How about just paying a reasonable minimum per order? My AR hit zero% yesterday. I spend half my day rejecting disgusting insults. How is this an efficient or serious manner of doing business? We are supply all the labor and supplying a car, gas, insurance, maintenence, and depreciation of said car. Two dollars? These apps are the most un-serious people I have ever encountered in my journey through this life. And that includes circus clowns, comedians, and politicians.

We lost my husband to covid-19 early in March of 2020. We depend on delivery, both of my parents have dementia and I don't know what we would have done during the worst of the pandemic. Every time I got sick it was after a trip to the grocery store. On top of dementia my dad is in heart failure. I can't count on the caregivers that are supposed to come to allow me a few hours break. I appreciate all the delivery people who save me having to drag my parents out. Thank you for what you do. I'm sorry the companies don't pay you what you are worth.

Best job ever because you mostly work alone. I think overnights might be hard for me now that I'm older, but I'm hoping I could get used to it. On my off time I will definitely be doing Uber eats and Doordash, but will be nice to know I don't have to rely on those for income.

Right I hit platinum on Door dash and making less than I was before this status. Getting less order, and not making minimum wage and my gas is getting used up. If I park it seems I’m not getting anything at all. What I’ve noticed too is I can dash any time but the time option seems to be locked 90% of the time. Evening seems to be open often. When the gas prices were higher I was making more than when prices dropped.

What area are you in because I hate Uber Eats but sometimes I make in one night over $150 doing it but 50 goes back in my gas tank so yeah I make 100 lol. The least amount I've made is (and mind you I only work 4hr no less than 3 hrs a day) $47.36, but that's because I only worked for 1hr and 12 minutes that day

    • @JS-yj4rb
      @JS-yj4rb วันที่ผ่านมา

@ that’s good if you make that every day I’ve made that but not often. On a good day 100 in2-3 after 5. Every zone makes a difference and if your either by time compared by order. Days mids are within maybe 60 in 2 hrs. Zones I hate to say it’s bad to low budget areas. Door Dash figures u out when u work a certain area and make money then gives you the 2-3 dollars or 4 dollars to spread dashers money around. I do over 300 dashes per month. I’ve been dashing for over 2 years but know for sure 150 is not possible every day where I’m at for 4-6 hrs. I’ve made 300 in all day dash but it’s pushing it. My truck usually needs to be fueled every day 65 dollars. Most dashes are usually far but without excepting them by time is best for me. By time I’ve doing good on occasions but not often. Dashes have been dad lately here. Making 20 is 50% chance by hr. But time of day depends. Door dash has been locking my time. Then lots of those small orders. If you do them anyways then other days they will give you high paying orders. I’m a platinum dasher but still get those crap dashes. Door Dash at times will give you a week or 2 weeks to get good money then down to low pay.

I am 79 yr old partially disabled female, so I need and depend on my food delivery! I live in rows of apartments, and the driver has repeatedly left my food three doors down. The first time it happened, I called with a missing food report, only to be told it was delivered. I called my granddaughter to straighten it out for me, only to find out it was three doors down. She had to go and take it off another person's porch. We have placed detailed instructions, as well as placed a small table next to the door with those detailed delivery instructions, only to have it happen again, two more times. Once, I waited at the door only to see the driver park down there. I opened the door and asked if it was my order... and it was! So, we are not always saying we are not receiving the food only to cheat the restaurant and the driver. I need my driver, I tip my driver and still worry about my order!

I want to make a few suggestions:
Get a unique door mat, make sure your apt./house numbers are legible, make sure your door/address is well lit and add special instructions in the app.
Also maybe ask them to call or text you upon arrival.
The app. shows the driver a picture of your front door and also all of the special instructions.

That's because they let anyone with a pulse deliver. I think it's ridiculous that good people lose opportunities while incompetent people who can't speak English or follow directions are employed. I work next to a Burger King and Doordash drivers daily walk in and shove a phone in someone's face and they yell "Doordash" you look at their phone it says Burger King and we have to direct them to the building next door. Everyday new drivers circling the parking lot with their hazards on not understanding their own job.

When the customers claim they didn’t get the food it actually hurts the restaurant, I own 2 restaurants and DoorDash takes the money directly from the restaurant when they get a complaint, then we need to dispute the claim and show proof we bagged the correct food. We now have cameras that just film the takeout bagging station so we can show proof.

