  • Post Office Horizon IT inquiry continues with evidence from Tim Parker, former chair of Post Office Ltd.
Mr Parker explains why there was no satisfactory way to say sorry to subpostmasters, as 'people have kind of got a bit tired of that, and it all rings a bit hollow.'

He shouldn't say sorry, because he isn't sorry. I think he sees this as just a blip along his path to a very comfortable retirement afyter overseeing possibly the biggest legal scandal in UK history, and being richly rewarded for his monumental laziness and incompetence.

He is one of the weirdest, creapiest and most arrogant people I have seen so far on this shameful parade of people saying they could not remember, it was not my job, a big boy did it and ran away. Nothing will actually happen to any of the leaders and they will never go to court let alone be prosecuted. The system will protect them.

He is a very unsavory individual, I too, did not renew my National Trust Membership, he has no backbone, no value system, he is a wordsmith, a good one, but what are words with no meaning, which is the reason for his lack of an apology, (he alludes to this in this clip)?

Why not just say that you are sorry for the harm done to sub postmasters, rather than give a long winded answer like he did here … I imagine that if you asked this guy if he wanted a cup of tea, the answer would be something along the lines of “So, the subject of a cup of tea is quite interesting, because today I was toying with the idea of having a cup of tea, standing up and saying ‘yes, I would like a cup of tea’ as many people have done. And there ensued a discussion with people, you know, should I do this, I mean, actually have a cup of tea ..” and so on and so on

I don’t think he believes, or that he has convinced himself that he like many other witnesses seem to have from the Post Office, law firm and Fujitsu actually have any personal responsibility for this scandal. So he arrogantly doesn’t actually think he has to apologise or feel guilty, hopefully he will be prosecuted and is given a long custodial sentence.

What actual value he brings to any organisation or situation is very hard to see other than protect corporate interests and turn a blind eye to malpractice, and gaslight your way out of having to explain anything to anyone. He comes across as being quite proud of being quite good at it. Unfortunately for him we, the plebs, the peasants, the great unwashed, can see him for what he is.

The legal privilege applies to the relationship between counsel & the client (the Post Office), meaning that the Swift Report could legitimately be shared with the PO Board & PO executive management who could be considered part of "the controlling mind" of the company. Counsel were negligent in not explaining the meaning, consequences & impact of client/ solicitor privilege and Parker was negligent in not asking any questions if he did not understand what counsel were saying. Bear in mind, privilege can be waived...it's not generally in a client's interests to do so, but they have the right to waive it if they wish.

Next time you think about dropping the National Trust a few bob just have a look at the filed accounts and see what's being creamed off at the top. And this goes for all registered charities, a large part of income goes in fat salaries and fat pension costs for sociopaths like this chap. Compare this to Junior dcotors' pay on £15 an hour working nights on A & E in the wild west, aka England.
