There is no battle between the two, science explains the word around us and is never used to specifically support a ideological view, and is being corrected and peer reviewed all the time. The Vedas literally are against idol worship, if I'm not mistaken they also talk about the singularity of God... yet people like in other religions, seem to either dismiss it, or like you said, the people who guard the scriptures hold back what isn't convenient to them...
The Vedas even talk about Prophet Muhammad (saw), they describe him as a spiritual leader who will come, and spread good on the world.
They describe his followers perfectly, our iconic beard, circumcision, eating meat without too complex of rituals, and more... I should get you the references, but I recommend you Dr.Zakir Naik, he studied comparative religion and mentioned the references, there are a bunch.
It's funny because a lot of people who say to follow the Vedas are even killing Muslims, and don't realize we probably are the extension of their religion (assuming they come from revelation, which we don't know, but it's highly possible since we are told 124.000 prophets have come to the Earth since Adam(AS)).

As an Indian I confirm that everything he spoke about ancient Indian epic Mahabharata! Is 100% true. Vimana are one of the mythological flying objects which were use to travel across the world as written in Sanskrit epics. The predecessors of the flying vimanas of the Sanskrit epics are the flying chariots employed by various gods in the Vedas: the Sun and Indra and several other Vedic deities are transported by flying wheeled chariots pulled by animals! And it is hard to believe that flying objects were mention in Mahabharata as it was written in between the 3rd century BCE and the 3rd century CE.

Let's remember after we used the atomics on Hiroshima and Nagasaki we finally saw what kind of devastation and the effects of such blasts and the the radiation had on the human body, note that what we discovered was written down in ancient Indian Sanskrit writings that described the use of atomic style weapons thousands of years ago during a war between their ancient gods. Everything from the bright orange red mushroom clouds down to the effects of radiation poisoning on the human body.
So needless to say we only rediscovered a technology and it's nasty effects when used as a weapon.

What is fascinating is that the Germans during WW2 there was a very secret program using technology seen in this video. The Germans/Nazis use mercury isotope in a thing called the Nazi Bell. As assumed, there were two containers containing the substance, rotated at extreme high speeds in opposite directions. The Bell is injected with electricity which allegedly caused the Bell to rise off the ground. Now, I can't say it is true, but if you read books by Joseph P. Farrell, he discusses this very subject. So, it may be that when the Nazis were scouring the world for antient technology, they came across this. The trouble is that any and all materials and documentation vanished when the war ended, and some country got their hands on it. I wonder if Lockheed Martin is working on such technology.
Anyway, with this information presented in this video, it seems mankind did not originate on Earth but civilizations came here long ago. Hence, the recording of flying machines and battles fought.

Such weapons were used on the planet Narn in Babylon 5 TV series. Such a simple weapon, a rock speeding towards Earth as extreme high speed is extremely destructive. Most likely this is what happened. In the TV series, The Centauri devastated the Narn planet.

I wouldnt be totally surprised if there were nuclear weapons or other things similar to what we have today, but the further back we go the more primitive we are. We wouldnt have been incapable of discovering nuclear power but likely to immediately try to play god with the power in the absence of the proper science needed to fully understand it. We finally just became advanced enough to understand and control our discoveries, although, i'm sure we'll eventually discover an even larger power that we cant control and we get set back again. However i dont believe that life will ever actually end, it literally just exists to keep on existing, it may take 10, 000 or millions of years but some form of life will just keep adapting to whatever conditions it has to. Even beyond the destruction of our solar system, there is plenty of time for organic life to keep spreading and adapting. All of the living organisms/species on earth, coming into being and dying off or changing are like natures way of user prototyping.

Either all this is a blatant lie, or we were very much mistaken about the development of mankind. Probably, it could not have done without contact with aliens. I would like to believe in all this, but it is very difficult. Be that as it may, what happened to the Harappans really leaves many questions and gives room for imagination. Sometimes the history of our species leaves so many agonizing questions... I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of the truth, but it's interesting to talk about it nonetheless. The Indian Epic "Ramayana" which has been dated around 8000 BC, has an incident where Lord Rama who has invoked "Bramhastra" (a celestial weapon equivalent to today's nuclear missile) for firing upon the deity of ocean (since the ocean deity wasn't granting audience to Lord Rama despite 3 days of complete penance & prayers) later directs the same Bramhastra towards north - western coastal area of Indian subcontinent since the ocean deity petrified of Lord Rama's rage and celestial weapon appears before Lord Rama; grants the permission to cross the sea by building ocean bridge by suggesting who can do so and how.
At the same time, the ocean deity seeks forgiveness from Lord Rama and suggests Lord Rama to direct the Bramhastra towards the north western coastal area where certain demons are abusing the ocean life since the arrow invoked by Lord Rama would never go in vain nor can be withdrawn.
So is it possible that today's desert of Rajasthan or Kutchch be effect of this incident?
