Yeah, it's kinda weird that Disney ended up putting out an R-rated superhero movie before Sony. Though it looks like Kraven will be breaking that trend, for better or worse.
Seriously, there was potential to make Venom stand out from the other superhero films by making the movies R-rated horror movies. Hell, imagine if Sam Raimi was brought in to direct the movies (yes I know, Spider-Man 3 exists but he wanted it to be even darker but Sony was like nah) and was given complete freedom to do what he wanted with the character. Just sad and frustrating how much potential was wasted.
He is such a talented actor, Loved Taboo series, and then when I seen him that he was going to be Mad Max, I was thinking ok lets see how this goes, and honestly he was fantastic in the roll, then they announced him as Venom playing Eddie, and I thought this was going to be amazing especially if they went full R rating, and went Intro movie - Carnage Movie - Planet of the Symbiots movie - but they fucked that up, it would have been cool to have an intro to Jared Leto Morbious, Nick Cages ghostrider, Daredevil, maybe Jessica jones, cage, and a few others, They could have used Scarlet Spider(as a way of getting around the spiderman thing because of the broken universes), and used some of the others like Deadpool and Wolverine, I mean who the hell doesn't want to see Wolverine going full bat shit crazy mode in symbiote form.
That's modern movies and entertainment in general. If you get excited for movies in any shape this day and age, especially from the US, or UK area, I think your brain is big waste lol.

Tom Hardy didn't have to settle for THIS version of Venom for a whole trilogy. He honestly deserved better because from what I could gather, he DOES have some passion for this character and did wanted to do an R-rated Venom movie so badly at one point in time. It's honestly incredible how little a movie with Carnage and Venom (some of my favourite childhood comic-book villains) got me to care about it or be excited.
They did Carnage so dirty. He's supposed to be a perfect symbiosis. That's why he's so powerful. But, the director wanted Venom to win with the power of bromance, so now, Carnage is powerful because he's red. And we're not going to elaborate on that!
Okay I gotta agree with DarkHour about the miscasting of Carnage,Woody Harrelson might've been able to pull off Cletus Cassidy 15 or 20 years ago,but he really doesn't have the temperament for such roles anymore. 🤨👍

As bad as the Sony Spider-Man Universe is, Venom being the best they had is an embarrassment. This whole Sony universe is going to come crumbling down like The Universal Monster-verse did if Kraven is bad.
I don’t mind if the venom movies were rated pg 13 or were not completely comic accurate but I could not stand the fact that they turned him into an obnoxious and over emotional little kid trying way too hard to be funny. Venom in the first movie was serious but he had some funny moments without trying too hard but now every line he has is an attempt to do mcu humor.
I liked the first venom movie despite its flaws but I decided to skip the second one since they fully embraced mcu humor and decided to turn venom into an obnoxious comedy relief character. Still debating on seeing the third one but leaning towards skipping it since in the trailers, venom is still doing mcu humor and Knull is barely in the movie.

Yeah, Critical Drinker was wrong about all three movies having the same director and no one corrected him. Ruben Fleischer (director of Zombieland) made the first one, then Andy Serkis directed the second, and now Kelly Marcel made her directorial debut for the third one (she co-wrote all three movies). Kelly Marcel also wrote the first Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Just putting that out there.

This trilogy of films really makes me wish that a success like Deadpool/Wolverine had came out about ten years earlier and showed the executives Rated R films can and will be a huge success. If these films had been Rated R and been able to more closely align with the comics they would have been phenomenal.
I remember that episode of Family Guy where that acting coach lists Musical Theatre below Legitimate Theatre. That explains a lot concerning why its becoming more prevalent in movies, its a dumbing down.
Surprisingly, the movie is doing well at the box office in terms of its opening weekend. Although, a majority of that money is internationally, not so much on the domestic side. People want to see more Venom, which Sony should consider doing for their next Tom Holland film, they have set that up for a new version.
I actually enjoyed the first two movies and I suspect I am gonig to enjoy this one too. I am not overly fussy when it comes to movies, I just need them to be fun.

