Nice demo. No frigging pedals and no excessive overdriving the amp while playing blazing hair band arpeggiated solos! Just a beautiful demonstration on how the amp breaths. BRAVO!
It's got a great attenuator and without it you get a lot of headroom for pedals too. I think it will serve you well. They are also very reliable and quite light too! Hope you enjoy your as much as I do mine!
Not a single bad tone out of this beautiful amp. Many years ago I got myself a second-hand Sportsman (Coda Music!) that I had to sell later on. Shame on me!
It was a 2017 custom shop historic '58 with Monty's PAFs fitted. It's a great amp indeed. Great tone, flexibility and it doesn't blow up like my Lazy J 20 did lol.
It's clean up to 06:27. I have included chapters to let you see the settings I used. It has a gain switch and an attenuator. Very handy to get cranked tones at reasonable volumes. With the midrange control and presence, you can dial in loads of great sounds. Even clean like at the start, it's still fantastic!
@@gringopigwow awsome. I own the slant 6v which is pure bliss however it's unforgivingly loud, low wattage amps with built in attenuators sounds like the way these days I just never heard one that I liked until the skylark came out.
Tone King what? I personally own the Carr Skylark and a Tone King Imperial II. They are BOTH glorious amps in their own right with each and every guitar played
@jessie love Care to share any more about Skylark vs Imperial II? I won't end up with both, but getting very close on Carr vs. Tone King. Played the Super Bee yesterday and loved it. I wonder about the TK attenuator (by clicks) versus the wattage attenuator on the Carrs which sweep (sort of like master volume).
Good morning. I do not prefer one over the other. I've been through MANY amps and I can honestly say that I love them both equally. Sound is such a personal thing and only you can decide for yourself what suits you. Same with guitars. I realize they represent a significate investment and if you can't hear them before you buy, it's a crap shoot. Without actually using them in YOUR setting whatever that may be, including guitars, pickups, bla, bla, you'll won't truly know if they are for you. I will say that both amps are extremely well built to a far superior standard and sound (to my ears) than most all factory amps. I buy used, bring them into the fold and play them for a period of time. If I don't like them, they get moved on. It's that simple. If I lose a couple of bucks I figure it's a small price to pay to try for myself and see if they are what I"m after. If I'm patient, I can usually get a hefty discount from new so I'm not concerned. Sometimes I break even, sometimes I make a little. Just to give you an idea of my taste, there are two others that are still in my fold that are EVERY bit as nice as the TK and Carr. A Vintage Sound Vintage 20 and a Gries '64 AA64 5 wat head. The VS currently has a 10" Celestion Gold (with a 12" to 10" baffle) and the Gries is played with a large pine cab with a 15" speaker. Love them both too. I wish you all the best in your quest!

Thanks 👍👍👍 I just wish I could play blazing hair metal solos lol
Best demo of this amp by miles
Thanks! 🤘🐷🤘
Terrific demo and playing, thanks!
Cheers! ❤️
Just bought 1! Hope It is great for studio work with pedals. Demos tell that this amp exceeds at articulation and 3D sonic qualities. Nice Demo!

I love Bill Frisell's tone through a Sportsman. 😀👍
@@gringopig I used to love Frisell even through a shoe-box!!
Beautiful!
Plus it's nice and light. Thanks! 😃
Love my blonde Skylark! Fantastic amp! What model is your Les Paul?

Man that sounds just devine! Has something special in the midrange going on when you dig in , is it cranked?

I think the tone king Ironman II attenuators are really good. Possibly even better than the built in one in the skylark.
Excellent amp! Very dynamic & sweet. What pickups on the Paul?
These were the Monty's PAFs Curt 👍
better than toneking
I'd love to find out. I suspect you're right 👍

@@liljessielove I’ve been considering getting the Carr Skylark and the Tone King Imperial mkii. Do you have a preference between the two?
