    I just used the Mindflayer level down strategy. SO much faster than the trap, as well as I don't have to try "teleport" every time. It was a bit difficult the first few attempts, though, as I don't have Orlandeau yet and Luso as a dragoon (with Javelin II from ninja rare battle) was having trouble killing everything before dying. The last attempt that I just finished, I had him with Arts of War, and I got a lucky roll with the enemies that appeared. It was ALMOST enjoyable spending 30 minutes leveling down. Thank you again for the video!

    I prefer to use toad vs toad, both with berserk and petrify the rest. Fast Forward and voila, auto farm. To optimize a knight can break the attack power of the toads before to be petrified. Basically, you just need a oracle with berserk + petrify and in the second abilities use black magic with toad. A second unit can be a monk with chakra to give free MP to the Oracle and in second abilities Battle Skill to break power attack. The oracle petrify himself too. You get the job mastered and like 30 lvl in just 15 minutes and in one single battle.

      oh yeah another fun way to play early game sometimes is to grab a type 2 or red bull demon and shield them with ether the mp shielded allies or some cheaper auto riviving skeletons and have it keep using the move attack power up, till it can one shot every enemy in the battle. around 30 should do for early game and it gains i think 2 power each turn.

    Thank you for this. I did my first level down process a couple days ago. However, I used this map's de-generator trap (WOTL IOS, by the way), making Ramza invisible and just teleporting too far for success over and over. It does appear that it would be faster to use the Mindflayer, though, unless you speed up said leveling down character. Also, do you know enough about not going to 99.99xp to know whether those last few levels make the stat boosting different?

    • @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078
      @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good question and I honestly don't know the best answer. There seemed to be some randomness to when you actually get the boosts in your stats. I wish I knew the average number of stat boosts when going through the process to aim for and if you hit that many boosts you could just quit and work your way back down.

    • @infiniteaaron

      @@theobsessivecompulsivegame9078 from a Reddit I read, it appears the early 50 levels have less impact than the late. First 50 levels in mime, last in ninja verse the opposite, the latter seemed to have overall better stats. I haven't done any testing, nor do I think I have the patience to test. It took me about 30 minutes to level down from level 60, and then nearly 6 hours to get back to 99. Then again, I probably could have shortened that time leveling up and down with the Mindflayer AND killing. The Ninja is super strong once it has some decent weapons. If the weapons meet the same strength as the highest party level, the ninja can basically one shot anything (technically two, since it's attacking twice). Unfortunately, I just switched devices for the next couple days, so I am having to restart... I wish there were a way to transfer save files, or even just completions, so I don't have to beat the game again for the overpowered poacher equipment on IOS.

    Leveling up as a monk then down as arithmetician is a good option as well. The only stat that won't level is MP... which can easily be fixed by leveling up as a back, white, or time mage.
    White mage and monk are, weirdly enough, the best classes for the leveling trick since they both have significantly higher growth than the arithmetician class, which is the lowest total growth class in the game (there's a few classes with lower growth in a single stat, but they tend to have good growth in all other stats)
    I should mention that that's on the PSP version though.

    I've always found that I prefer powering through as many jobs on my generic 4+Ramza as I can and just statboosting them, I know the holy knights are fun to play but given the amount of time you have with your average team and ramza in the beginning, and how unneccesarily powerful the stat raising makes you, that theres no need for the special classes even from the first 99. Some fights are harder (dragons/behe's and whatnot) but Ive always found the gen team is more than adequate.

    How did you get your first character to level 99 though? for example, how do you level up Orlandu to level 99 without accumulate or anything like that? I'm stuck at end game right now trying to figure out how to level up for midlights deep with special characters that don't have access to accumulate for easy turn grinding. Removing Orlandu's weapon to attack a teammate is innefective because no matter what job he is with his fists he will do 150 plus damage and then your stuck burning through x potions. I know this is old video but hopefully someone can illuminate me.

      I use Ramza and his yell (I think it's yell) ability on himself. This speeds him up and when you cast a skill on yourself you always get a set amount of exp. The benefit of this is you will get turns more quickly too so often times you'll get turns back to back. Ramza should level quite quickly doing this. For the other characters you can then cast on Ramza and if he is already 99 they will get quite a bit of exp.

      Characters gain permanent stats (like speed if you level as a ninja). Also there is only so much you can do to avoid gaining exp. The only problem that arises from raising enemy levels is early on the random battle monsters will be stronger while your equipment remains stagnant. I don't know why you're wasting extra time by attacking when you can just use Focus instead it has a faster animation. Also if both characters were ninja they would both be getting double experience, would also be better if you had five total ninjas, that JP would Skyrocket from every single ninja making an action with other ninjas getting the spillover JP for that job. By the time you get back to the first character the spillover from all other four freindly units. You would have gained basically a free JP act turn without even acting.

    • @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078
      @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because neither of these characters can use focus unfortunately. Focus is only usable by the generic squires. I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say 2 ninjas would mean double exp. The amount of exp a character earns has nothing to do with having more of them in the battle. Also the goal here was to just level a character quickly, not grind JP. You are correct about spillover JP though, so if that was a goal that would definitely be better.

    • @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078
      @theobsessivecompulsivegame9078  6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Basically it is a way to increase your characters base stats. You level up as something like ninja (for speed) then level down as bard (or dancer for females). Because bards and dancers have bad stat growth by de leveling as 1 of those 2 classes you actually gain additional stats when you level back up. It's a very long process but you can really make some powerful characters.