I’ve found that many, if not most drivers are intentionally being dishonest with themselves about their actual earnings, or they don’t have the skills to figure it correctly. As a rule, when asked about their income, most drivers report the amount BEFORE any deductions.
    - deduct your gas cost
-deduct cost of wear on your car
-deduct approx 25-30% for taxes and social security.
-deduct cost if purchasing additional “gig” auto insurance
Divide the deducted figure by the amount of hours you spent on the app- NOT the active time.
0:15 Most will see that your “take home” is equal or less than your state’s minimum wage.
On the rare occasion that you had an exceptionally profitable shift and feel the need to advertise that on whatever site, this only entices more new drivers to join up because they think it’s the norm

Some of the best zones are ones with a military base nearby and no huge cities (population over a few hundred thousand). Military bases are full of hungry and tired soldiers that have to get up super early to do PT (physical training) and you need to sign up for a pass in order to get inside the base which not everyone has which adds an element of excusivity. If there aren't any big cities nearby it can be even better because many big cities are expensive to live in which leads to lots of people delivering as a side gig for extra money. I live in a zone like that and routinely get multiple $40+ offers daily. Also it's in the snowiest non-mountain area in the world which makes it even busier especially on the military base because many people there come from areas that never get snow.

    • @Hugh_Vincent

Why would you want to work that many hours if you're working for yourself anyways you should be able to work less hours and make more money that's not profitable to work that many hours.

    • @_MaxHeadroom_
      @_MaxHeadroom_ 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@Hugh_Vincent It seems like the smaller areas are the ones with the better order to driver ratio. Big cities tend to be expensive to live in so the driver to order ratio is worse for drivers there since more people need side gigs. My zones biggest cities have a population of under 25,000 and a military base with a little more than 16,000 and there are some days where theres a steady flow of non stop offers for multiple hours in a row

I'd be more transparent with customers who order... They should know that all the delivery fees do not go to the driver's. They should be more up front that tipping ensures drivers will take their order, less likely drivers will decline... It should also provide estimated mileage and give a tip recommendation, say at least $1 a mile, but $2 a mile would be fantastic

I opened the customer Uber Eats app and looked at one of the closest restaurants. It wasn’t accepting orders because “all couriers are busy”. I went online and suddenly it was accepting orders but at a $20 delivery fee! Meanwhile all they’d probably give me is $2.50 out of that $20 fee!

Good observation with the double Door Dash notifications for the customer and dasher. I hadn't picked up on that one.
I will say customers aren't the only ones stealing food though, and to be fair I haven't had a contract violation from a customer reporting their food wasn't delivered in a long time (knock on wood lol). Unfortunately, the dashers do it too and it seems like it's the new dashers that do. It's happen to me far more times than I've received a CV. I'll arrive at the merchant to pickup my order only to be told that it was already picked up. That infuriates me bc it ends up punishing me for being an honest dasher. You never get ahead or benefit from stealing really. Someone always pays the price. That's the whole idea of the saying "there is no free lunch." Sometimes it's all parties involved that are affected even the theif. I'd say that's the case for the Door Dash theft in general.
The other huge factor with the inconsistency of business for dashers (specifically on a weekly basis) is the constant cycle of new dashers added to the platform. As you said dashers are quitting, but that means new ones are added to replace them. Dashers come and go. It's a huge revolving Door. The very thing Door Dash does to keep new dashers engaged is what leads them to eventually quit! It's crazy! New dashers (or dashers who haven't dashed in a long time) are the ones who are truly prioritized. They get the best orders, but it only lasts so long. I don't know exactly how long, but I think it's to assist them in getting their 1st 100 orders. Once they eventually experience what is more the norm and the orders aren't as good they stop dashing! Meanwhile longterm, trustworthy dashers who know what they're doing suffer through the ups and downs of business/dashers coming and going when we are the ones who should be thrown the more meaty bones once in awhile. I get it that you wanna hook new dashers in but not to the extent they do it. It ends up having the opposite effect! They need to calm down a little bit with sending the better orders to the new dashers to make it a little more smoother for the longterm dashers you would think they'd also want to keep! So I don't even think the inconsistency has so much to do with how many orders are coming in as it does with the way the algorithm works to prioritize new dashers, which is often!
Lastly, ever since the rewards program started the platform has never been so oversaturated with dashers. Unfortunately, it's also been my suspicion that starting this past fall around late Sept/early Oct they oversaturated the markets with an even higher # of dashers allowed on at the same time in all the markets. Some markets are hurt by it more than others. Mine seems to get hit pretty hard by it. The business was awful in October and yet Door Dashes stock was up on the daily throughout that time. The year before I remember it remaining surprisingly pretty steady.

