There are a small group nest of wild budgies in the region where I call home. They're always eating the wild apples, cameron oranges (very bitter oranges better suited for alcoholic drinks than just for eating IMO), and plucking out the soft parts of various flowering plants and such, seeming to prefer lavender over others. They also love to get at the Berry Orchard Farm's fruits every now and then, which used to harm Madeline's business until she decided to dedicate about an acres' worth of her land to the wild budgies. I'd say there's about a couple thousand wild budgies for an equivalent of thirty-five square miles of land.
that budgie looks exactly like mine😞when I got home from school today, I saw my bird dead and I was devastated. I kept crying and I tried to call everyone in my family, but no one responded. Have you tried eating the orange in front of them and giving them a small piece? My birds were scared of fruit too until I started to eat fruits and veggies in front of them and give them a bit of what I was eating.

I started giving my birdies (who are VERY untrained) some chopped carrots and they loved it. I also started giving them strawberries in the mornings, and they seem very happy :D
my budgie misty is a very curious bird. she loves to look and explore anything ANYTHING new in her cage. whenever i offer her a new toy or treat, or someother stuff she IMMEDIATLY checks it out! so she loves banana, mango, grapes and apples and because misty checks everything our and if it is safe or not my other budgie cheeko also eats fruits

In the food bowl/trough, you lay down sliced banana, apple slices, orange slices, and maybe diced strawberry if there's enough room, and a small amount of bird seed spread around the food. It can be a fruit salad for your budgie! Would this be good for your bird if you made it and gave it to them, Alen?
My budgie loves a piece of apple each day, will have to try to see if she likes other fruit. We did buy a commercial fruit mix for birds but she just picked them out of her seed bowl and dumped into her water bowl.

i have an adult parakeet who refuses any fruit, but 1 baby parakeet i have loves only mango and banana and tamarind. the adult parakeet i bought it from a pet store to keep the baby parakeet that i have been hand feeding to now a little company, some times they fight, but most of the time they cuddle together.

I know this comment is old, but when budgies drink water, it leaves them vulnerable. If you leave the room it'll start drinking, until it's comfortable with you.
I have the same problem. I've tried apple, strawberry, banana, broccoli and carrots. My budgie is a baby only 4 months or so. I thought being young she'd be open to new stuff but she won't try anything. I cut it small so it won't scare her. I even put a little millet on top (she loves millet) thinking that would get her attention but nothing works.
Try disguising the new food by coating it with seeds. Our budgie would only eat seeds. I took treat clips and put one near her favorite spot and one near her seed tray. I removed the seed tray and put spinach leaves and an apple slice dipped in water and coated them with seed and put them on the treat clip. Left them there for an hour. Then removed the produce and put back her seed tray. I did this a couple of times each day for a couple of days. By day 3 she was eating them with no seeds.
Oh wow my bird was letting me know he wanted some apple when I was eating my apple I gave him a little pice he sure was eating it now I know to feed him fruits 🍏

If anyone has trouble give them a millet with your hand and let them enjoy, then swap the millet with the fruit they may not want to try it but with enough encouragement it can. Try eating the fruit or veggie infront if them and see if they want some too
My budgie doesn't like to be caught. He just lost his mate who was very sick and the vet didn't know what was wrong either him. He was given antibiotics for 14 days as he had bacteria in his crop. What do they get that from?
