I hadn't played my guitar almost at all for maybe 10-15 years. Then I watched Bocchi, looked over at my guitar, saw that it was a black Les Paul epiphone that looks almost exactly like Bocchi's and thought "fuck it, that's destiny." Back in the game.

@@MattyyyM as a long time Les Paul owner, the worst thing is the angle of the headstock. It is a straight up design flaw IMO, as guitars with a less angled headstock stay in tune much better.

Yo! For Bocchi’s effect chain, you can see her board in episode 12 at 5:14 and at one more spot I believe. It looks like a Boss BD-2 (as you mentioned) as well as a ProCo RAT and also it looks like a Dunlop Crybaby GCB95 looping into a Boss MS-3 which is most likely where she’s getting her fuzz and rotary sounds from. I hope this was helpful 👍
This show had given me back my passion to play my drums again , especially the song "that band" and "flashbacker". Bocchi the Rock is still one of my top favourite shows up till now, hope cloverworks gives us season 2 😭
and not only that, but when they make mistakes they don't just play a perfect performance and say that they're messing up, they're *actually* making mistakes and you can hear it, it's great
Bocchi the Rock has a special place in my heart. It helped me get through a rough time in my life, and as a result it motivated me to play guitar again. You could say that Bocchi the Rock changed my life for the better. Last year, I finally saved up enough cash and bought the Les Paul Custom directly from Gibson. I was surprised to find out that out of sheer coincidence, the certification date of my Les Paul Custom was on my birthday! Bocchi also has the same birthday month as I do, too. I overall love the Les Paul Custom. While it does indeed have its own quirks and oddities, I can't help but smile each and every time I play it. It's a part of me I can't let go of. Thank you for posting this video. I'm always glad to see Bocchi and her guitar get the love they deserve.
@@MattyyyM I appreciate it! Doing wayyyy better nowadays for sure. Guess I found out the hard way that I needed to get some music back into my life, LOL.
Bocchi speaks deeply to me, I think it speaks to any 30+ guitar player who spent his teenage years locked in his room playing more guitar alone than having human interactions and witnessing the birth of TH-cam with people like Jerry C, wishing to play that good and be seen on the internet. The Ano Bando song specially is a banger with those lyrics and it makes me feel quite emotional. "I close my eyes there's a halo in the darkness I cover my ears there's a steady beating pulse within Deep in my chest my heart makes my body sway I don't want to hear anything else Nothing but the sounds I'm making" Congratulations on your Les Paul, I almost bought one that looked like this 8 or so years ago but in the end I got a PRS clone from a Korean brand as my H-H mahogany axe, still have it.
I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years and the music from Bocchi has made me want to get better. From the time I’ve spent learning the music I can already seeing improvement to my playing in places I’ve plateaued over the years with.

In the anime, it was left ambiguous if it was a reissue or not, but the in the manga it is clear that she is using a reissue due to the pickguard design, I think from the 70s but not 100% sure. I am not too familiar with marshall amps so I don't know what model the Starry uses. Although I know Kita uses a Roland JC120 with a foot switch to activate the inbuilt chorus that wasn't animated for some reason dispite Kita using the foot switch during the school festival show.
I'm a bedroom guitarist myself but the one thing I really love about this anime is the almost perfect representation of how an introverted mind works. I couldn't help myself but relate on every reaction Bocchi portrays. Also, about the guitar playing, I'm pretty much an amateur but I really love the fact that I feel like home whenever I rewatch Bocchi. 10/10 would recommend to other introverts too.
I started watching it last year january 2023 and before I knew it I picked up my first guitar in april which was a strat clone, its almost been a year and I've really enjoyed playing it ever since. Thank you BTR for showing me the fun in guitar 🙏
Was about to post this myself, I've also been looking at these things. Push comes to shove I can just replace the knobs and it's pretty much show-accurate, just cheaper. And, hell, it's already as close as it gets without that.
theyve been doing those for months but they're still very much built in several ways like an epiphone. the scarf joint and how the binding continues from the neck to the headstock is very much not like a gibson, not to mention the difference in trussrod and the cover.
