Hi Paul, thanks for another nice video. I am currently using the Xmid Pro 1 in the North part of Sweden (Umeå last, Boden next). It is the one-person tent I had been looking for (some two-person tents I had been using before were also the one-person tent I had been looking for, but this one is so light compared to my previous nylon 2-person tents, it's a 1-to-4 ratio!). It's too small to have all your stuff with you like you would in a 2-person tent, but there is room for the essentials, and the absides are large enough for my oversized backpack (I'm never doing more than two consecutive camping nights but I'm traveling in Sweden for 5 weeks without a base to leave stuff at). There's enough height to use a pee bottle inside, which makes a big difference in the middle of the night when it's raining outside. The Xmid Pro 1 has stood up to the rain very well, and to a bit of wind, but that was already discussed in the video. It is very airy, which contributed to condensation being extremely minor so far: despite the rain on the outside, on the inside there has only been a layer of condensation so thin I never even bothered to wipe it up. You might find it too airy for the sort of places where you camp; if it's windy and cold, you will definitely have to use a few degrees better insulation than what you would have in another tent. The straight zippers have done a good job of keeping the mosquitoes out, they can be opened and closed very quickly; the vertical ones can usually be operated one-handed, the horizontal ones may require two hands. This has been one of the factors that made it acceptable to have my stuff in the absides instead of with me: access without letting mosquitoes in.

Tent looks like it would be freezing in anything other than mild wind. Surely any weight saving over the 1p solid is offset by the extra layers of clothing you’d have to wear whilst sleeping ??
lol no tent is ‘warm’ that’s what your mat and sleeping bag are for. Unless you’re hot tenting of course and even that’s freezing when the stove goes out.
Tents other than maybe some proper 4 season kit are literally just tarps designed to keep wind and rain out. Your clothing and sleep system and food keep you warm.
I'd bet Andy's quilt, pad and clothing is no more insulated than Paul's. It's true that the mesh may add a couple of degrees of warmth, but it really doesn't change the insulation and kit you bring when camping in those conditions. I had my dcf tent out this past week and my total pack weight, with food and water was under 18lbs. That included a 20 degree F quilt and insulated pad and sleep thermals. The people with me had packs closer to 30lbs and brought double wall tents and a sleeping liner instead of a sleeping quilt or bag trying to save weight at 9000 feet elevation. They froze. I was a bit too toasty warm in my dcf single wall. A double wall tent at a weight penalty doesn't guarantee a smart and warm kit or camper.
Hi Paul, from Argentina, may I ask you something unrelated? I noticed the weather there is pretty similar to Buenos Aires winter (humidity 95 percent, everything wet, lots of fog). I have a new down sleeping bag and I have condensación inside the sleeping bag! As much as it wakes me up and I had to wipe the inner of the bag, with my fleece. Never happened to me in my 45 years, but is my first down sleeping bag, after I decided my 40y.o. sleeping bag needs to retire. Did you ever experienced sometjing like that? I tried at my garden nights of 5 and 7 Celsius degrees. Before the morning the humidity got to the down and I woke up being cold because of it. I only used a thin layer of first skin clothes while sleeping.
Hi, there could be several reasons why this is happening and I’m not sure exactly what conditions you are camping in. I’ve never had condensation inside a down sleeping bag or do you mean a bivy bag? Basically condensation occurs when warm air condenses on a cool surface this is the dew point. There could be several factors, better ventilation in your tent, make sure you are not too hot when you get in your sleeping bag, make sure any clothes you wear are not damp, do not breathe inside your bag keep your head out of the bag, is the bag too warm for the conditions and you’re overheating? You could try using a synthetic over bag to move the dew point outside the layers of the down bag or if none of that works I can only suggest you use a vapour barrier liner VBL. Hope this helps.
At what point does it classify as hoarding? 🤣Striking tent tho for sure. Perhaps a bit too striking for little old Denmark over here, where wild camping is mostly a no-no, but damn.
