Formula E is also super fun, Rally Cross also goes backwards this season from all electric to electric vs ice.
I must agree to disagree. Formula E is super boring, with a tinnitus inducing sound.
A NASCAR EV? Oh boy this will rustle some feathers! 😂
the speed wins once they sit in one, stuck to the seat
@@dertythegrower They are already putting restrictor plates in the ICE engines because they were going too fast.
@@ReluctantLudditetop speed limit not acceleration.
For real. Nascar is about the sound of the engine. When it comes to NASCAR using evs , it's going to be interesting to see how they do charging during the race.
STCC is electric. Acronym meaning Swedish Touring Car Championship. Teslas, BMWs and VWs.
Well, from the start it was Standard Touring Car Championship, it later became Scandinavian Touring Car Championship according to STCC themselves.
There was the etc for a couple seasons now to. And Ken block raced an ev in wrc and won before he died last year.

reminds me of the 1/32nd scale and 1/24th scale Revell slot cars of the 1960's. They all used the same electric motors and an adjustable chassis, but the plastic bodies were different so you could race a Ferrari, Lotus, Jaguar, etc. using the same adjustable chassis and changing the wheel sizes as needed.
“The Impact” as Leno said, “Flaming Ball of Death was already taken.”
Great video but please don’t respond or heart the bot comments and delete them if that’s possible please. They’re only hear to get people to click on some links in their profiles. Sorry if I’m asking too much by the way.
How do I know you're not a bot.
@@MunroLive great question. the bots profile pics and if they joined a few hours ago before commenting proves that they’re a bot. And the link in the profiles too. Thanks for deleting one of the bot comments btw.
I can already tell that they had the Mach E and Blazer EV in mind when designing the look of the prototype.
Closed loop racing seems perfect for inductive charging while racing. This could mean a smaller battery to buffer the charging.
Cheers Sandy Munro and the team
A Nascar EV race could be either battery swap or 2 cars where one is charging the other racing.
Very happy to see Sandy interview David Ragan! Hearing the views of a Nascar Cup driver with wins at Daytona and Talladega was informative and got me excited and optimistic for the future (inevitable) transition of Nascar to EV racing.
Cool stuff.
*Cheers*
Cheers
This will work after solid state is done for light weight, fast charging, safety and range.
I can see the depression/hostility on that young drivers face.
If I could wildly speculate I would guess he has a lot of pressure at home or within his circle of friends to have a negative feeling towards EVs
In regards to hearing the wind around the car, you could use that audio when at Daytona or Talladega for on board shots in the race. Anybody with surround sound or even stereo could hear the draft-able air around the car.
Wireless charging tracks....
thanks Sandy
Welcome
I would like to see this at the La Mans 24-hour race - if charging is not under 10 minutes per pit stop I would like to see a battery swap to keep the car going
Whole car swap like Formula E would probably be easier.
@@concinnus Yes, because future cars should be disposable after only one use. Like a cleanex!
@@concinnus that would be agaist the rules - also each car would only do 50% of the distance which would not go down very well
@concinnus they haven't done that in years dude
They have battery swap stations in China that can swap a battery in 1 minute, you park on a rack and a tool changes it from below, then you drive off. they could easily do it the same or better.
Replacable batteries is way to go maybe.
Two brilliant outtakes: bring a Tesla Nascar team and mix ice with ev cars in competition! This will also accelerate the transition and ADOPTION of ev cars a lot. Very nice video, glad to see also Miss Goelectric, all you guys, having a lot of fun, thank you 🙏
With all due respect Mr Munro, but the most interesting part of this video starts at 25:23 and it last til 36:54 (😇) and I realy love Your videos. Thank You Mr Munro.
To the producer this podcast, please tell Sandy the next time he meets me an event. He better be wearing his Monroe kilt he already promised it the Highlander.😊
Their goal is 2035? Wow, not exactly aiming for the moon are they. Why prolong the inevitable? This has the potential to completely reinvigorate NASCAR!
You can add any sound you wish...
