Do these guys want secession for silicon valley. There was a movement for seasteading by some billionaires, but who wants to live on a big oil platform? Is the ultimate goal Ameriexit, and Bay area/sillicon valley becoming a Singapore like special economic zone. The largest richest most exclusive gated community in the world rivaling Dubai? Since almost all of California's wealth is in just a handfull of luxury zip codes, it's improbable a split could happen where Bay area has half the gdp and everything but LA is tiny poor States like Alabama.
I think Tim overestimates how fast AI will change life as we know it. Many of disruptions we're seeing now are the result of old fashioned automation and super-fast brute force computing (not true AI). Of course, I might be the one who does the wrong kind of estimating. 😀Nonetheless, very interesting interview. Not only was it fun to watch you talk to someone you admire, but it's always informative to listen to someone with the kind of influence Tim Draper has.
Tim Draper is a really interesting guy. He was the first major inventor in Theranos, and even after reports came out that said the company was a fraud, he still supported them. To this day, he still proudly says that Theranos is a great company, and Elizabeth Holmes is an amazing, visionary CEO.
