The second chess game seems to foreshadow how Claudia defeats Lestat in real life, with many parallels: (1) Claudia was attacking and tried to lure Lestat into capturing her bishop. But he didn’t take the bait, saying, “One bishop can be captured, but... I see the trap.” The bishop represents the poisoned twin whom Lestat avoided drinking from. (2) Lestat was on the defensive but was still confident when he said, “Rook protects the king, and your queen has been neutralized.” This refers to Antoinette protecting Lestat and neutralizing Claudia. (3) When Lestat realised he was losing, he muttered, “Queen on one side, rook on the other.” This points to Claudia and Louis teaming up to beat him. (4) Although Claudia had reached a winning position, she refused to finish him off with a checkmate. This clearly resembles how she and Louis failed to actually kill Lestat when he was helples
You are so right about all of this. At first, I thought that it was only Louis that failed to kill Lestat, but in reality it is Claudia's failure as well because she left it to Louis. Its one of the few things that nag at me about this part because Claudia (who has thought through and saw everything through up to this point) doesn't take the steps to personally see to Lestat being burned to ashes. Instead she leaves it to Louis which is an incredible lapse in judgement. I mean, Claudia knows that Louis is wishy-washy when it comes to Lestat. He was even having second thoughts at the ball when he dances with Lestat so for her to leave this very important task to Louis is not a logical character move given her previous attention to detail. I can’t say enough for how good this adaptation is! And this is coming from someone who liked the movie when it came out. The characters are all so much richer and more authentic. It always bugged me that NONE of the 1994 cast tried to give an appropriate accent. Lestat never sounded French, Louis never came across as Creole (despite him oddly claiming to be in the movie) and Claudia never came across as a Southern American girl. There was also zero chemistry in the movie. It was unclear why Louis or Lestat bothered with each other. Finally, having Claudia take off on her own and go to school and research made her progression and eventual win against Lestat plausible. It was silly and rushed in the film. This is incredibly good!
I just finished the first season yesterday and I loved it so much. I was worried I wouldn’t fall in love with a vampire show after TVD/Originals but this show changed that. All the actors and actresses did such a great job, especially Sam I was in such awe of his Lestat he was incredible. The set and costume design are all so beautiful too
While I didn’t really grow fond of Antoinette, i definitely appreciated her smarts and the actress’s performance ^^ however i still giggled when Claudia came after her lol, that girl only inherited the ferocious and clever sides of her daddys 😂😂😂
so you think she was planning it from the beginning? or atleast that caught her on to being watched consider how else could Lestat know she was leaving?
Claudia was absolutely brilliant. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 She became the Master of the Game 💯‼️ She outplayed Lestat. Bailey Bass was Awesome as Claudia and ohh 😮 😮😮 so Cunning. 🤔🤔🤔
xD Why are people blaming the other woman(the mortal other woman)? It's Lestat's choice to hold onto her, he has his powers, are you telling me he couldn't compel her to leave forever? She doesn't have power over him, it's just Lestat wanting his cake and eating it too. He wants a husband and a side chick to lean on when he and his husband have disagreements. Simple.
Because even after he basically blew up her life(faked her death and cut off her finger) she still decided to assist Lestat. Just remember though, if you hate the character of Antoinette, it means the actress did a great job.
This series made me feel even badder for Claudia than the movie. Louis in alot of ways did hold her back when escaping and if it wasn't for her child sized body she could have survived better due to her intellegence. She was controled and abused in her human life and her vampiric life was almost no different to an extent.
I still have to wonder if stomping antoinette's head was enough to kill her. I know she impaled her too but usually the whole head would have to come off to finish them for good.
I always wondered why (besides the fact that Ann just wanted a fucked up character) why Lestat, if he loves Louis as much as he says he does, just doesn’t let Antoinette go. I would have because that’s truly what would’ve kept both Claudia and Louis by his side if he had just kept his word and been more truthful. But hey it’s fiction so we gotta keep it interesting somehow. Antoinette was the most satisfying kill alongside Tom in this show! They had what was coming to them! And Lestat, glad he lives, deserved to be alone for a while. Especially after Claudia- (spoilers).