Sandy's conchal bowl is seriously impressive.
GREAT seeing Nascar going for the best tech for performance. The #NxtGenCup in Europe already prepair the young driver today and they expect electric performance when they advance their driving careers.
Did I miss any discussions on:
Formula e
Extreme e
The beginning of the end of NASCAR
I’m really surprised that EV racing doesn’t have hot-swappable battery packs at the pit.
Thank you so much. Love NASCAR. Appreciate you.
As a former nuclear submariner, I can say education is key. It is paramount the Highlander.😊
Interesting. Too bad Sandy does not take Tom around to those BS battery companies he visits. You know, someone who understands electricity and all.
I Love this channel ❤ I love to see the excitement of Sandy and Tom with new electrification technology. This is a big changing era, and America is leading the automobile EV, also in racing, like this NASCAR ABB prototype. I was waiting 40 years to see something exciting about car racing, las time was the 80's with the Renaul turbo engine for Formula1 (but BMW was the first winner in 1983 of the turbo era), also the Audi Quattro (4 wheel drive and turbo) for the Rally Championship. We are very sad to not seeing Japanese and Italian automakers in this new electrification era.
Sadly We arent leading in EVs,,China is,,😊 see Wheelsboy chanel or Inside China auto ,,big cities in China allow only EVs as daily drivers to stop air polution
You are the man 🍻🍻
Great to see !!!!!!!!!! they forgot to mention "Formula E"
that was so pre-tee… mine/ours… 🎉
The sounds that EV's make is so much more interesting than a V8. You'll be able to hear the wind and the tires, too. They aren't silent. Way more enjoyable! Lots of new fans. Do it! I like the stock car idea, too.
I know it might sound silly at first but maybe for spectactors we could have sound effects to simulate how different time periods Nascar sounded ?
you can actually play music with the motor windings
@@yusufcanaktas6929 Renault played music with their F1 engine when Alonso won the WDC :) Nascar needs V10, that would make people go and watch it. Making it all electric would only bring people from California, and the main audience would leave to another sport .
@@b9eda9ad 👎
@@AndrewTSq You think people watch cars race because they make obnoxious noise? I disagree.
❤❤❤ the Highlander😊
Much of racing is about the performance, but NASCAR and a few others are all about the entertainment of the audience en masse. Will evs fill stadiums and bring in TV viewers and ad revenue?
they won't get lung cancer from race gas exhaust fumes that people supposedly think "smells good"
We all know the answer to that question is a resounding NO!
Hybrid is done for in Europe. We had it for 10's of years selling less and less. But then European adaptation to EV's is 2 times or more higher then USA. It's a dead end. Sandy, ask Elon about hybrids?
TESLA Racing Team? 🤔
With a possible full circuit battery we could be looking at F1 style pitstops... super fast! "BOX, BOX, BOX!!"
Like Scalextric
40:08 Sandy Tesla would keep winning lol
This was an exciting video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have to wonder if NASCAR is going to stop being the old boys club and let Tesla into the series if they want to do it?
So sick!!
I thought like that's Sandy to the right.. oh wait what have he done to the..?
Have a drink every time he says "Next-Gen"...
I
@mikenielsen3971 next gen is a NASCAR term dude
Well if you take a drink after Sandy says "At the end of the day" well at the end of the day you would be dead.
All Electric is sure cheaper than the fuel costs
EVs are more expensive to purchase, go through tires quicker, more expensive to insure. The raw materials are harder to mine and cause more damage to the earth.
Combustion cars will keep losing 🤣
swap batteries just liike tires
КТО ПО ГОРОСКОПУ МАНРО ?
WHO IS MUNRO'S HOROSCOPE ?
Wonder what kind of #FireSuppressionSystem that thing has??
Better be #Stout!!
That NASCAR EV is awesome 👍
If adopted it will destroy NASCAR!!!
Shame young guy can't match Sandy's energy
First!
No you weren't
Racetracks are dying from urban sprawl and noise. EVs may save racing.
it's a damn slot car
Except, there are no slots.