My best friend and I had fun with the first film, but LTBC was one of the flattest films we’ve ever seen. We saw it on opening day and had nothing to say about it all. Unsurprisingly, neither of us care to see this one.
I know people would say that it was a stupid idea to make a Spiderverse with no Spider-Man, but the Gotham tv show managed to do pretty well despite having no Batman till the end. Yes you had Bruce Wayne, but the show mostly focused on Gordon and the villains rogue gallery.
Maybe Hollywood are employing the same model that is used with sports and WWE games. Create a deeply mediocre product so you can eventually revive it a few years later, claiming to have fixed the problems with the last product while in reality just changing the coat of paint.
As soon as I saw there were doing the venom symbiote without having Peter Parker first I knew I wasn't going to like any of these movies. Venom's entire existence is due to the symbiote's and Eddie's united hatred of Peter Parker.

I was so looking forward to seeing Detective Mulligan dealing with Toxin. That's what the ending was setting up.... Did it? NOPE! Wasted Potential. It would've been awesome to see Toxin. What a massive letdown.😢
Alas this is the end of the Sony Spider-Man universe. They will still try to make more movies but the universe will die off since aside from venom and carnage, Sony refuses to make live action movies on the most popular Spider-Man characters and would rather make movies on the most obscure Spider-Man related characters. If it does go on and Sony does get an endgame like movie with Knull, we’ll see him fighting against classic characters and marvel legends like morbius, madame web, kraven, and el muerto, everybody’s favorite comic side character that made only 2 appearances in the comics almost 2 decades ago. Also Gorr is another cool character marvel invented in the last 10 years but Disney made sure f him up as well.

I absolutely hated the stupid hippy family in this movie. For some reason that got Rhys Ifans to play the hippy father and his talent was completely wasted here.
I enjoyed this movie, probably more than the previous two venom movies to my complete surprise. Somehow they made Venom into a family-fun movie, far from the comic book version. It seemed like the whole thing though. Was a setup for a female symbiote spin-off. The doctor in the movie had no real purpose until she saved the day at the end. They made a couple of references to her twin brother and whatever mystery electricity power she had but it didn't have much purpose in this movie. The big bad will likely be in the spin-off movie, along with the mystery general, who's probably her twin brother.
The studio probably remembered all the press from emo Toby McGuire and wanted to tap into that vibe with their Dancing Queen. Because all press is good press…right?

The Flash Thompson Venom was the best version & the trek with the Guardians of the Galaxy where Venom is returned to the symbiote is returned to its homeworld was phenomenal. Where the symbiotes are revealed to actually be peaceful & isolation species but the few who leave all end up going insane/evil as result of absorbing those traits from the hosts. It was immediately dropped as soon as the storyline resolved & it was immediately reverted back to Eddie Brock being Venom in a new Venom series with everything that had transpired being forgetten had happened.
what really annoys me is knull is trapped in an inescapable prison but his creatures are able to portal out easily, and apparently theres only one way he can escape which then ending of the film destroys.....but the end credits scene still has knull screaming about he will escape and make the whole universe pay
The woman who directed this one ONLY directed this one. Part 2 was directed by Andy Sirkis and part 1 by Ruben Fleischer. The lady WROTE all three of them.
I like the Venom movies. They're sort of guilty pleasures, like I know they occupy this weird space between super silly and bizarrely bland, separating him from the character of Spider-Man is stupid, and a lot of the potential is utterly wasted... but dammit I just love Hardy's role and the weird bickering relationship between Eddie and Venom. It makes it infinitely more watchable than at least half of the MCU and DCEU movies from the past few years.
The wild inconsistently in the plot and characters was grating. Characters are one moment overpowered, the next incompetent weaklings; sometimes in the same scene.

Yeah, Critical Drinker was wrong about all three movies having the same director and no one corrected him. Ruben Fleischer (director of Zombieland) made the first one, then Andy Serkis directed the second, and now Kelly Marcel made her directorial debut for the third one (she co-wrote all three movies). Kelly Marcel also wrote the first Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Just putting that out there.

