I have friends who play trumpet and this is so spot on. As a bass clarinet i sit and wait for my director to help the trumpets a LOT. So ive gotten the chance to observe them and their personalities.
@@greengradientman1153 THANK GOD SOMEONE AGREES! Tbh there so little of us so we are super chill as well as we play whenever the clarinets AND/OR low brass plays. We also have like no drama tbh
@@brucy2191 exactly!! No effort in their brains like, you’re the reason we’re gonna get a bad scoring at competitions 😭 (but not really cause my school is awesome and we win all the time😏)
Bro trumpet is my, like, 5th instrument and I was showing up our trumpets the other day doing this. Learned from my bsf’s brother who was a senior when I was in 7th 😎.
As a percussionist I get to listen to my band director yell at a bunch of instruments, but occasionally us. Anyway the instruments that he has to help the most are the trumpets, clarinets, and flutes surprisingly. (Honorable mention to the French horns)
Learning another instrument is much easier once you’ve learned one that plays in the clef imo. I first learned to Play the trumpet then I managed to teach myself a few songs on piano afterwards. You’re right about everything else tho.
Jonathan in your vid is literally my friend Jonathan. Who happens to play trumpet and who happens to always complain about not wanting to be at marching band lol
The number two in middle school when you start is literally everyone even if you chose band yourself you'll still never want to be there unless your the teachers pet or favorite
I play out the side of my mouth like the first guy bc when i started, i had braces, and the only comfortable way to play was like that, and it just kinda stuck
I’m the first type, my embouchure is so weird, going away on the top and in on the bottom hardly touching the mouthpiece, yet I can play the most pristine sound. Idk how it works, but it just does.
Bro I've been playing trumpet for 4 years. My mate started playing last year and could reach fucking high, high C (above the stave) after less than a year I can still barely reach 😭
This is true I'm in grade 5(in music school) and in the orcestra there's so many people that are like this. I have a question. If you were a teacher would you give your student who is in garde 5 the Venice carneval? I'm playing the Venice carneval.
Was the last thing you did called ghost notes? Where on the trumpet you get the mouth peice barley touching your mouth and bringing it slightly closer until you can play?
Hey max! I am a freshman in high school and in marching band, but I am first chair since we are a brand new school and there are no upper class-men trumpets. How can I build my endurance so I don’t get as tired by the end of my marching show?
Bro took playing by ear to a whole new level😭
Best comment 🤣🤣
UNDERRATED COMMENT😂😂😂
I found the comment I was looking for 😂

As the section leader of all boy trumpet players I can confirm we have a Jonathan in the section 😂
Yep, but they are also the ones complaining about always getting 3rd parts, like maybe if you pay attention!
@@brucy2191 exactly!! No effort in their brains like, you’re the reason we’re gonna get a bad scoring at competitions 😭 (but not really cause my school is awesome and we win all the time😏)

Yea my previous section leader had a split lip issue and played way on the side lol
In 7th grade I had this crush on some guy who was all of these. He just changed moods everyday idk why I liked him
As a percussionist I get to listen to my band director yell at a bunch of instruments, but occasionally us. Anyway the instruments that he has to help the most are the trumpets, clarinets, and flutes surprisingly. (Honorable mention to the French horns)
That’s so real tbh (except my director hates when I do four mallet grip and can’t look up but I can’t help it my mallets are my kids 😂)
How do you sing, play the piano, and the trumpet, run a functioning social media channel, and have time to go to the gym. You are truly amazing
Learning another instrument is much easier once you’ve learned one that plays in the clef imo. I first learned to
Play the trumpet then I managed to teach myself a few songs on piano afterwards. You’re right about everything else tho.
He played 2 chords
The first one is so good he started playing strings on a trumpets

I love the Maynard Ferguson screaming bit.
The last one where they are cheating is my section leader she’s the best haha
What does it mean by cheating?
@@theblurishere461probably the xpiece, it’s a specific mouthpiece
@@declmalsthe mouthpiece in the video is a lotus, but there's no such thing as a "cheater" mouthpiece lmao

This. Is. Great.
Definitely trumpet player approved
First person that comes to mind when thinking of the 3rd guy is Allen Vizzutti
The first one is the definition of playing by ear
This guy is blowing his own trumpet.
Jonathan in your vid is literally my friend Jonathan. Who happens to play trumpet and who happens to always complain about not wanting to be at marching band lol
I can play with one side of my mouth. Learned that after I had dental surgery and had to go to rehearsal. My mouth was half numb lol.

I play out the side of my mouth like the first guy bc when i started, i had braces, and the only comfortable way to play was like that, and it just kinda stuck
The ear technique is quite impressive…it’s all in the wax, right?
House Of Flying Daggers - This Is War, Hedwig's Theme
I actually play trumpet with my mouthpiece a bit of to the right of my mouth, very much like the beginning, one of the reasons I play Euphonium now.
At first I thought that was gonna be, types oF Traumaaa
I’m the first type, my embouchure is so weird, going away on the top and in on the bottom hardly touching the mouthpiece, yet I can play the most pristine sound. Idk how it works, but it just does.

I play just like that on the side of my mouth with my trumpet😂
The does not want to be here is our lead trumpet😂
I can actually play with the corner of my mouth. Makes vibrations a little easier, but it sounds horrendous 😂
SOMEONE IN MY BAND DOES 1. DUDE LIKE, HIS MOUTHPIECE IS PERPENDICULAR TO HIS MOUTH
Our old teacher kinda played off to the side too
My best friend is a trumpet and I'm a euphonium. Idk how he does it
I used to play like the first one
Bro I will play from the side randomly if I was doing something when I was supposed to play and it works
Teh first one is me but with a beaugle
Dude I used to play all the time on the side of my mouth until my 5th year of playing when I learned I wasnt supposed to do that 😅
I used to play with the trumpet on the side of my mouth I was good but my breaths in between were short

everyone says i play to the side of my mouth but idk what they’re talking abt it feels normal to me
that was bohemian rhapsody at the beginning
I have a couple #2s in my band class😂
my music teacher plays like 1 at the first part
The last one be Maynard Fergueson
I awkwardly point my head to the side with like 70% of my lip on the mouthpiece and idk why 🤩
Is the last one referencing the guy playing fright of the bumblebee when lotus trumpets played it?
My band teacher plays like that just not as extreme
Can u please do the trumpet opener Carolina crown 2011

hey max, just wondering what size lotus mouthpiece you play on?
Bruh the 2nd type was you during Bloo spring training ☠️☠️
All of our underclassmen trumpet players are Jonathan. Don’t even know why most of them are playing…
Named ever trumpet player out there while also calling out trombones