@@hollyc5417 the truss rod cover is obvious, I kind of assumed the fret ends would not be bound, it's the scarf joint that's surprising. Their announcements made a very big deal of the "one piece neck" thing, implying the contrary. But I haven't actually had my hands on any of the new pricey Epiphones so all my info is secondhand. I got a lefty version of this back in 2020 and totally love it. I have 8 other guitars of varying build and quality. It quickly became my favourite one to play. Seeing it show up in Bocchi was a huge OMG moment for me. What drives me nuts, though, is that she gig-bags the thing. In spite of the price, the neck and headstock are practically designed to fail. The angles they're set in makes it as play-able as can be, but puts them very precarious position for anything less than a totally form fitted hardshell. Mine was made with the "original" non-relief body which weighs in at a hefty 9.8lb. I can't imagine the average gig-bag holding up to that kind of weight for very long.
Important Amp correction. In the show, it's a JCM 900. You can tell this by counting the dials. 800's only have 6 dials, where as 900's have 10. The amp everything is recorded on (if it's a Marshall) is most likely a JCM2000 though, since that's the more readily available Marshall in Japan.
In season 2, Bocchi will use his new guitar, namely the YAMAHA PACIFICA 611vfm. And you have to buy it again and review it for us... and we are Bocchi fans
Oh this guitar is underrated. I sold my Fender and bought this one, it really was worth every penny. If you're thinking of getting the Pacifica get the 611VFM. The tremolo in it is actually really good and it won't de-tune and I've had no issues so far. Not to mention it's got Seymour duncan Humbuckers and the SP90 pick up. every time i hear your playing it gives me chills and makes me want to hear more! I love your playing keep it up and i hope you get millions of subscribers because you deserve them all!
I was playing guitar a lot back in middle school and high school for 3-4 years, and just suddenly stopped because i can't get any motivation to play it again. This anime really hits the part when i'm still used to doing it a lot, and actually i'm starting to play guitar more again because of it. And thanks to the dark old times of learning and playing super hard dream theater songs, bocchi's song wasn't super difficult to learn, and like you said, Fun!
I've been learning the songs from Kessoku Band and your videos have been very helpful, I plan to upload a cover of the opening (Seishun Complex) soon. Also, I hope to get that guitar someday. Great video! new sub
it's that feeling that you wanna play smth that goes real hard like how Bocchi does, this gave me shivers the first time when I heard bocchi's first performance, it's like you get to feel every note and emotion from almost every note
I bought the yamaha pacifica they advertised using bocchers at the end of the show For 699 you get better specs than most guitars at 999$, seymour duncan p 90 and humbucker, great ergonomics and even graph tec saddles. Yamaha owns. I am huge fan of the album over the anime honestly, i wasn't gonna buy it because of the anime, but i happened to watch it at the aame time i was in the market for a guitar Again best specs at 699, been using it an hour a day for a year now and LOVE IT. Yamaha has always been a brand i loved but they just secured a life time customer with the incredible specs and build quality on the 611
This video is awesome! I've been wanting to start guitar for a while now but I don't know what equipment to use such as AMPs and pedals I'd love if you did a video on starter equipment that sound similar to this or just an overview of the basics!
I have a black and gold Epiphone LP custom that I got new in 2004, upgraded the pickups to '59 reissues and had it setup by one of the best local luthiers. It has been and will always be for me the nicest playing guitar I could get my hands on. I would put my $1200 Epi head to head with any Gibson any day. Either way, fantastic video and when I see a Black and Gold LP, I click!
The Black Beauty Gibsons are probably one of my biggest dream guitars, just the absolute sexy design and the overall looks of the black and gold are immaculate.