Imo Bailey deserves an Emmy nom for the work she did in season one. And although I'm going to give the new actress a chance I'm sure going to miss her talent.
I don't think so. She seemed to have caught Antoinette offguard after Antoinette was distracted by Lestat's poisoning so she was able to get the upper hand.
lestat probably teaches antoinette how to block her thoughts from other vampires, but only claudia knew about antoinette’s schemes. if someone could hear her thoughts, it would have been her.
Am I the only one who absolutely loved Lestat? I hated Antoinette, I wish that Claudia went away to Europe, really, but I just loved Lestat, since first episode and cried when I thought he was dead. Such a great show.

He didn't want to make her in the first place. It was Louis who emotionally manipulated Lestat into doing it. Then he refused to let Claudia go and just move on with Lestat; which contributed to Bruce finding and assaulting her. And Claudia's equally possessive over Louis; her ultimate motivation is that she wants Louis all to herself.
I think it’s great that the way they reimagined everything. The 1900s era made it so much more fascinating. Also great that they made Claudia older, I always thought it was a bit weird she was like 6 years old. Amazing set, costumes, and acting how could you complain?
@@nickc6158 Right? I loved this adaptation. It's beautifully done and all the changes really enhanced the story. It was familiar and new at the same time with such a fresh breath of air. Important thing is they kept the core and heart of the main story. I swear some people are so mad they didn't get the white slaver owner (even though it's never brought up again after chapter 2 of the book) and they're really upset they didn't get 5 year old Claudia having creepy p*do relationship with Louis.
So according to the logic of both fans and producers, a black pimp, a profession one has to actively pursue, is less offensive than a white guy who inherited his slaves and actually tried to treat them as people and not property. That makes no sense, i hope Anne was paid well for her integrity.
A master can free his slaves. A golden prison is still prison. This Louis actively pursued his profession, but treated his women better than most actually paid his workers, they could leave at anytime, and only took the professor to keep his family from losing their lives in a time where there were so few opportunities for a person of their race. Both professions were wrong, but both had their reasons. It's called an adaptation, so expect adaptations.
@@bellatrixareforkids7406 real Louie treated his slaves better than other slave masters at the time, oh but that doesn't count apparently. This is a shit adaptation and it does nothing but show just how hypocritical certain people are. If it was originally a black character being played by a Chinese person, it would be called raicst and a victim of cancel culture. You know what this is, this like hiring a 400 lb woman to play Superman and then rewriting the characters background so he is from Draculon instead of Krypton. If they wanted to make a show about a black gay vampire then they should've just done an original show.

@@energyismygame hey lets remake Blade but make him a trans korean woman and change the setting from modern america to 1820s Australia. Now tell me, does that sound like a good adaptation?
For the better. Making Louis and Claudia Creole made for a much more relatable cast and more realistic to 20th century New Orleans which is and was, a VERY black/mixed/creole place. Are you also going to cry about Armand being Spanish in the 94 film and Middle Eastern on this show? He is Ukrainian in the books. Are you going boo hoo about Tom Cruise (an American) playing a French nobleman? If not, your issue is with black people, not race or culture swapping.

Finally, having Claudia take off on her own and go to school and research made her progression and eventual win against Lestat plausible. It was silly and rushed in the film.
This is incredibly good!
I loved the Claudia in season two but this actress was so morbid. Her vampiric mannerisms were so ghastly and ghoulish
I just finished the first season yesterday and I loved it so much. I was worried I wouldn’t fall in love with a vampire show after TVD/Originals but this show changed that. All the actors and actresses did such a great job, especially Sam I was in such awe of his Lestat he was incredible. The set and costume design are all so beautiful too
I was gutted when I found out Bailey Bass wasn’t reprising her role as Claudia. She absolutely killed it
Same. Even more so after seeing this performance. I would have done everything possible to work out the schedule for the next season.
Gna miss Bailey bass as Claudia :(
This was great This whole series. Claudia was my favorite. Bailey Bass knocked it out of the park. Good actress.
Bailey Bass (who portrays Claudia) also portrayed Tsireya in 💧Avatar The Way of Water💧.
Bailey Bass has portrayed both a Vampire and a Navi.
Can you imagine her portraying Katherine if The Vampire Diaries gets a reboot?