@@LiLBitsDK No, there are specific smaller sections of certain public forests where you are allowed to camp overnight under certain restrictions, such as hidden behind trees and out of sight, etc. and then there are designated shelters where you can also put up a tent. What you can't do is just put up your tent on a nice hill like in this video for example, or in the dunes of a beach, etc.
@@TomsWhip I guess you think of the shelter spots... you can camp in all the "fri teltning" forests off the path... can't camp on the beach but if you move a bit further in you can camp... except on the shooting ranges and such which has special rules. and then there are all the many shelter spots both public and private, many of them free, some of them paid.
I've ordered from the both durstongear and the kaviso site that the durston website links to when you go to buy their tents. Quick and speedy delivery, shipping also only cost me $55 for some reason. So I got my xmid 1p solid for £70 cheaper than buying one from the UK such as from valley and peak. Arrived in like 5 days. Edit: that was shipping $55 including all import tax and duty fees.
Whereabouts near Manchester is that Paul? I wouldn't mind checking it out for a night. With a tent that you recommended, now bought. Anywhere near the Halo Rossendale? Love that place, and that looks good in the fog with its neon lights shining through.
I preffer my X-Mid Solid 1 for Scotland and the color as well. Not keen on having mesh when cold and windy! It would be nice to see pro in half solid half mesh maybe one day.
Just a heads up in regards to safety. Having your stove and pot sitting up on your table like that is very dangerous in terms of spill ability. Should have it down below on the ground. Safety first.
Triffic vid! I am planning a 2 nighter mid winter here....about 3 weeks time. School hols at the minute, so avoiding the bogans and their ill mannered spawn. I am so looking forward to having the bush to myself.....

I'm sure lots of people who camp a lot probably would welcome your seasoned opinion? happy trails Mate.
Its funny though, i tried this stile Zpacks Dyneema tents. Thing is its terrible in winter conditions. The dyneema is not as strong as they say either, reason is the Dyneema is way to thin. They tend to break en fewer uses than DilNylon tents. Condensation happend when its too rainy, and misty. Its also a problem when you break a pole on the lo g distance hikes. And its not as sturdy at storms either. Super expesive, with shipping and taxes too. Hilleberg does a way better job, but still too expensive and to small for me.
you do know you can just use a stick if you break a pole? what would you do in a normal tent if you broke the pole? hmm? and condensation happens in ALL tents when it is too rainy and misty... and it isn't a tent for SNOW conditions... they have a "solid" model which has less netting and more solid walls which removes some of the draft that is an issue for winter tenting...
Dude condesation happens in all tents, but there is a good reason Silnylon often has Innertents, and "breath" in air changes. Dyneema tents dont you know. Have you ever tried snow camping on summer? With a Dyneema tent? Well I did Zpacks Plex, mid summer, and got stuck in a storm with turned to be a wet and snow condesation windy hell. NEVER AGAIN. And btw I do have 30 years of experience

Perhaps a bit too striking for little old Denmark over here, where wild camping is mostly a no-no, but damn.
you can camp freely most places in Denmark...
I’ve wanted the Durston Pro for a while but nobody in the UK ever has any in stock. I’m wary of ordering from the states
@@feldgraufox4927 thank you, appreciate the heads up 👌🏼
Nice cosy van and great tent
Water is a problem in peaks high up. I took 6 litres up although cheated as ash carried two 😅
Whereabouts near Manchester is that Paul? I wouldn't mind checking it out for a night. With a tent that you recommended, now bought.
Anywhere near the Halo Rossendale? Love that place, and that looks good in the fog with its neon lights shining through.
Hi Paul can I ask was that Dovestones in the distance cheers mate.
I preffer my X-Mid Solid 1 for Scotland and the color as well.
Not keen on having mesh when cold and windy!
It would be nice to see pro in half solid half mesh maybe one day.
Oh I'm not so sure, wouldn't the mesh help disperse the wind?
I'll get my coat 😂😂
I believe Durston is working on a dyneema fly option for the regular xmid and xmid solid!
@@AaronVets Thats good to hear!