Because if one driver is 3 miles from a restaurant while another driver is in the restaurants parking lot, the offer shouldn’t be the same for both drivers. If door dash sends the offer to the further away driver then the base pay should be more. But I know that’ll never happen lol when people will always take $2 orders going 3 or 4 miles 😂

When a driver forgets something, which happens, or does not follow delivery instructions it is a big deal to those of us who cannot do it for ourselves. I despise that I have to call back and forth to try and get a resolution. There's nothing they can do. They can't charge more for delivery to pay drivers more because then the cost of the meal to the customer will not be feasible to order. Ordering food from a restaurant online for a 3rd party to deliver is not sustainable. Unless Doordash was to go to a subscription model then maybe. With Walmart, customers can sign up and pay for Walmart + and get free or discounted home delivery so Walmart is making revenue from those customers that they can pay to the Spark gig driver. Doordash is just adding a fee to the food order and people are not going to keep buying if their meal cost keeps going up.

Common sense tells anyone that a stranger is using there own vehicle and most importantly their OWN TIME. Seeing that whoever placed the order didn't want to get the food or whatever themselves they should take care of the person willing to bring it to them. The platform and the diner both need to pay the driver but 80%of what the drivers make are from the appreciation from the one that placed the order.. Any particular delivery is minimum 15 to 20 min to pick up the order and deliver it. SO HOW MUCH IS 20 MIN OF YOUR TIME WORTH...Remember you didn't even want to go get it for yourself...Hmmm a driver should make a minimum of $7.00 per 15 min ..that's only $28.00 a hour minus gas. Sometimes or a lot of times the driver is 5 to 10 miles away from the pick up location then 1 to 5 miles to drop off.

Not being selective was leaving me an hour drive to get home and often getting fuel twice I a 10 hour shift. Although it seemed like I was making more not being selective, I really wasn't because I was just working harder and driving more. It's newer drivers that are naive like I started that are taking all them smaller fairs and the companies count on that. I generally do passengers on Lyft in Pittsburgh market but I'm 45 miles from the city, and Jan and Feb is dead on Lyft during the week. I've recently been messing around with doordash in my neighborhood. The hourly guarantee seems to be the way to go. In my market it's essentially an hourly rate+tips. On Friday it was 22.25/hr plus tips. I made 105 in 3.5 hrs, which was decent. For me, it's less time/miles, and I can stay close to home. My plan is to dash during the week and Lyft on the weekend this winter. I average 30+/hr on Lyft during the week and 40+ on the weekend, pretty much April through December. It's only good on weekends during the winter. The rest of the year i can make 1k+ in 30hrs or less on Lyft. I think both can be full time employment with a good strategy. I'd be hard pressed to find anything else with the flexibility or making amount of money I make with Lyft. I literally made 1600 in 38hrs a few weeks back. I'd be lucky to make that much with a CDL, especially being home every day.

💯🎯 yep, food delivery drivers we some of the first jobs they took from US citizens. People say then we should get a more skilled job...that is until they start taking their jobs because they aren't bilingual

@kaliconnect9014 they use their relatives I'd and insurance to set up an account but illegals actually do the delivery. Most don't even speak English.

I believe that type of messaging started years ago with Lyft/Uber. Those apps would show a map of where you are and show areas via colors of busy. So, you would drive towards that area. The closer you got the graph bubble would just go further away.
Also, all those apps make the customer right most of the time. The customer can just accuse. The driver has to go through hell to prove themselves. I quit that world long ago. When they first hit the scene the money was crazy! I mean I knew people that quit their full time jobs to be in the gig economy. Then in a year or two the bonuses disappeared or were less in what they offered. The cut the drivers would get was crazy low all of a sudden. Then we learned how much the company was getting. It was pointless to do that nonsense.
I hope folks make it but I have NO plans of going back. Not even if they change for the better. I just don't trust them. Because there really is no protection. It's like a state that has that cowardly setup of "right to work". That's when an employer can drop you for ANY reason and not have to tell you. So, you as a person can't improve or put up a defense that might result in a lawsuit. I'm just done with that world. Good luck to those sticking with it.

