@@289cobra9 .......yes ......pure unadulterated raw muscle, put every other muscle car to shame. In a class by itself..... even today it could hold it's own.
I fell in love with these cars the very first time I ever saw one. Great looking little sports car with a huge engine. Such a straight forward idea, kinda hard to believe nobody had done it before Mr. Shelby.
Absolut perfect. 97% perfect. 100 % for me with the chrome bumper. I love these more than the car lift brackets ! and a high ram dual quad mamifold two 4 barrel carbs !
Wow. I have Ridden in a Blue 427 Cobra, (With a Rich College Student!) Southern Illinois University- Carbondale! 0-100- and back to 0 in 13 Seconds! Yep, I sure nailed the Seat Cushions Going Up, and The Race Harness, coming Down!
indeed one of my favourite cars of all time, light weight, big power, good handling. even look how it launches, its perfectly straight. most new cars can't even do that. great video amigo.
A friend of mine has one of these . It had a 351 in it when he bought it with 427 emblems on the fenders. He dropped in a 427 and it's freaking awesome! I rode in a bunch of muscle cars through the years but never anything like this.He punched it down on a steep hill in thr neighborhood in second gear and scared the hell out of me. He says next time we'll start out in first. I never could imagine anything nailing me in the seat like this. Reminds me of Carroll Shelby offering a large bill on the dash if anyone could grab it when he mashed it down.
Looks good, sounds good, and I know it smells good too. The only things I would add are safety harnesses vs lap belts. My Cobra has them, and they comfortable and look like they belong in the car.
That is a beautiful car. I once road in a kit car called a Spyder or something like that. The body was similar to this one but with less rounded styling. The guy said he made the body out of fiberglass and put it on a regular small car. I think an aluminum body like this one would be a better option though - if only for safety and sturdiness.
This particular car has a fiberglass body. The one that I started in the showroom the other day, has an aluminum body. Shelby American makes them whichever way you prefer. Thanks for checking it out!
Driven this last weekend by F1 World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, at the Circuit of the Americas during the US Grand Prix. He also added his signature to the dash board.
Great ride (understated)! Question though about the close up of the right rear tire ~ 4:01 under hard acceleration .... Is that the toe in that's changing or am I seeing centrifugal force expanding the diameter of the tire?
It's a nice Cobra, but not a '65 car, but rather, from decades later, built in Las Vegas by inmates. A real '65 would have been built by AC Cars Ltd. of Thmes-Ditton, Surrey, south of London, and made out of aluminium on a superleggera frame attached to the chassis.
2wattsout a big problem with originals was dynamic toe in under acceleration. These recreations apparently have the same problem (rubber end on toe link). For the life of me, I do not understand why you would repeat all the mistakes on a newly constructed car. Especially when lots of the parts are not totally faithful to original designs anyway.
Once you get bitten by the Snake, it's over. My dream car. If I was a cop, I would pull him over just to look at the car. Wouldn't give him a ticket no matter how fast he was going, just a privilege just to touch it and then maybe I would car jack him and leave him with the keys to my patrol vehicle. Just a thought nothing more 😂
Well actually close, the King Cobra that Mr Shelby had would do that and there were only 2 of them. Carrol had 1 and the other was sold to Bill Cosby and it got crashed. The one you see here would almost do it and it could under certain conditions. But if you have never ridden in one of these cars it would be hard to explain the amount of forces pushing you in the seat under full throttle, amazing really.
I understand about the King Cobra. To satisfy my curiosity, I found an article that compared the '65 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C with the Viper RT/10. It's an old article but still relevant. The Viper did 0-100-0 in 14.1 secs and the Cobra in 15.2. Not the10 sec the KC can do, but still incredibly impressive.
Actually there is a small factory in Germany building replicas with huge power. Just hit "Weineck cobra" in the search. 0-200kph (0-120mph) in about 5.4seconds...
Back in day, I had a 1/16 scale either "Monogram" or "AMT" - I can't remember which - model car kit of it. I think it was MOLDED in medium blue already, about the same color this one is. Looked impressive sitting on a tabletop.
Not all Shelby's are created equal. Look at 10 of them, small blocks, Big Blocks, fiberglass bodies versus aluminum bodies, rectangular steel frames versus cylindrical steel frames, 4 speed vs fives, carburation versus fuel injection, position of engine in compartment, even the bodies are different. The small block, petite body, is better going into a corner and coming out of a corner. Not all Shelby's are great handlers. Iron American Dream on TH-cam Share it. Take a ride across the promised land. Ride a Harley.
It's not an original...it's what is known as a continuation Cobra. It is actually built by Shelby American and is almost exactly like the original, except a bit more powerful.
Tight car. Weak vid'. And plz dont take it the wrong way its just that many of us are watchin and hopin to see one of the meanest autos on 4 wheels spit venom and it just wasnt happening. I can understand if, and i assume that the case is, this isnt his car and so he has to drive it with care but it would have been nice if he could have found somewhere other than parking lots and traffic shared roads to open her up a little more. None the less she's a beauty. Perhaps at some point down the road i'll have the $ to own, and a stable to keep, one of these all-time classics!!!
The most PERFECT American sports car EVER made! If I could own 1 car only, for my garage, that would be it.
@XWriter100 That car would be Death in snow. We are talking Fun play vehicle. Not year round cruiser. But I live in Washington.
Simply the meanest , sexyest thing ever put on four wheels.
.......it was a BEAST. I believe for a number of years it was the world's fastest stock production car.

Great to see a classic actually moving instead of watching some wanker walking around it at car show

RIP Caroll Shelby

Best sports car ever made by far. I’ve wanted one for over 50 years. Can I assume that’s a Super Performance since it bears the Shelby logo?
This is a true Shelby American CSX "continuation" Cobra.

Then there's the replicas for about 1/2 price. But only a CSX is the real deal
The 427 is a monster but a v12 Ferrari is a symphony of power ! RIP Caroll & Enzo !
Yes you're right, ever seen the film gumball rally with the cobra 427 racing the Ferrari 365 GTB 4 Daytona from coast to coast.
Greatest car ever
Definitely one of my all-time favorites too. Thanks for taking a look!
There isn't much of anything out there "factory" made that can out accelerate one of these. I have yet to see it.
Sexiest car ever built.
Great ride (understated)! Question though about the close up of the right rear tire ~ 4:01 under hard acceleration .... Is that the toe in that's changing or am I seeing centrifugal force expanding the diameter of the tire?
+2wattsout It's riding on bias ply race tires, so it's most likely the tire growing taller during acceleration.
Watch a top fuel dragster in slow motion. The rear tires seem to stretch a LOT under full acceleration.

427 is a beast but I prefer the refinement of the 289 version.
Small block does give you better weight distribution...
God please I want one so bad.
Short shifts let it go full throttle take the revs up
Very sexy car ... would be great to take that to the Sonic for some Chili Cheese Tater Tots and Lemonade ...
It really would be a blast. Thanks for watching!

575 HP would blow that Dana 44 to pieces if pushed a little. A Dana 60 is more in order with a 4 pinion Power Lok differential.
I think it gets away with it because it's such a lightweight car.