While I didn’t really grow fond of Antoinette, i definitely appreciated her smarts and the actress’s performance ^^ however i still giggled when Claudia came after her lol, that girl only inherited the ferocious and clever sides of her daddys 😂😂😂
Remember folks, if you hate the character of Antoinette, it means the actress did a good job.
I am going to miss this actress so much. It's giving me Davina vs Klaus vibes.
I have a plan, and it's going to take the 2 of us. "Get off that bench...train leaves in an hour." lolol
so you think she was planning it from the beginning? or atleast that caught her on to being watched consider how else could Lestat know she was leaving?
i think so@@XaldinX
I was worried but i should of trysted Claudia she outsmarted you Lestat 😂
Claudia was a bad ass!!
Lestat in absolute horror as Claudia stomps Antoinette. “Am I next?”
3:05 she mocks his breathing then has THE CUTEST look on her face before the reveal OMG I loved her Claudia so much
Claudia was absolutely brilliant. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 She became the Master of the Game 💯‼️ She outplayed Lestat. Bailey Bass was Awesome as Claudia and ohh 😮 😮😮 so Cunning. 🤔🤔🤔
Antoinette truly loved Lestar to a fault, got to give her points for loyalty
Yeah, shame he didn't quite feel that way about her.
I looooove claudia so much shes my little meow meow
3:06 i love her i love her i love her
When Lestat asks how and who there’s almost pride 😢
Im sure the new actress for Claudia is going to be great but im really gonna miss this one
DAMN, I’m gonna miss Bailey!!
Didn't know the series came out, gonna go watch it now.
How did you like it
Love the books, the movie and this series. I had doubt but this series is brutal. Coming from a straight male.
xD Why are people blaming the other woman(the mortal other woman)? It's Lestat's choice to hold onto her, he has his powers, are you telling me he couldn't compel her to leave forever? She doesn't have power over him, it's just Lestat wanting his cake and eating it too. He wants a husband and a side chick to lean on when he and his husband have disagreements. Simple.
because she is not blameless in any of it.
Because even after he basically blew up her life(faked her death and cut off her finger) she still decided to assist Lestat. Just remember though, if you hate the character of Antoinette, it means the actress did a great job.
Gonna miss Bailey but excited for Delainey to take over
Damn, didn't know there's a series!!!!!!
oh how i love her 😍😍
This series made me feel even badder for Claudia than the movie. Louis in alot of ways did hold her back when escaping and if it wasn't for her child sized body she could have survived better due to her intellegence. She was controled and abused in her human life and her vampiric life was almost no different to an extent.
✨Claudia✨
Season 2 please ❤
If I was to get bit by a vampire I want it to be Claudia
Twisted .
Imo Bailey deserves an Emmy nom for the work she did in season one. And although I'm going to give the new actress a chance I'm sure going to miss her talent.
Did Claudia pretend to be weaker than Antoinette?
I don't think so. She seemed to have caught Antoinette offguard after Antoinette was distracted by Lestat's poisoning so she was able to get the upper hand.
Fantastic
I love louis. jacob is great❤️
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Ela chutando a outra foi mudito emgracado kkkk
🍷
It was a surprising twist for us but Louis and Claudia should have been able to hear her thoughts from the beginning.
lestat probably teaches antoinette how to block her thoughts from other vampires, but only claudia knew about antoinette’s schemes. if someone could hear her thoughts, it would have been her.
Claudia the savage
Can someone tell me what Claudia did?
Tricked Lestat into drinking poisoned blood. She realized that Antoinette was onto her.
Am I the only one who absolutely loved Lestat? I hated Antoinette, I wish that Claudia went away to Europe, really, but I just loved Lestat, since first episode and cried when I thought he was dead. Such a great show.
You're not alone...I love Lestat and his toxic ass
The thing is in IWTV he is the villain but as you get to know his back story you'll realise he's the most sympathetic of em all
Yes, I absolutely love him and I love him with Louis. Yeah, he curb-stomped him and dropped him from the sky but....they're so pretty together. LOL.
It’s easy to like him as an outsider. He is charming and handsome and funny. But imagine being a character stuck under his thumb… or one of his victims. It is perfectly understandable why Claudia hated him.