My guitar is a 2001 black and gold les paul epiphone. Its always been special- sounds way better than it has any right to, has amazing sustain and clear high tones. it has some battle scars from the years but has been repaired and maintained as much as possible. glad to see other people loving these guitars too
I am not much of a fan of les paul and also black guitars but few days ago when I watched a recommended TH-cam short of bocchi playing this specific les paul, this black beauty with golden hardware really caught my eye. It just looks so beautiful can't help it and that's why I watched the anime I didn't know about. So this is the only les paul and black guitar I would like to have now.
This is by far the closest match to the sound of the guitar from the show I've ever heard and I love it. I picked up my guitar again after years of not playing after watching BTR, but then I put it back down again because I forgot how much I sucked at it.
Loved watching this video, been meaning to get back into playing my guitar, and bocci made me impulsively buy a gibson stratocaster and amp combo, but I fell off after a year, but seeing your video I've felt like picking it up again.
This is awesome. Been playing guitar for 10 years, been touring in a band for 3 years. Love to see people pick up guitar from this show. Marshall and les paul is awesome but imo eps/ltd through a cranked 5150 with a tube screamer is so gangster
I started self teaching myself Guitar back in August this year because of Bocchi. I’m learning with my dad’s guitar and once I get good enough (and can afford it) I plan on buying my own along with other equipment.
I have a 2009 Epiphone Les Paul custom. I grew up with it. Started learning how to play it a few years ago and now I'm at a point where I'm legitimately starting to have fun with it! It's a great guitar, I highly recommend it (hopefully manufacturing quality is high to this day)
or check out the Edwards and Tokai Les Paul Custom Clones, Edwards is a ESP company, I bought a Tokai off of Reverb, very nice, did do a full hardware upgrade, but I didn't spend $5-6000, only $1500 after all shipping and customs ($75 to USA) were paid, and the Tokai does have a standard gibson truss rod nut ( my gibson corn cob pipe fit it) and it has a transitional neck socket, so not a full deep tenon, but not a short set tenon, and it also has direct screw ABR 1 bridge screws and both the bridge screws and stop bar threads are Metric
I've been seeing this anime on my youtube reccomendations so i decided to watch it. When i watched it, i got inspired to start a band and go on gigs! This surely is a masterpiece!
how could you not have included the bottle neck solo, its so iconic specially with Bocchi's actual guitar. but love the dedication and the guitar sounds amazing
@5:30 i picked up guitar after watching K-On, even have a similar Epiphone Les Paul that i got at a pawn store for about $200. Although i still cant play well after several years (never had time or energy to practice) I still love that guitar.
I'm like 2 months into """learning""" guitar ( I know 2 tabs, 4 simple rythm songs and the G chord by name ) and I gotta say this show encouraged me to keep going cuz I was about to drop it seeing my progress... God 'That Band' goes hard
I've got a black Epiphone Les Paul Standard with silver furniture and an off white pick guard. I gotta say, it's probably one of my favorite guitars to play.
I was under the impression that it was a 57 custom. I absolutely want to play as good as this some day. Currently rocking an Epi Studio in Alpine white but if I got good enough to justify a $6k guitar, I'd certainly choose this one.
I'm just grateful to still see Bocchi content still flying around. You make her songs seem so easy. 6k for a guitar is BRUTAL, so I hope my comment and like helps reimburse!
found out that Harley Benton sell the same style for less than £150 (Harley Benton SC-500 BK Vintage Series)... yes it may not sound as good, be the real thing or have that stunning gold hardware. but, if you want the look, you can absolutely get it for a budget price. I own one of these and I am more than satisfied. that solo was on point!
LOLZ - I have a Les Paul for a similar reason, BECK and K-ON!. I've never heard of Bocchi the Rock and will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing your setup. Also I just picked up a Fender Vintera II Mustang for the same reasons, on sale for 10% off at Sweetwater at the moment BTW 😉
Love the guitar so much. Bocchi the Rock as a series and Kessoku Band’s music never fail to inspire me to pick up my instruments and practice. Ryo also made me get a bass so now I’m learning both the electric guitar and bass. I love Fender P basses but I wasn’t able to get one as my first bass. However I did get a nice Yamaha that looks kinda like Kikuri’s one except it’s a light greyish color.
