    This was one of my favorite of the CarTrek cars. 100% loud, ridiculous and unreliable, and 100% fun, of course

    I remember sitting in the back for a test drive with my Dad when I was younger. I think it was the green press car as we noticed the same number plate in some magazines. Beautiful car, especially in the original trim (not a fan of Max Power makeover).

    You usually have the best experiences out of things that frighten the crap out of you. This TVR is one of those things.

    One benefit to the TVR, is you never have to worry about somebody stealing it, because they'll never be able to figure out how to start it.

    As iconic as the Carisma Cerbera is, everyone in the Cerbera community knew that this car had some issues... some more serious than others. That's why it sat for sale in the UK for so very long before Ed imorted it to the USA. Had you reviewed an unmodified Cerbera, I feel like some of your thoughts on the car would have been different.

      I totally agree, but I wasn’t gonna pass up the opportunity to review this famous car!

    The Cerbera was actually considered one of the better British sports cars back in the late 90s and the early 00s. It was a better deal than the V8 Esprit of the time according to a lot of magazines. You think this is too powerful? Well, the Cerbera's 4.5 version made 420 (yep...) horsepower.
    Problem is, the suspension quality control at TVR at the time was especially bad. So it'd kill you, and you'd die.

      @Jo3man96 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it didn’t want to kill you at all times, it wouldn’t be a TVR

      It would kill me AND I would die? Nah....

    TVR: We... WE tune the engine? No. We build the engine. The customer can tune the engine. How are we supposed to know if the customer wants good fuel economy or good power? What, they want BOTH? Next you're gonna tell me they want it to idle smoothly AND rev past 4000 rpm. That they're gonna want it to drive faster than 30mph AND not smog up the air. Ha. As if any car can do any of those things concurrently. Either drive a ford festiva or a dodge viper. There is no in between.

    I'd argue that the TVR that was in that live-action Looney Tunes movie is the most famous TVR in the world. Until Ed bought this I'd never heard of this one. TVR as a company is pretty hilarious, a bloke named Trevor went out to his shed and said "how hard can it be to build a monstrously powerful sports car?" I love how in every TVR the switches are unlabeled and scattered randomly around. You just have to guess which button does because they couldn't be bothered to put a sticker on each one. The V8 sounds interesting, it does sound like a Harley at idle.
    The customizations are not my cup of tea but it's practically a time capsule. The excess is how we used to pimp our rides.

    TVR: What if you found a European who thought that American cars are too gentle and refined and thought that the best car in the world would be a dodge viper with a rolls royce merlin engine in it, then gave them the money to build their own cars.

    The tvr in theory is what I want to design for a top of the line sports car. unabashedly raw, lightweight, hang all modernist design rules, just make what you envisioned. It just lacks the practical applications I’d have applied to a car like that.

    We all dream of creating our own car one day but my god, if I ever did and the interior was as hideous as the TVR interior is, I'd probably just dismantle it and go buy a porsche.

    So, you got to drive Bolian's albatross. You have really come up in the world, my friend! You had me laughing a few times. If you remember how short early 90's men's shorts were, that center vent makes more sense.

  • @thirdpedalnirvana
    @thirdpedalnirvana ปีที่แล้ว +1

    TVR: Remember how when people used to ride horses, you were never sure if the horse was going to turn around and bite your face off? What if we made a car like that? Oh... Horses don't do that? What about... bears? Remember how when people used to ride bears... oh they didn't? Tigers then. Lets make a car that feels like you're riding on a sabretooth tiger, like the cave men used to do. Now how do you know that cave men didn't ride tigers, Sharon? Were you there? I didn't think so. Now pass me some more horsepower and wood glue.

    One advice, please watch some videos of stock , unmolested Cerbera. These cars drive great, look great, sound great. But that can´t be said about this exact example which is totally ruined and therefore it has negative influence on your judgement. ;-)

      @xmo552 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know we could import these. What's the fast and skinny on that ?

    • @trev_3013
      @trev_3013 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xmo552 You can import any car after it turns 25 years old. They become EPA and DOT exempt. As long as you can register it in your state (as that's a different matter from importing it) then you're good to go. The TVR Cerbera is now over 25 years old so they are eligible for import! There are more than a dozen of them here already!

    I like the color, interior and exterior but otherwise, I think it's ugly, and done with really bad taste, like some teenager who wanted to design the coolest car ever but failed horribly. Well maybe I'm overreacting, but still... It looks like an early Dodge Viper, and I prefer the Viper, no doubt.

  • @thirdpedalnirvana
    @thirdpedalnirvana ปีที่แล้ว

    The... LOOKS? The LOOKS are what you complement? Yes that color is amazing but any color is amazing now considering almost every car is gray, white, black, or silver.

    The only decent driving sports car that came out of the US was the GT40. We had to give the Merlin Engine to make the P51 a superb fighter and teach you how to land the Corsair on an aircraft carrier plus give you the A bomb which you then shat on us after the War.by not sharing the final info. As for the Bell X1 you also nicked thay design from thel Miles M.52 us Brits were developing . Not the similar design following a visit by Bell to the UK

  • @RobsCars
    @RobsCars ปีที่แล้ว

    That car is famous for all the wrong reasons... absolutely shocking! Stock cars are so much nicer...
    Your comment about the start & kill switch buttons being wired up incorrectly is BS (On a normal car they're either Black or Red... hardly difficult even for the factory to get wrong)
    The seats in that car were sown together by a two year old not TVR so no wonder they look shitte and as you say like a Mcdonalds happy meal.
    The car drives shitte because they ruined this car, put a decent set of Nitrons on it, plus no offence people in the UK who buy these cars are a little more athletic so as to speak, I am 6ft6 and once used to it is brilliant. Spend a week with it and you'll start to understand it.....
