- A couple of my Patreon members asked me to go over the Notch and Disc features of the XP Deus 2. Hopefully this video hits the mark. If it doesn't I'm sure someone will let me know in the comments.

Hi Scott, I just recently got the Deus 2 and made a program that discriminated out everything but nickels and indian cents and up. Ive been detecting a late 1800s park for the last 20 years with several detectors, and wasn"t finding any more coins, not even clad. i was impressed the Deus was able to find 3 more Indian cents.
I'm not surprised really, the D2 is the real deal. I love that machine. Congrats!
Give that same idea, but using the Relic preset as your base program. Relic is pretty useless in most situations by itself, but with tight notching like that, you may find that you're getting deeper coins.
They should have called Notch "Audio Blocker" because thats what notch does, blocks the audio response.
Brilliant job u legend have a brilliant weekend 👍 😊
Thanks my friend.
Good evening, we ask you a question. Please answer me. Who is the best metal detector? I want to buy what I know. Who is better? Please answer me right now. I have been following you for a long time and I benefit from you a lot. You are my teacher. Thank you very much

Help me out Scott I know you hunt for civil war relics from time to time have you ever seen or heard of a 3 pronged civil war sling buckle?I dug what I think may be one.The only problem is I dug it in Calif.i don't think there was a bunch of civil war battles was fought in Calif.
There may not have been a lot of activity but soldiers could have easily moved back that way and lost something over the years. I've found Eagle Coat buttons in places that didn't make any sense and there were no battles or camps around the area where I found it. You just never know.
Hey, Scott... I watched the whole video, hoping to get an answer to my main question about the differences, but you didn't go there. My main question is... why both? You can't do notch with discrimination, but you can do simple discrimination plus notches with notch. So, why do we have both?
I think the difference is that your discrimination section still makes a sound... that sound that you set on the first tone break. Notched areas are simply no sound at all if the target falls into that zone. Does that make sense to you? Can you think of any other reasons why we have both features?
Yes that does make sense, and think of it this way too, notch just blocks the sound from coming through. So if you don't want to hear anything lets say from 0-50, that will override your disc if you have one set from 1-6.4. You basically cancel out everything using notch. We need to try some interesting experiments with just using notch and no DISC. How does that impact the down or up averaging of the target IDs. You got me thinking now. :)
@@MentalMetal Likewise, does notch affect depth in the same way that discrimination is said to? (my own simple experiments refute that assertion, though, at least with today's detectors)
@@MentalMetal Thinking about it some more... wouldn't using discrimination with an iron volume of 0 also block the sound of discriminated targets?
I woudn't think notch would impact the depth from my tests many moons ago but I need to go back and do this again.
disc with iron volume of 0 should knock out the sound but you have me thinking and I didn't get a chance to run through it tonight. Got home late from work.
Actually I'm looking for some nickels in a site and I was using the WS6 module a notch that all the way up to 58 but I want to leave open59 60 61 62 I guess but I don't know how to knock out the rest from 62 up to let's say 90 can you do that on the WS6 module I want to go back today and see if I can find some nickels that I may have missed
Update the software to 1.10 and you will have 3 levels of notch and then you can notch the other numbers.