I have a lot of times that my McDonald's does not have my order correct. I am waiting for a refund since November 4th and I have yet to receive it I think with all the added things of tax bags food delivery charge and then you're supposed to get a delivery tip on top of all that you were just charged on top of your food. That's why you're getting such low tips

I don't think it's just that the area is busy, it's also because they don't have enough drivers delivering, like you can check it out at like 2 am and it'll say it's super busy, they likely just don't have anyone driving, not necessarily that they're busy like having alot of orders. . .My overall theory about it is this there are pros and cons if they cap the amount of drivers in an area because people do this type of work due to schedule flexibility there may not be enough people to cover the orders at certain times then they might have to consider making it a rule that you have to adhere to a schedule or get paid by the hour and have that as a set payment. But since they leave it how it is the sky is the limit on driver availability (imo) any time they've got coverage . .now I think it also depends on your area, like where I live for instance the population is growing at a very rapid pace so while there are lots of drivers there is also lots of business and quite a variety of incomes and personalities, meaning some can and do tip huge and some can only do so much so it kinda evens out, some people get pissy about $2 for 5 miles but then your next order might be $30 for 4 miles, like I told a fellow dasher in my area, ya gotta take the lean with the fat, it all works out in the end.

What I wanted to add yes your right on reported it missing. Apartments and certain areas or like tons of people living at a home, homes with multiple homes within it or orders with too many instructions are red flags. So under message the customer I click on the photo then take a picture of the apartment building number or house, building ect and send it to them to let them know I’m at the right location. Just be very careful guys you verified the street and numbers first and not rush yourself you could be wrong. Most drivers follow the pin on the map and not verify the street, building ect. Some apartments will have for example building A 101-108 and B, C, D 101-108 as well but not all do but it can be a simple mistake. I will take extra pictures on my phone just in case delete them later. Expensive orders or orders under a few bucks mostly but can happen within 10. Sometimes credit cards will only let you be a few bucks under your balance to processed. These are likely to be disputed so their account is not under withdrawn or their short on gas money and they need it for that. Any time someone says please don’t loose my order 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thank you! (red flag.) Take tons of pics. If there is a Taco Bell order for example 1 bean burrito and 30 hot sauce packets I’ll unassign the order. Things like 2 mini chicken sliders on the order red flag. Be cautious. Though it can happen to any order these are what I mostly found to be disputed. Like I said when I message them a picture of the house or Apt building and number they think crap he’s proving he’s here so I’ll mark it items missing or miss handled. I’ll staple the restaurant bag or tie it or use sticker label from dollar tree to secure the bag then take a pic. So far this avoided a violation except if they didn’t catch onto the additional photos and still reported it missing. Just carefully observe your orders are complete even though you can’t see inside a sealed bag. When something feels off take pics. I usually can tell when something is not right. If a customer ignores your message or calls red flag. Be cautious they may be looking for you to make a mistake to pounce on you.

It's not o ly the delivery services, sadly passenger drivers are going thru the same ridiculous payment offers. I had previously kept my acceptance rate high and cancelation rate low.
Sample offers are 20 minutes to pickup for a 2 mile drop-off. That's maybe $4 for a 25 minute drive (plus must wait 5 to 7 minutes before paid cancel by driver, maybe$3 after the wait).
Passengers and delivery service customers think it's the drivers; it's not it's the service provider that we go thru.
My non acceptance will plummet and cancelation rise until these apps realize who makes their service

How can the customer say their food is missing when you take a photo of the food at their door or place of business, or at least drivers are suppose to, I follow a dasher on here on youtube and she takes a photo of the food at their door every time, so that doesn't happen where a customer says their food is missing.. or do they say an item of food from the bag is missing, if that's the case, then drivers need to start taking a photo of the food in the bag before dropping it off so they can't say the driver took it, it would be the restaurants fault for not putting the item of food in the bag. Know what I mean? not sure if you meant they never received their food, or that an item of food was missing..

Honestly Sara I agree with you. There is no way I could do this full time. I am luck to get more than $15 an hour on DD, and don’t even get me started on Uber Eats. I really don’t do much DD or UE anymore. I mainly rely on Catering deliveries for the majority of my $. However, I am working on getting my Life and 7:37 Health Ins license and I will be going back into Insurance which is what I did most of my career. But this time I will be on the sales side vs the claims side. I hope that by January I can give up the gig apps altogether.

I'll say this i do doordash occasionally. It is a real problem that drivers do steal food. Even me being working doordash driver. I bought a large doordash order, and it was large for me and my roommate. I tipped pretty decently because of the quantity of the order. I got a Notification stating my driver couldn't find my place so i sent a text with the address and a maps exact location. Then a couple minutes later it said my order was dropped off when it wasn't, so i ended up calling the number it range the first two times i called then the third went straight to voice mail. That driver stole a 40 dollar order with a 10$ tip. Hate to say this, but i havent tipped as well whenever i order doordash anymore even though im a driver myself.