Your mates tent looks great also the van.
His mate that’s Andy Beavers ,that’s like saying to messi your mate [Ronaldo] seems a good player
@@johnward-128 There`s a first time for everything.
Just a heads up in regards to safety. Having your stove and pot sitting up on your table like that is very dangerous in terms of spill ability. Should have it down below on the ground. Safety first.
There is always room for enhancement, but I think the table safety was pretty much doing okay
Were you near woolpacks? that was the first wild camp I did With a mate after seeing your old video
Out camping myself too at a campsite tho. Not brave enough to wild camp just yet. One day though ; )
Triffic vid! I am planning a 2 nighter mid winter here....about 3 weeks time. School hols at the minute, so avoiding the bogans and their ill mannered spawn. I am so looking forward to having the bush to myself.....
Where did you get the table from. I think it would be good for hammock camping. Keep up the good work love'n'stuff boyo 😊
I'm searching through the comments for this too
Small table like that would fit perfect in my pannier on the motorbike for the camping trips
I did some digging online, best search term to find tables like that is "Single leg camping table"
Have a good one out there
Enjoyed the beautiful scenery and seeing the Durston Pro in use. ( not so interested in watching the cooking dinner ).
I don’t NEED another hoody… but I want one of those fluffy alpha ones you guys have
Hello! What’s the name of the table?? Great video as always! Fans here from Italy!
A quick note to say you have smashed the 30 daily postings, Paul. I think it's been a revelation for you.
Thank you for sharing your videos.
Pual, BIG fan of your GREAT channel Mate. watching you have those pot noodles, I wanted to know if you use those dehydrated camping meals much and if that is an appropriate topic for one of your videos. I'm sure lots of people who camp a lot probably would welcome your seasoned opinion? happy trails Mate.
What a table
All the gear but no idea
Thanks Paul, were you camping on the Western edge of Kinder?
Camping in peak is illegal btw
What brand is your nice red jacket?
I’m still on the fence about a blue tent. Paul, what do you and Andy think?🤔
How tall is Andy? Would love to know how much room the X mid pro 1 has for really tall guys. I’m 6’5’’
Wise words Andy single skin great
Funny how people say you got too many 😅 my collection is a bit more extensive 😂
what sort of Yellow Pants is Andy wearing ? + The Jumpers Yuse Blokes are Wearing are they Dyneema? Thanks for the Show🍀👍👍
I'm new here. Does anyone know about his stove system? Please let me know.
Nice video. What was the tent?
It was a Durston x-mid pro.
In the middle mountains? Lol that would be interessting. Not even a whole duct tape would do..
Sorry about this but I couldn’t make a word of what your friend said.😮 could you mic him next time?
that translucent tent looks awful, I think Wild Beare uses one sometimes, apart from being lightweight can't think of anything good about it
Hi paul. Just a heads up, im noticing youtube is really pushing people into premium subscriptions by forcing 40 second ads before yours and many others videos, along with multiple sets of minute long ads (unskippable) throughout. I am not standing for this and therefore am not watching videos whilst they are doing so. If you are seeing a drop in views this may be why. I am leaving this comment on a lot of my subbed creators videos with the hope they may pass on the message to yt. Thanks & I hope to watch your videos again soon.
@@adalsm Im watching on the telly app mate, im doomed for ads heh
Ads are what gives Paul the money to be able to make these. I don't like to watch them either so I bought premium. Ad block is bad for creators
How do you enable ad block?
@@adalsmhow do you enable ad block
Maybe my comment was removed? Not sure why? Here goes again. If you're on Android you can use the Vanced app for TH-cam
That campsite looks like the one scene from out of Africa..but different weather
Hey up, burning legs?.. Probably poorly hydrated before you start. Drink a pint of water before every walk. X
dcf suffers badly from micro abrasion. it has half the life of silpoly.. but of course its excellent if you need it for longer trips where every kg counts
£798! Bloody hell.
I'm glad your friend isn't a mumbler or we would have trouble understanding him. 😆
