Haha... the funny thing is I know what city they live in. There are awesome Italian food options that are closer to where they live than Olive Garden. I know because I grew up in the same town. Olive Garden has its place in small to medium towns where you can’t get good Italian food, but not where they are living.

The beyond ones were also prepared by someone with actual cooking ability and not made at a fast food joint. They were made with better ingredients and effort. Id say thats a big enough handicap against the fast food.

If you season the beyond beef the same way that Taco Bell seasons their beef you might have a closer experience to the original, but it looks like josh just put plain unseasoned beyond beef in there. The seasoning in the meat matters.

Although beyond meat tastes really close to beef, unless it’s smothered in sauce, it has a particular flavor that would be easy to pinpoint if you’re eating it over and over

You guys need to do a video on the impossible Burger. Seriously. It was good the first generation but the most recent second version of the impossible Burger is mind blowing.
Impossible Foods is one of those companies to be following. They're making massive strides in meat substitution. It tastes even better than beef.

@@whiskeygrandpa1426 The state I live in, Beyond Burgers are everywhere from Carl's to Freebirds to the movie theaters. In FL the impossible burger was everywhere. I've tried both and love both. I think impossible had more meaty texture. I think both are equally good subs.

@@MayorBrownn I don't think that's always the case , when mixing soy chorizo with food it tastes good cuz of the seasoning you can almost not notice at all but by itself obviously doesn't have the same texture as actual pork
I would assume josh seasoned the beef to be as close to the original dish as possible, he’s usually pretty thorough

I think it's good to keep in mind that vegan/vegetarian food is not the TASTIEST option, but the point is it has to be tasty ENOUGH to consider it a decent replacement if you want to cut down on your meat consumption. (And this may be an unpopular opinion compared to extremists but... I think it's okay to just replace your meat occasionally and gradually instead of going all out vegan at once. Especially if you have money or health issues stopping you from skipping animal products entirely, you know?)
I mean, I think I eat tastier food now as a vegan than I ever did before, but it's also because I'm more willing to try new things even if they sound "weird" or "alternative". And I understand its hard for non-vegans to get over the mental bias that tells them to EXPECT non-meat foods to taste worse, but... people have that bias bad, to the point where someone will be proclaiming how delicious their food is right until you tell them its vegan and you see their demeanour change and backtrack to say "oh, its actually not that good". It's a lot tastier for a lot of people when they don't know its vegan and you gotta ask yourself why at some point.
i mean yeah of course, the less meat the better. but we can't kid ourselves, meat will always be exploitative to animals, unhealthy to humans and speed up the environmental destruction of our planet.
Once you stop eating animals and animal products you begin to realize that the “tastiness” of those products is just an acquired taste, as that was all you used to eat. Now, having not eaten meat in 2.5 years, the smell of it disgusts me. Beyond Meat is great for people who want to cut back on meat and transition to vegetarianism/veganism but can’t let go of that “taste.” Over time, you grow accustomed to not wanting meat all the time :)

I had my first Impossible Burger at a restaurant in Oregon earlier this month. I was REALLY impressed with the beef-like taste and texture. I will happily switch to this product as it becomes more available this year.
I have a friend who has his "Link" moments too. The way Rhett looked at him when he dropped the small pile of spaghetti is something I'm too used to. 😂

I loved this episode! Would love it if you taste tested different restaurant versions of the “impossible meat.” There are a ton in LA! (Burgers, nachos, tacos, etc)
In Canada, we have a fast food restaurant called A&W and it has two burgers that are beyond meat which are the "Beyond Meat Burger" and the "Beyond Meat Sasauge And Egger".
A&W is also an American company.

I worked for Wendys too and yea that's true. We would put them in ziploc bags, and put them in the freezer. Next day it's chopped up and thrown in the chili and you have to stir the chili ever so often in an "8" motion.

I find it better to just pull an all nighter rather than sleep (or try to sleep since it takes time for me to fall asleep) couple of hours. I also feel more tired after sleeping too little than if I don't sleep at all (of course I will totally crash after some time, though). If it's 4 hours it might be worth it.
In Melbourne they have a non-conspicuous vegetarian fast food joint called, Lord of the Fries. You walk-in thinking it is a typical burger joint and then realise there is something different about your burger. At first I was like WTF, but forgoing those initial preconceptions really helped w/ the overall taste and I found myself going there whenever I wanted a burger.
Alastair Hewitt that’s really cool! Wish we had a place like that in Houston, but for some reason it’s a sin or un-Texan to eat vegetarian, and so it’s hard to find veg places unless they’re Indian/Mediterranean. It’s been slowly getting better though with an influx of people moving here from all around the US and the world

Well, Beyond Burgers are not really meant to be crumbled and used in recipes in all fairness.
I must admit as a kid who grew up on a beef ranch and would have tough time going full vegetarian, I absoloutely LOVE beyond meat in burgers and will try to use them reduce me meat consumption
But they do have an entire page for recipes on the beyond meat site

I have tried the Beyond Taco! It was actually pretty good. Doesn’t taste like beef, of course, but it’s still good in its own right.
I made kebab for my little sister who had never had it and she loved it. Not because it tastes like meat cause she is a vegetarian since she was 7 and she is 23 now. But because of the intensity of flavor and spices. It was really good and not because it tasted like meat. just a dish of its own