I’ve started playing guitar 20yrs ago on a lespaul… and upto now, it is still my weapon of choice in my band.. though i also have a prs and an ibanez pia… nothing beats the les paul sound for me…
5:42 as an old fan i can say that after both movies (that reshowing you a first season) there is a big chance for season 2 (The movies are great source of money for it).
This anime inspired me to pick up bass and i have since fallen in love glad to see so many likeminded people also its his money he can do whatever tf he wants with it

every time i hear your playing it gives me chills and makes me want to hear more! I love your playing keep it up and i hope you get millions of subscribers because you deserve them all!
i was just listening to you cover yesterday morning :o but if i had to get a les paul it would definitely be the one from k-on!
interesting!
its so hard to decide, i wish i was a millionair so i could just get both
i think millionaire is a bit overkill don't you think@@plteltronix7085
@@MattyyyM cant ever have enough money lol
@@plteltronix7085 valid point 🗿
I was playing guitar a lot back in middle school and high school for 3-4 years, and just suddenly stopped because i can't get any motivation to play it again.
This anime really hits the part when i'm still used to doing it a lot, and actually i'm starting to play guitar more again because of it.
And thanks to the dark old times of learning and playing super hard dream theater songs, bocchi's song wasn't super difficult to learn, and like you said, Fun!
0:33 So its like learning how to drive in a Ferrari F40 or smthn?
the angle is actually perfect I'm gonna use this as a learning tutorial thank you very much
Sounds amazing!
😄
I've been learning the songs from Kessoku Band and your videos have been very helpful, I plan to upload a cover of the opening (Seishun Complex) soon. Also, I hope to get that guitar someday. Great video! new sub
it's that feeling that you wanna play smth that goes real hard like how Bocchi does, this gave me shivers the first time when I heard bocchi's first performance, it's like you get to feel every note and emotion from almost every note
I bought the yamaha pacifica they advertised using bocchers at the end of the show
For 699 you get better specs than most guitars at 999$, seymour duncan p 90 and humbucker, great ergonomics and even graph tec saddles. Yamaha owns. I am huge fan of the album over the anime honestly, i wasn't gonna buy it because of the anime, but i happened to watch it at the aame time i was in the market for a guitar
Again best specs at 699, been using it an hour a day for a year now and LOVE IT.
Let's go!!!!
😝
Great choice for the outro. Karakara riff is just too good, love that math rock influence on that song.
Awesome karakara cover in the end mate!
Amazing video! I learned a lot
Honestly didn't know that different guitars can produce different sound
thank you for playing it first thing in the video, you deserve a sub
I have a black and gold Epiphone LP custom that I got new in 2004, upgraded the pickups to '59 reissues and had it setup by one of the best local luthiers. It has been and will always be for me the nicest playing guitar I could get my hands on. I would put my $1200 Epi head to head with any Gibson any day. Either way, fantastic video and when I see a Black and Gold LP, I click!
The Black Beauty Gibsons are probably one of my biggest dream guitars, just the absolute sexy design and the overall looks of the black and gold are immaculate.
Your tone here is freaking sick! I wish I could get mine dialed in that well! ❤🤘🏽
So this is the only les paul and black guitar I would like to have now.
bro the bocchi solo that you did was SPOT on holy
This is by far the closest match to the sound of the guitar from the show I've ever heard and I love it. I picked up my guitar again after years of not playing after watching BTR, but then I put it back down again because I forgot how much I sucked at it.
Haha found you here again
I really love how powerful the sounds it produces, it hits the right spot in my soul
Loved watching this video, been meaning to get back into playing my guitar, and bocci made me impulsively buy a gibson stratocaster and amp combo, but I fell off after a year, but seeing your video I've felt like picking it up again.
Great to hear!