This trilogy of films really makes me wish that a success like Deadpool/Wolverine had came out about ten years earlier and showed the executives Rated R films can and will be a huge success. If these films had been Rated R and been able to more closely align with the comics they would have been phenomenal.

I remember that episode of Family Guy where that acting coach lists Musical Theatre below Legitimate Theatre. That explains a lot concerning why its becoming more prevalent in movies, its a dumbing down.
Surprisingly, the movie is doing well at the box office in terms of its opening weekend. Although, a majority of that money is internationally, not so much on the domestic side. People want to see more Venom, which Sony should consider doing for their next Tom Holland film, they have set that up for a new version.
Sony Pictures is using 2024 to dump their stuff. Madame Web, Venom: TLD, and Kraven the Hunter.

My best friend and I had fun with the first film, but LTBC was one of the flattest films we’ve ever seen. We saw it on opening day and had nothing to say about it all. Unsurprisingly, neither of us care to see this one.
I know people would say that it was a stupid idea to make a Spiderverse with no Spider-Man, but the Gotham tv show managed to do pretty well despite having no Batman till the end. Yes you had Bruce Wayne, but the show mostly focused on Gordon and the villains rogue gallery.

Maybe Hollywood are employing the same model that is used with sports and WWE games. Create a deeply mediocre product so you can eventually revive it a few years later, claiming to have fixed the problems with the last product while in reality just changing the coat of paint.
As soon as I saw there were doing the venom symbiote without having Peter Parker first I knew I wasn't going to like any of these movies.
Venom's entire existence is due to the symbiote's and Eddie's united hatred of Peter Parker.
not to mention Venom basically copied Spider-Man's powers giving him his iconic look and abilities...nothing about these movies makes a lot of sense really

Alas this is the end of the Sony Spider-Man universe. They will still try to make more movies but the universe will die off since aside from venom and carnage, Sony refuses to make live action movies on the most popular Spider-Man characters and would rather make movies on the most obscure Spider-Man related characters. If it does go on and Sony does get an endgame like movie with Knull, we’ll see him fighting against classic characters and marvel legends like morbius, madame web, kraven, and el muerto, everybody’s favorite comic side character that made only 2 appearances in the comics almost 2 decades ago. Also Gorr is another cool character marvel invented in the last 10 years but Disney made sure f him up as well.

I liked it, the plot is ham fisted but inoffensive it had a lot of charm though and i like the venom and eddy buddy cop vibe
I absolutely hated the stupid hippy family in this movie. For some reason that got Rhys Ifans to play the hippy father and his talent was completely wasted here.

I enjoyed this movie, probably more than the previous two venom movies to my complete surprise. Somehow they made Venom into a family-fun movie, far from the comic book version.
It seemed like the whole thing though. Was a setup for a female symbiote spin-off. The doctor in the movie had no real purpose until she saved the day at the end. They made a couple of references to her twin brother and whatever mystery electricity power she had but it didn't have much purpose in this movie. The big bad will likely be in the spin-off movie, along with the mystery general, who's probably her twin brother.

The Flash Thompson Venom was the best version & the trek with the Guardians of the Galaxy where Venom is returned to the symbiote is returned to its homeworld was phenomenal. Where the symbiotes are revealed to actually be peaceful & isolation species but the few who leave all end up going insane/evil as result of absorbing those traits from the hosts. It was immediately dropped as soon as the storyline resolved & it was immediately reverted back to Eddie Brock being Venom in a new Venom series with everything that had transpired being forgetten had happened.
They made 3 venom films and I've never seen them and I don't think I know anyone who has seen them.
The lack of quality writing, action, and entertainment certainly rivals that of Madame Web that’s how bad Venom 3 is.

I like the Venom movies. They're sort of guilty pleasures, like I know they occupy this weird space between super silly and bizarrely bland, separating him from the character of Spider-Man is stupid, and a lot of the potential is utterly wasted... but dammit I just love Hardy's role and the weird bickering relationship between Eddie and Venom. It makes it infinitely more watchable than at least half of the MCU and DCEU movies from the past few years.