He's the hero of the novels.
@@nickimillenniumand chose to carry on an affair with Antoinette.
Clever girl. How did she know lestat didn't kill her? 🤔
Where do I watch this and what’s the name
It’s a TV series, Interview With The Vampire on AMC, AMC+ or Amazon Prime ☺️
I only have one question I need answered.....why am I seeing a different Claudia in S2?what happened???
The actress had to fulfill her obligations for the Next Avatar movie
@@ryan_valornagee6984 I'm happy for her but sad for me, she played Claudia so well idk if I can move on....that being said the new Claudia seems to embody the same spirit so here's to hoping it plays out well❤️❤️
Is not how cunning Claudia was, it was after she had been betrayed , so, what are you saying exactly
Wait, Claudia doesn't try to kill Lestat in this one?
Aren't vampires already dead? I'm confusion.
She did so fkin amazing in the show that i can't even watch the second season anymore 😂
Wokmn😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🤩🤩❤❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰😍😍🤩😘
Claudia does she still get killed .cause in the movie she was killed bye those vamps that run the theater
We will find out in season 2 I guess
Obviously. She has to die for Louis' character arc to make sense. If they keep her alive it's just them shitting on the books more.
After reading all the novels it feels like whatever events happened in the TV series inconsequential
Pop⁹I
They did Lestat dirty
Absolutely not, he was perfect.
I hope you mean the way they “killed” him and not the portrayal of him. Sam Reid did a fucking remarkable job; Anne Rice would’ve been so proud
😏he had it coming.
Lestat could be a bit unfair at times but he did not deserve this, esp from Claudia. Thd only reason he tolerated her was for Louis
Cheating husband " lol
He almost beat Louis to death 🙄
@@PerfectlyImperfect93 if a beating can kill a vampire, he might as well walk out into the sun.Lestat knew that wouldn't kill him and let's not forget Louis also tried to kill him.
@@jkidd1982Lestat still deserved this as a wake up call. They all need to realize actions have consequences. They’ll see next season though.
Lestat would never be caught walking around like a 3 year old with pudding on his face, sorry
THat seems to be where they keep slipping up on this show. Lestat is meticulous and not a messy eater.
Nah, it's a visual medium about vampires. I want blood.
The deviation from the book at this point is just laughable
It's an adaptation. Not 1:1. Thanks for visiting :)
@@moodyvamps If that is an adaptation, then the shit I took this morning is an "adaptation" of the Mona Lisa.
@@joes622 Amazing! Put it in the Louvre! ☺
The fact that they changed Louis from being a plantation owner to being a black man is just insane to me, I'll stick with the movie
So u just ingnored the entire show because black people 😂
@@randomgeekcrap They sure are missing out on a fantastic series! Their loss 🙂
@@moodyvamps fr I enjoy the show knowing people like that can't enjoy it
Anyone thinks Bailey’s portrayal of Claudia gives Katherine vibes?
If they wanted to make a show about a black gay vampire then they should've just done an original show.
oh please… it’s an ADAPTATION + it was other times in this storyline… do you really expected him to be a slave owner in the 20s? this series is adapting all the books, so it’s not just the first book on this season… it has bits and pieces from other instalments as well. also, them making this version of louis black actually ads A LOT of dept into this character.
@@energyismygamethe job they did adapting this was as shit as the adaptation as Eragon. The only reason the timeframe was changed is because the idoiots who made this shit think historical accuracy is racist. We cant show any form of slavery without someone claiming it glorifies slavery, even though it doesn't.
@@energyismygame hey lets remake Blade but make him a trans korean woman and change the setting from modern america to 1820s Australia. Now tell me, does that sound like a good adaptation?
this women is a horrible actor
Which one? The one who plays Claudia or the one who plays Antoinette?
Race swapping
Cry
For the better. Making Louis and Claudia Creole made for a much more relatable cast and more realistic to 20th century New Orleans which is and was, a VERY black/mixed/creole place.
Are you also going to cry about Armand being Spanish in the 94 film and Middle Eastern on this show? He is Ukrainian in the books. Are you going boo hoo about Tom Cruise (an American) playing a French nobleman? If not, your issue is with black people, not race or culture swapping.
And?