The solo in the beginning sounded literally ONE TO ONE TO THE ORIGINAL
This is awesome. Been playing guitar for 10 years, been touring in a band for 3 years. Love to see people pick up guitar from this show. Marshall and les paul is awesome but imo eps/ltd through a cranked 5150 with a tube screamer is so gangster
I started self teaching myself Guitar back in August this year because of Bocchi. I’m learning with my dad’s guitar and once I get good enough (and can afford it) I plan on buying my own along with other equipment.
god bless you for posting this
the intro is so perfect
Man i just love the look of this guitar, its one of the only ones that I REALLY find beautiful
I have a 2009 Epiphone Les Paul custom. I grew up with it. Started learning how to play it a few years ago and now I'm at a point where I'm legitimately starting to have fun with it! It's a great guitar, I highly recommend it (hopefully manufacturing quality is high to this day)
I love how bocchi got so many people back into guitar, me included
or check out the Edwards and Tokai Les Paul Custom Clones, Edwards is a ESP company, I bought a Tokai off of Reverb, very nice, did do a full hardware upgrade, but I didn't spend $5-6000, only $1500 after all shipping and customs ($75 to USA) were paid, and the Tokai does have a standard gibson truss rod nut ( my gibson corn cob pipe fit it) and it has a transitional neck socket, so not a full deep tenon, but not a short set tenon, and it also has direct screw ABR 1 bridge screws and both the bridge screws and stop bar threads are Metric
I've been seeing this anime on my youtube reccomendations so i decided to watch it. When i watched it, i got inspired to start a band and go on gigs! This surely is a masterpiece!
COOOL ! Yeeah awesome LP Custom dude
thank you 😊
I could never get motivated to actually practice instruments before but after watching Bocchi I try to play drums and guitar more regularly
This anime made me purchase a les paul and a Pacifica 😅
Super nice guitar skill of you! Very impressed!
how could you not have included the bottle neck solo, its so iconic specially with Bocchi's actual guitar.
but love the dedication and the guitar sounds amazing
Easily one of my favorite les pauls. So nice and the anime just as epic as the guitar! Highly recommend it if you haven't seen it already.
@5:30 i picked up guitar after watching K-On, even have a similar Epiphone Les Paul that i got at a pawn store for about $200. Although i still cant play well after several years (never had time or energy to practice) I still love that guitar.
You’ve out done yourself with this one matty 🤘 you monster!
I'm like 2 months into """learning""" guitar ( I know 2 tabs, 4 simple rythm songs and the G chord by name ) and I gotta say this show encouraged me to keep going cuz I was about to drop it seeing my progress... God 'That Band' goes hard
I really like this video format! It's refreshing to have your input in a topic such as this. This guitar's sound really is something else...
I'm glad you like it!
That first chord Hitori hits in that solo took me around a Roundabout.
I generally just started getting INTO guitar thanks to the anime, now I'm learning some cool stuff that I thought I'd never learn before :]
I'm just grateful to still see Bocchi content still flying around. You make her songs seem so easy. 6k for a guitar is BRUTAL, so I hope my comment and like helps reimburse!
haha thank you!
found out that Harley Benton sell the same style for less than £150 (Harley Benton SC-500 BK Vintage Series)... yes it may not sound as good, be the real thing or have that stunning gold hardware. but, if you want the look, you can absolutely get it for a budget price. I own one of these and I am more than satisfied. that solo was on point!
LOLZ - I have a Les Paul for a similar reason, BECK and K-ON!. I've never heard of Bocchi the Rock and will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing your setup.
Also I just picked up a Fender Vintera II Mustang for the same reasons, on sale for 10% off at Sweetwater at the moment BTW 😉
bro really be showing off his gibson and skills.
and i liked it
❤️
That last part of the intro solo was so sick.. never heard anything like it
...goosebumps from the get-go. You, Sir, are a true man of culture.
However I did get a nice Yamaha that looks kinda like Kikuri’s one except it’s a light greyish color.
my love for the characters in this show is the reason i picked my dusty ass bass back up and started playing again
One thing you can't deny, that is a STUNNING guitar
This anime inspired me to pick up bass and i have since fallen in love glad to see so many likeminded people also its his money he can do whatever tf he wants with it
