PS5 too. This game is kind of a mess right now, but hopefully they will get it fixed with some updates. And it definitely doesn’t look next gen. Somewhat disappointed to be perfectly honest.

Sorry but the first thing... Why codemasters had made wrc with the unreal4 engine and not with the unreal5?! And i really think that the codemasters "house-engine" EGO made a really better job in DR2.0... WRC actually don't looks like a finished developer job... It's not a round package, i think... I read in a comment section that Unreal Engine 5 was not released yet when they started developing this game so that is why it is in UE4. I also saw someone comment that the reason for the enige switch was that thier own engine was aleeady at it's limits with Dirt Rally 2. I am still dissapointed as well tho.
For some reason, I can't hear the gravel hiting the floor of the car when playing using the chase cam on the new WRC on Series X. It's only audible if I turn the engine sound way down, which I'm not going to do.

I don't understand the hype around EA WRC. It looks like any other WRC to me and the handling looks slightly better than V Rally. EA has been paying influencers off left and right for this one.
Bingo. The hype was beyond crazy, huge sim racers who are normally very critical, gave this game a full pass with all sort of issues both performance and handling.
That's how it works. The big companies buy successful IPs. Then they push out half finished games as quickly as possible and give them huge marketing budgets. People preorder and buy at release because everyone online talks positively only to realize they bought an beta or even alpha for full price.
It's not better or equal to DR2. It has the stages and cars I wanted for the dirt series... just in an EA arcade rally racer with graphics to suit one... lighting is bad and DR2 was manageable with a controller, the roads in WRC don't allow a natural feeling drif... it's just not a next gen dirt quality game it's an EA game.
How you gonna so a sound comparison video with no track side shots?? The audio reflections, reverb, and echoes are what makes Dirt Rally unbeatable in the audio dept but you cant hear them from the chase cam (just like real life).

wrc interior sounds are better, dirt exterior sounds are better, dirt has far better graphics, wrc has far better maps. wrc has better handling for tarmac, idk which wins for dirt/gravel surfaces opinions seem mixed. wrc has better campaign. Was really looking forward too this game, and will still prob pick it up at some point but really sucks that the visuals are not up to par. Graphics matter to me and graphics degradation from a newer released title is doubly bad. Maybe not 100% fair in this case since it's not technically dirt rally 3 but as far as i'm concerned it should be treated as such.
It's kinda weird that some wrc stages actually have better graphics than DR2, but there are more stages with bad graphics than with good graphics. Some stages in this WRC look like old dirt 3 graphics. The cars also have greater detail in WRC than DR2. I think the game released with many stages not fully finished graphics-wise because of some stupidly short deadlines EA gave the devs. For example look at this stage at 15:31 vs this at 16:45. The difference in graphics is like 2023 vs 2015
wrc italy looks really good while mexico looks like it could be in dirt rally 1 also while stages are better in wrc the actual road surfaces are far too smooth making the game feel quite arcadey and easier to drive
I actually re-installed WRC Generations again last night. I did a one on one comparison on PS5 and WRC looks significantly better. BUT…..not better than DIRT Rally 2.0!!!!! WRC is apperently next gen only. It looks worse than a previous incarnation on lesser hardware on a previous generation though. Dirt Rally 2.0 to Dirt Rally was even a large graphical step forward in the same generation. This is a five year development cycle and new, much improved hardware and it looks inferior in many ways. What bothers me even more is that I find the track layouts uninspiring, barren, boring and generic. For instance Monte Carlo is almost a.i. generated like it is done with the trackbuilder in Dirt5. The uphill righthand corners keep repeating themselves in exactly the same way. It is like driving the same road for 17 km’s. Trackside details, elevation (like the Turkey track in Kileton’s efforts) etc. are all substantially lesser implemented than in Generations and even Codemasters’ own Dirt Rally 2.0.
They had it spot on in the first Dirt Rally all they had to do was work on the aero physics 2.0 wasn’t that good imo. The cars were too floaty, they were like a bar of soap in a wet sink

Yes, it was. Stages are much better. Not as good as in generations, but better. Dirt 2.0 was really bad handlingwise. Way to fast gameplay.
