I picked up an old elk wheated bourbon for $30 it was on sale at my local liquor store. I have tried it twice and it’s not my favorite. I’m just getting into whiskey over the last year and my favorite so far has been michters sour mash , smoke wagon Halloween bottle and eagle rare.
That’s surprising was it a single barrel selection? I guess they can vary from time to time. Sounds you like more of the classic Nashville and maybe the wheated mashbill are not you palate. Have you tried makers mark?
I'm going to try the Sagamore Rye, I love Bulleit Rye. I've wanted to try the Kirkland spirits, but they're not sold in Oklahoma or Texas. We're talking about going on a road trip to Missouri and hitting Costco and SAMS
Man, I was lucky enough to find a handle of the AXE & Oak here in cent TX about a year ago. I have been searching ever since. Hopefully it will some how make its way to the Austin TX area, so good!! Great video.
Some good selections there! A few I wouldn’t buy personally, but I respect it. Quite a few Colorado whiskies in this video, leading me to a question. If I was going to buy one authentic Colorado whiskey, what bottle would you recommend? I lean sweeter bourbon if that helps
Boulder spirits is probably the best distilled Colorado bourbon. Stranahans is great but single malt. Cooper sky do some great sourcing from mpg but not unique.
Was NOT a fan of the Kirland Signature Blended Scotch Whisky. I only drink scotch neat, and it was not a good sipper. Some good picks in there though! The Sagamore and Bulleit are great pickups.
Love your content but have a question on the number of cheaper bottles purchased. Do you entertain that much with mixed drinks to buy so much cheaper alcohol (assume you have a lot more already home)? Lately I’m trying to have just a couple mixers and buying better stuff so I don’t have 40 bottles of sub $40 whiskey open on my shelves. Some I have is sitting for years and my kids will probably inherit them at this rate…and they are 4 years old lol
Hear that Sagamore Spirits Sherry and Port Finished are good. I bought 2 bottles of Dickel 13 Year BIB at an unbelievable price of $28 each. I really wanted to like it, but cannot stand it. Would never buy any Dickel again. Gave my bottles to my brother who cannot taste or smell due to Covid 19. 🤮
I’ve tried the 13 and it’s not great but I feel that this 8 year bourbon does hit a little differently. It reminds me of the 9 year blue note that was released a few years ago. I have been looking quite hard for that port finished sagamore. I want to see if it can battle out the mwnd.
Great value for money just a shame there was nothing allocated. I have seen heaven hill 7 there before for a rock bottom price. guess they were all out when you were there. happy holidays cheers.
Knob Creek 18 for MSRP at our local Costco last week.
Great varied haul. Also Love that animated intro. Very very nice work.
Great videos. I live in Thornton myself, so super helpful!
Cheers to that. Thanks for watching!
Really like the store haul vids. I haven’t got a membership for Costco but I have Sam’s. Not sure what yours is like but that could be a fun video
Solid Costco finds. The Sagamore Sherry Finish is phenomenal...you'll enjoy it.
Thanks! Will do! Can’t wait to get this thing opened.
Nice haul, not sure our local Costco has such an extensive selection. Love the knowledge you share about certain bottles and distilleries. Cheers!🥃👍
Thanks Whiskey Basket.
I tried Axe & Oak years back it wasnt best but not a drain pour. I remember I paid like $45 at Sobo Liquors in Denver 🥃
I can’t speak from experience but their brands seem to well at Costco.
Hell of a haul brother. Love the haul videos and ta do a great job
Thanks for watching, West Ham.
Definitely would've picked up two of those Disco #7s. Fantastic bottle, my favorite I've tried of the Disco series.
Don’t disagree with that but it would have blown the budget. Thanks for watching and sharing.
@@TheWhiskeyCove completely understandable
Nice haul! That Sagamore PX is my favorite rye!
I need to get this cracked. Lots of folks saying this is such a great bottle. Cheers

The Ax & oak sounded good otherwise I would have just bought a case of the Sagamore.
Sagamore is the way to go but that would have made for an uneventful video. Cheers.
I wish our Costco had that selection.
I hear it’s hit and miss.

They have a solid reputation in Colorado. Haven’t seen it in any other states. You have an excuse to come to Colorado.
Some good selections there! A few I wouldn’t buy personally, but I respect it. Quite a few Colorado whiskies in this video, leading me to a question.

Guys, Templeton is also 95 5 MGP and their 10 year is only about $85 at 104 proof. Really good too
Great recommendation
Sagamore is definitely the star in my opinion. Always have a bottle on my shelf. Great video Patrick. Thanks
Cheers Robert!
I'd find myself happier donating the money for the holidays than purchasing that Kirkland Blended Scotch.
Sounds like I need to get that thing open and make an opinion on it.
There is bourbon and single malt…….and then over here………..is blended and Canadian garbage
The 12yr Kirkland Blended Scotch is fabulous. It’s basically JW Black Label
You should hit up the Airport Rd location, they seem to have a better selection than most CO/Denver area stores.
Noted and I have been meaning to since they opened. Now even more so.
I found the Elija Craig 125 proof for $65.00 at the same store on 4/5.
Great find!
A lot bigger selection than my Bay Area warehouse!
Yeah they have a very solid selection here. Not the most but pretty darn big.
Was NOT a fan of the Kirland Signature Blended Scotch Whisky. I only drink scotch neat, and it was not a good sipper. Some good picks in there though! The Sagamore and Bulleit are great pickups.
The sagamore is great. I've also heard that that signature scotch isn't the greatest. I do like their Macallan clone that they sometimes carry.
@@TheWhiskeyCove Yeah some of their single malts are fantastic. That blended scotch was just not for me.
Very informative. Always wondered if the liquor at Costco was worth the effort.
Thanks for watching!

I do entertain a fair bit but I also do samples for a lot of people which seems to combat that.

Smoke Wagon is not the 95/5 rye, you’re thinking of the high west rye
So the smoke wagon straight rye is the 95/5 mash I’ll from mgp. I do know high west use that also.
I love watching people in other states shopping at Costco. Unfortunately in my state Costco doesn't sell liquor.
Hopefully that will change one day as it’s only in the last few years Costco has sold hard liquor.
Ive bought a number of bottles from that costco. Scooped that sagamore rye, a couple of Redbreast 12s, and that dickel 8 within the last few months
The redbreast is exceptionally priced too. Thanks for watching.
Great value for money just a shame there was nothing allocated. I have seen heaven hill 7 there before for a rock bottom price. guess they were all out when you were there. happy holidays cheers.
I’ve seen the heaven hill 7 there before for about $37 which is great value for money.
Axe and oak was really good. Got that bottle the last rime in Colorado.
For that price at Costco I couldn’t say no
Man I've been looking for that sherry sagamore. Hard to find in California
I’ve been heavily hunting the port finished. Though happy with our sagamore selection here in Colorado.
the 3 year canadian whiskey is a decent mixer, nothing else.
Not three years it was SIX years!
that AO japanese whiskey, taste like plastic melted in alcohol.
Nah it’s not bad it’s a fun bottle. Just wish there was more Japanese and Irish that could come through. It’s very sweet and peaty.
That's my Costco!
Cheers Shawn!
Blad and bow cost me $70 😢
Oh wow that’s crazy. Just live vicariously through me?
I bought Blade and Bow last year and did not like it, I tasted thin, must have a lot of wheat in it@@TheWhiskeyCove
That blended scotch is the definition of a drain pour... great selection otherwise.
Haha I am not expecting much for the price.
You were doing well until you wasted $$$ on the Bulleit rye.
