    That's a good idea.

    If anyone has Houdini breeds like Siberian huskies you may want to consider using metal zip ties for this. They will chew those plastic ones off, pull the wire up and get out very quickly. I’ve seen it happen many times.

    Could you put pine shaving on top of the gravel?

    I have also put this on top on my kennel because my dogs like to climb out.

    I did this with the same 10x10 retriever kennel from tractor supply for my 6 month old German shepherd. It was the perfect setup. I covered the bottom with gravel, and put a couple bags of pine shavings on top. The pine really helps with kennel cleanup be cause its absorbent. The only problem I had was the overlay of panel in the middle. Because it was sharp where I cut it, I left a strip in the middle open and zip tied an closed end to the wall and covered it 2-3 inches thick. All done for about $150. Thanks for this info sir.

      You are welcome! I’m glad it worked out for you! I see no problem with a panel gap in the middle of the pen. Near the walls is what’s critical. 👍

    I have something like this but I believe it's only one big piece for my 6x10x10 (measurements probably wrong) big kennel. My dogs were not too happy w/ me when they saw that. No zipties needed. I don't know what mine is called. It's just looks like a heavy duty cage lying on the ground. Then, I had a load of dirt shoved on it.

    Hi There. I was curious to see how this technique has held up for you. I'm desperate for a solution to keep my dog in his kennel and I haven't really been able to find any videos talking about the results a while after the process of setting this up. Thank you!

      Hubble bubble thanks for asking! Our 60 lb. Labrador has not been able to get out since the installation. This idea came from a friend that is a breeder and uses it regularly in his kennels. You can trust it!

      @@homeinthesticks2123 Fantastic! I am going to try this method out. I have a medium stray border collie mix who is wonderful but is being kind of a nightmare when it comes to keeping him in a kennel. Thank you for all the info!

      Another option is horse mats. They cant dig through those hahahaha. I use them at moment. Easy to clean up . Will be doing some above ground kennels this year hopefully.

      @@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill hmm, ok so I'm wondering if maybe I should get big wide pavers, with a horse mat mat on top... But not sure if the chain-link kennel can just sit on top of that without moving too much. I have a 70 lb dog, he's not crazy, but he will jump up on it so...

    $20 for the panales are like $60 in Nj and the rock will cost me about $100, thanks for the idea on how to put the panels in the truck because my local tractor supply doesn't deliver(?)

    How do you prevent the stones/gravel from going outside?? My giant schnauzer dig like a champ and everything may leaves the area

    • @must_love_labs
      @must_love_labs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A little does go outside. Mostly when my Labradors dig they throw the gravel to be center of the pen. I use a flat blade shovel to level it back out once or twice a week.

    Roll the damn panel up. I put them in my keep all the time. That ain’t how you put a welded wire panel in a truck.

    Does this method work if your yard is like a river when it rains? I’m in the process of setting up a kennel for four foster pups but don’t know how to keep the rain from flooding the floor every time.

    If the kennel is outside unlike your shaded area will the rock be too hot in the summertime?

    • @homeinthesticks2123
      @homeinthesticks2123  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure it would be. Somehow someway you have to provide shade for your dogs.

      I'll be doing a concrete slab, personally

      They are nice too. Makes for easy cleanup. But, expensive for a big kennel. I bought one piece and it almost broke me. 🤣 But, I do plan on getting more.
