Bruh gotta be one of the most chill looking jobs ever. I know it takes a lot of learning and experience to master this craft so I appreciate the hard work this man does.
I will be honest Capt Willy. I thought some one was playing a video game. But when I realized it was in real life. Well I had to watch the whole video. I have never seen a tugboat in action. It is pretty awesome to watch. Thanks for taking us with you.
yeah, I also been happy about that. All I do is watching cooking shows and mighty ships and mighty cruise ships shows. I was so glad that there is more maritime videos for me to watch on youtube
My nephew just made captain in December. He’d been a mate for a few years now.. he’s on a tug pushing a tanker barge . He sales from Texas to New England and back.. 3 weeks on 3 weeks off… working on being a harbor pilot..
Must admit, if I was a young teen again looking at this I would be looking into how this could be possible for myself! This video will help give career ideas for younger generations that might not want to go into office work wanting a be practical and skilled career to be proud of. As an adult, I am enjoying watching these wonderful machines at work and respect to those working these powerful things which are beasts. Now I am curious on what steps you took to operate one of these tugs out of curiosity. TH-cam recommended a gem right here.
Much appreciated!! That really means a lot! It’s a 3 to 4 year process to get into the wheelhouse. You can go to maritime school or work your way up from the deck. Both take about the same amount of time
Wonderful. Beautifully shot and no interruptions. I have been on tugs many times in Sydney jus as a visitor and know a little bout how it all works. Fabulous machines you have nowadays. Best wishes. :-)
Super video :) It was really interesting, the whole crew and how the tugboat works, it's all about a coordination, cooperation and communication I'm a pilot so this is close to what I doo espacially whan I'm on the big civil airfields :)
These containers contain various goods, items, and so on. Even your small package from Aliexpress goes through such a difficult path. Thank you for your work!
Nice job, nothing like a good pull astern then something makes you jump like a cup hitting the deck to loosen the stern tube stuffing gland! ha ha... a few more boxes on their way.
This is fascinating to watch. Was the radio talk confirming the 6:45-7 at dock, and 7-8 on tether so everyone is on the same page for billable time for the tug services?
Wow, how cool! Really got me thinking about how enjoyable it must be to work with Carlos and the other boats every day. Is it only you two on your boat on a typical day? How many total boats are usually hooked up to a large vessel like this? Thanks for sharing, definitely one of the coolest things I've seen in a long while!
I think I should have been a tugboat tractor captain, too late now... It would be interesting to have text on screen explaining some of the radio calls.
this is so freaking awesome to see that big massive monster who called a tug boat... working to bring the big monsters with containers on it, back to the sea, thank you for uploading this, hopefully there is more coming, by the way greetings from the Netherlands, I do have a question, i see and hear you comunicating with someone, like all stop, easy, 70 blabla, is that your commander or is that the pilot whoes is anboard of the ship, or is there from the tugs, one commander whoes is comunicating with you? I would love to know that. Thanks!! And keep up the good work!
Never thought I'd find this interesting but it is! Look like your right hand is controlling the speed and the directional movement is that right? What a cool setup. How much is the rope rated for? Pulling 130k tons is crazy!
Another good video. Maybe in the future you could translate the radio chatter for us. What is said, what it means and what you do to respond. Hard to tell for sure so maybe you could explain what you are doing with the ship. This one looked like you were spinning it 180 off the dock. Is the job paid by the hour or by the job? What would typically be the cost for the work seen in this video. Thanks, my friend.
Is it a Voith Drive or Azipod based thrust system? Pretty intense hearing those Marine diesels thrumming in the background. That power is intense....120 Ton pull.
That’s a pretty wild gaming setup.
Its a boat

Thanks for watching 🤙
Same!
LMAO Same! It took me a min to realize that this was real 🤣 I was like this is a crazy setup for a boat sim lol
Same here. I was like that's a damn good looking simulator setup.
Same here haha.. It took me a while to realise it wasn't too! (FYI - Your cockpit looks remarkably similar to the RSI CONSTELLATION in Star Citizen)
This is what i imagine the cockpits of a spaceship will look like in a couple hundred years. Looks awesome.
Thanks for watching 🖖
Did Sci Fi take inspiration from tugs like this, or did the tug designers take inspiration from Sci Fi?
Kinda looks like a constellation or aurora from star citizen.
major respect for the pilot for the respect he shows everyone else, it's clearly his show yet calls everyone on the boat and around him "sir"
Hell yeah! He’s a great dude! Thanks for watching 🤙

The thrum of the engines makes this all super relaxing to watch, I'm watching from my office rn as work is pretty dead today 😅

that's why we gotta love the internet
This is so cool! I've actually never seen how a tugboat captain does it!
Many thumbs up from Sweden!

I enjoy these longer form active tugboat videos. They’re relaxing to watch thank you
You’re welcome and I’m glad you like them!
Oi capitão Willy, um abraço do Brasil para vc, gostei muito do seu video, até a proxima!

So happy TH-cam is recommending maritime content now, your video just popped up now randomly, hopefully lots more people get recommended too :)

What an amazing life! I'm envious. Thanks for posting!🤙

I'm curious. Who's picture is that on the frame above your front window? Dad? Grandad?
That’s Capt Brian McAllister. He was owner of the company till he passed away. Also this boat is named after him. He was a great Capt!
I only recently started watching Simulator videos, and it looks like TH-cam's algorithm itself, believes even you're in a simulator.
I dig it!! Real life tho! Thanks for watching 🤙
Damn... I love my job but sometimes I wish I did something like that for a living.
Thx for great quality video! Stay safe!

Please more of these videos would be great. And more videos of ship life and maintenance yous carry out 👍🏻👍🏻
Will do!
Thank you for taking us along Capt. It's all about the Z-drive. 🤙👍 CUOTO

If Gaming PC's were built to withstand months of not shutting down, we would've probably had a ship simulator by now.
I mean, there do exist Microsoft ship simulators
"built to withstand"? you already can? that's the same things servers do
Yes we have a ship simulator
th-cam.com/video/y_AjgSArsWQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IEaDolrIOJEV0_zL
It has more to do with the fact that realistic water physics are very hard and expensive to do, and ship simulators have a small audience.
I appreciate Yall watching 🤙 I have done one simulator before. It was not great but that was some years ago
As much as I love gas turbines for big HP, can't beat the sound of big cube diesels pounding away.
