"Eating to get rid of it" is so on point! It's a mindset I really struggle to do away with

Sarah, its like you can hear what internal fights happen in my head over food...it makes me feel better knowing others have these struggles too.x

I just went to a buffet I ate one plate of food and I felt completely great I think about eating and feeling good afterwards. I haven’t binged in 2 years. I thank God and all the people on TH-cam and in my personal life who helped.

Thank you for sharing your process. It's fascinating to me how the thinking I'm having (and not realizing other than I'm not happy with how I've been eating) comes out of your mouth and makes it crystal clear what's been going on with me. Wonderful! Thank you so much.

Sarah, thank you for what you do! All of the things you talk about are EXACTLY what goes through my head... It's so hard to explain to people unaffected by this because it hardly even makes sense to me. But I love hearing someone else explain say these things out loud too. And the explanations and ideas for stopping these thoughts have helped me so much in the last year 🥰

This is so real and so helpful!! It happens to me very often... I think of the power of neuroplasticity and creating new beliefs and action that are more aligned to myself.
    Thank you Sarah.

Thanks for sharing your process, you always have interesting reflections. I recently went on a week-long cruise, where food was available all the time and in particular the suppers were really good quality and fun company. I think I actually ate less than I usually would because there was no scarcity to trigger me. No meal times to wait for, no limit, no problems with gluten-free options, no cost, no judgment for not eating everything or getting seconds, complete control over portions (buffet), massive range of choices, no preparation time or effort. By the evening I was ready to enjoy the fine dining and the portions were very small but super-tasty (you could always ask for more though). I have never known such food peace; it was actually a holiday from food anxiety.
For me it confirmed everything you say about restriction creating compulsion and what I understood about my own history of food fear.

7:41 that makes a lot of sense and I wanted to ask a similar question you asked yourself. If you had a similar event in 1 month (so with your updated awareness) what other decisions or intentions would you make?
Also, what were your emotions prior to the event, before you went there and was faced with unlimited food and before you felt uncomfortable in your body?
Thank you, appreciate your honesty and vulnerability as usual.

Before I went away I was really excited about the holiday and wedding and I wasn't anxious about food or my body. I think that's what threw me because that feeling changed soon after I arrived, so there was some disappointment in the mix and it wasn't living up to my expectations.
With updated awareness and on a future occasion, I would set an intention to be much more aware of how I was feeling and to meet those feelings without judgement. My self-awareness really slipped on this holiday largely because I was sharing a hotel room with a friend so my usual routines of yoga, journaling and meditation went right out of the window. Next time I would commit to taking myself away for at least half an hour each day to check in with myself.

Thank you for sharing your valuable experiece. I can definitely relate to that part of eating sth for the sake of just eating it and getting rid of that problem of having it and not be triggered any longer. (On the other side, not buying it at all because it is triggering). Well, I guess it all comes down to a healthy and peaceful relationship with food, joy, balance and moderation. Your advice on - Do you want to reinforce that believe system?- is a very helpful one. 😊 Thanks a lot.

I am struggling with my weight and really trying to train my mind not to eat just for the sake of eating. I try to eat healthy now and find it helpful. Great vid. Cheers

I remember one Thanksgiving I ate so much I felt physically sick. It was so uncomfortable . It felt so bad that I never over ate to such an extent.

Resonate with the notion of bingeing just to get rid of the binge foods., so am thinking a key tactic for me maybe to resist buying lots of binge foods in the first place so that the option to binge on them is not as prominent. I seem to lack the ability to walk past a tesco express or co op and not go in and stock up on stuff. Its getting expensive 😢

Btw I once took an apple and 2 bananas from the business lounge to my bag, forgot about it and got fined $300 in Minnesota and got marked as some sort og a fruit smuggler in the US because I get searched everytime - I promise I’m not joking 🥹
