In my latest adventure, I head out to a moorland summit in the MSR Elixir 2 tent which was loaned to me by Valley & Peak. The weather conditions started off horrendous, however there was a surprise to come.......... The tent held up admirably and this is a model which I would definitely consider in the future. I was joined by my friend Ant (links below) and we enjoyed a few beers, some lovely food and we had a great laugh along the way.
Take in the atmosphere of the moorland in this video, with changeable weather, stormy skies and the sounds of the desolate and bleak moorland plateau.

What can I say.... The most fun I've had on a camp in a long, long time Chris, it was so much fun man. That weather on the walk in was so grim I thought we'd be spending the fun night hunkered down pal but with the clouds parting left a stunning night ahead.

Hey Chris, did you know that you can pitch the Elixir 2 fly-first? It takes a bit longer to do, but it's an option if it's raining.
Peg out the footprint; put up the main, criss-cross poles; attach the spreader pole to the fly and fit the fly; then you can attach the inner from the inside.😉
I didn't know that Dean but I do now! Top tip that and very much appreciated!

Another tip from TH-cam for setting up in the rain, though I haven’t tried it myself. Requires some prep of a strap system beforehand but then can keep your footprint dry too. th-cam.com/video/XeUtJVLViO8/w-d-xo.html

Had to laugh when you pitched the doors the wrong way, done this loads with my Elixir too, even after using it plenty of times it still gives me a headache trying to figure it out, a bit like your headache the next morning here. The night before the morning after when you showed that you'd got 3 good strength beers then said "and some red wine" I thought "if that was me I'd be a bit rough in the morning " and i chuckled when you said we feel like weve been dug up next morning 😂 we all know it's not a good night's sleep you wildcamp for and you're always up at the crack of sparrow fart! I only take a 250ml titanium flask of whisky now, for the weight and hangover factor...You get to sleep quick enough after it and feel brand new after half an hour in the morning. Each to his own though pal, cheers for all the content

I'm an inner pitch first camper tbf. It's a kick in the d**k when it rains but tbh I don't mind that trade off as once it's up it's inherently stronger. The crux bomb/storm also has a waterproof inner tbf.
You'll definitely break through the 20k Chris. No drama there ☺️
That break in the weather put a whole new complexion on the camp too, we always say we don't mind the elements drawing in but give me a clear night with views all day, every day 🌞

Superb video Chris thanks, Great to see you with Elixir 2 ! I have just bought it after a long search for my next tent. Using it next week in the Lakes, had it up in the garden and really happy with the headroom / 2 vestibules and overall quality of it. It was your last tent review video that clinched it for me! nice one for the advice.

Very peculiar to see a beer from my very local brewery on this channel. I did not know Lervig exported their beer to markets outside of Norway. I haven’t watched more than a few minutes, and looking forward to your opinion of it.

Fabulous sunset, I love these Forest of Bowland camps with the sweeping views to Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea, they remind me of happy days at Lancaster Uni.

Great video. Just trying to work out where it was you pitched. I can see you climbed Great Hill coming from the Bolton Rd / Abbey Village side. I've done a couple of recent camps this month, on the Black Coppice side of Anglezarke, on top of Stronsy Bank overlooking White Coppice. Lots of ancient half finsihed Gritstone wheels lying a round, probably for a couple of centuries. I absolutely love this part of the West Pennine Moors. Nice choice of beer as well. Noticed at the end, youre' pretty close to the crosswalls shelter on the sunmit.

I have been getting more and more into doing wild camping, and I have decided to get the msr elixer 2 . This video is the one that’s done it for me . Give me a bit of time to get set up, & maybe one day will see you out there

In my humble opinion the Elixer is one of yhe best looking tents on the market. I have a few MSR tents but the Elixer is my go to tent,i just love the look of the thing, i even had a footprint made for it that covers both vestibules.

Cracking little tent mate - I think it's just a case of mind over matter - despite it lashing down, it only got a few drops on and most bead off anyway - the more you become familiar the quicker you can get the flysheet on - you can also just pitch the outer first by using the footprint as its free standing. Thanks for watching mate.

This weekend as it happens, I was showing my mum one of your vids from last year (your first after lockdown) as a wee explainer of why I enjoy wild camping- and how well it showed off the Forest of Bowland AONB, my local area too.
