Nice experimental build and we all like an old Marin feature 👍👌😎 First of your videos I've watched and I enjoyed your relaxed and natural approach to your videography and narration. Easy and interesting to watch and listen. Looking forward to the next one now.

Nice work. I had one of these, that unfortunately got stolen (Århus, Denmark). I still miss it, and will try to find one again.

I keep finding them all the time on Facebook marketplace here in the U.K! I don’t know why, they must have been very popular back in the mid/late 90s

Watched all 3 videos as I have a 1995 Marin Bear Valley SE in my garage and am planning a similar conversion this summer. Only that I will need new wheels. I am debating trying 27.5 inch and smaller tires. Do you think they will fit? I am a bit conflicted... Thanks for the videos, will follow step by step as this is my first big conversion!

Hey, well first off thanks for watching all 3 videos! There is a part 4 coming as I’ve fitted an ebike kit to the bear valley, but long story short I’ve unfortunately had to swap back to flat bars to make that work.
Regarding the 27.5 I wouldn’t bother myself, I’ve got a set on my diverge and the size is very close to 26in, actually calling them 27.5 is a bit of a marketing scam as they sit much closer to 26 in rather than in sitting in the middle of 26in and 29in. Also you’d need to find some rim brake rims, then figure out how to get the brake block to then reach. It’s a whole can of worms without disks brakes with minor advantages at best. Plus there way more good 26in tyres to choose from and for where I live in the UK, a larger tyre width works better on the gravel routes in my area.
I guess the good news is that this weekend I’ve picked up a replacement 90s mountain bike to do another gravel conversion 😅

@@MozOnBikes Thanks for your answer. I'll go with your reco. I need to make this project as easy as possible due to my lack of skills and experience in bike conversions 😅 Also I do have a CX bike that I really like with 700x32mm tires. So 26 inch wheels and as wide as possible tires it is for this project. Will use the bike for shorter, more rougher rides. Cheers!

That's a lot of work, removing all that paint by hand was spectacularly tedious if that can even exist 😂👌

      I’ll take that as a compliment, i think🤔.
It was hard to try and not make that section of the video tedious or super short and all of a sudden it was done. Also kind of hard to do a voice over on other than to say I sanded this bit that that bit and sounding redundant! Hopefully you enjoyed!

Sorry, but the old original logos looked so much better. These are the modern interpretation of the early 90's classic. Not liking this too much. I am a huge fan of 1997-1998 Marins, have about 4 of them myself, so I think it's a pity the old look got killed and patina definitely has more personality.

Yeah I looked into buying or reproducing the late 90s logo, but with that black stroke outline it would have been tricky. I’d need a printer and cutter combo to make that work or do a 2 later print final option would have been to print negative/positive logos up and spray paint it.
It was awaaay to patina’d for me especially if it get turning into my commuter, which I’m hoping it does. If I fall in love with it I’ll give it a proper paint job next summer, I think it’d look cool in the Marin Rasta colour scheme.