How many pennies can fit in 1 gallon?
Yes.
NO ENGINE BUILDERS NEEDED SOON
If you have a job, Elon is coming for it with robots. You will own nothing and you'll be happy, say his masters.
Give this idea to Chinese brands such as BYD and watch them come out with an absolute game changer
I cannot wait for fans to lose their minds when everything switches to electric
It won't.
The fans will be sitting at home on the couch watching the EV races on their iPhones.
It will not replace the cup car or the top 3 series ever they said they will not do that so it’s good
Get back to STOCK CARS not special built cars...
All manufacturers are welcome...
This would just be a spec racing series.
Yoi cant just throw tradition out the window. You gotta leave it rear wheel drive. You cant just piss everyone off and expect them to stay fans. NASCAR has already lost a bunch of loyal fans over there woke BS. .
Luddite comment
We’re decades (plural) from NASCAR being able to survive an all-electric field. Fans will lose interest.
To much talk. Be like Elon do it, race it. Sadly another serie, Extreme E, goas backwards to hybrid hydrogen. Insanity. But for Nascar, build and race.
CAN I BUY THAT F150 AT COSTCO?
Why must everything be disruptive what is the hurry to ev racing cars or ev passenger vehicles. It’s not cost effective for the consumer and sales show that. Hybrid should be the transition vehicle as battery chemistry, charging and infrastructures are developed.
because not everyone is a car person, people do stupid things to gas and diesel cars
ICE for racing is cringey. Im never impressed with launch or acceleration of ICE and the noise is not justified for its performance. Easy to solve noiseless issue, just use speakers to amplify the noise EV drivetrain makes.
Racing isn't just about acceleration.
@@DimitarStanev well if it did drag racing would be on top of the industry. F1 looks slow in corners or Monaco track which likely reason most F1 tracks have long straights.
78-kWh liquid-cooled battery
The car will go 1 lap, maybe 2, then there is a hour+ delay for recharging…oh, the fans are gonna love this! The Daytona 500! May 28, and 29, and 30, and 31st and June 1st, with the exciting finish on Thursday June the 2nd! Yay!
Nio uses replacable batts,,why cant race cars do that.
No lol, the Porsche cayman gt4 e demonstrator uses about a 65kwh pack and can do 30-45min heats as 600+hp race pace equivelant to the current Porsche 911 gt3rs race cars. Inc lapping Monaco as fast as the current champion in gt3rs did in the ice car weighing 600# LESS. 👍🏻
Just like normal with rain delays
Can't wait for the first #Fireball in the first crash
#InEVitable
You will be disappointed. Batteries will burn, but you really need fuel for a fireball.
Great way to ruin NASCAR. EV's suck.
Luddite comment
@@rctezluh42069 Not hardly. I have nothing against new technology. EV's are not new. You want one? Go buy one. They go back to the 1800's...I have yet to see the hordes of consumers demanding EV's. Mercedes is cancelling it's new EV platforms, Ford axed a 2 million car run and Apple cancelled it's plans to build an EV. This technology has been driven by fat government taxpayer subsidies, bureaucrats, and climate scare cultists. The NASCAR "carbon footprint" is hardly measurable and replacing gasoline powered engines with a electric motor would be a break from tradition. It would be like forbidding people from eating turkey at Thanksgiving. You want electric cars racing? They need their own league--and watch it eventually go bust.
Toyota is making vroom vroom with water coming out the tail pipe, but doogooders need moar batteries. Imagine Nikola Tesla saw us hauling batteries around STILL when he had wireless long distance power transmission. Who's even TRYING to figure that out now? Batteries the junk that keeps on giving, I guess.
What do you think Toyota developed?😅
This claim about Nikola having wireless power transmission, and yet it's not a thing a century later, is obvious science fiction.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha...EV racecars.
nice! congratulations!🏁👍👍 a totally stellar video! so much great info! good luck ABB & NASCAR!! amazing! thanks for the vid Sandy! wow!
