Thanks a bunch! I'll look over everything you've analyzed and I'll give it a go. My sos came on a week after I got my 2017 a4 and would sporadically flash. Drove me nuts especially seeing that the green light above indicated a working module.. the b9 didn't have the sos fuse as the 9.5 so i triggered the system by disconnecting the sos speaker so now the warning only comes up once when starting the car. I've come the conclusion that the insulation on my roof panel dropped down and when I opened the sun roof it drags the insulation and pushes it against the signal wires connected to the shark fin. Just don't want to damage my headliner when removing it but the illuminated triangle is driving me nuts so I'll have to eventually get around to it. The OBDeleven tips you've suggested are excellent.

PS: I cannot find Telematics module on B9... all SOS related errors are on Gateway (my error is: B105313 - GSM antenna Open circuit - Intermittent) My car: A4 B9 Sedan (US version)

Glad to be of service Rob. Some faults seem to require expensive new hardware but a lot of that seems to be under warranty as it occurs early. Really need to scan and then if it’s aerial related, should be cable or aerial. My mk8 was bad from new, never looked into it as under warranty and couldn’t be bothered with hassle but on one trip to central London, it bonged around 10 times within m25!
Hello , I am considering buying S4/S5, however I have read many tech issues plague the car from this SOS issue and the issues with the digital display crashing / going blank / or stuck on initialising? Be interesting to know if anyone is having these issues? if so is it a simple fix or a costly trip to Audi? I had these issues with AUDI A3 8Y and was a nightmare!
I keep getting this error for the last few weeks. I have to check which connection it is complaining about. But not sure I am interested to start th cable change- looks like a huge job

Hey, my Bluetooth says is unavailablein my 2020 s5. I’ve read that fault in the telematic module disables it. Do you reckon that if I unplug the fuse it will allow the bluetooth to work?
I didn't have any Bluetooth issues so I can't help unfortunately. Worth a try removing fuse if you've seen that work elsewhere but I can't see how this can make something work.
Doesn’t usually when you have fault with the SOS this automatically disables other communications such as the Bluetooth. This is why I thought it might help if I only pull the sos connection.
Hi Andrew. Good video with clear problem explanation and cure to fix. My GTI Mk8 had this warning come up a week past the 3 year old date! Good job I took out the extra 2 year warranty which covered the fix at the main dealer. Precise reason I took it out; mechanicals will be fine, it's the electrics that plague this variant so money (sadly) well spent.
@@volkswizard Hi Andrew. The Dealer had the car for a whole day to replace the connection between SOS tab in the upper console and the aerial unit on the roof. Wouldn't divulge more than that to me.
Good work Andrew - labour cost from a dealer would be significant and good to see a solution that fixes the actual issue - interested to see how long fix lasts and if water ingress an ongoing issue 👏🎯
I have a b9.5 a5, and the sos pops up whenever I receive / make phone calls, and I think my microphone doesn’t working. Does your microphone have issues as well? Thanks
I can tell you Audi quoted me 4 hours labour for this at £195 + VAT. And £200 for parts! A grand total of £1136!!! Needless to say I politely declined. I will do it myself
@ on top of that America gets a 5 year warranty. We only get 3! Why do we not get the same? On top of the aerial issues I also have a Pcv leak and faulty relay on the stop start. All have occurred 5 months after the warranty expired.

Thanks a lot. My MY2021 Skoda Karoq, just started today showing SOS. Now I know what to look for on my OBD11 and what to tell the workshop after that.

2019 A4 here. Only had the car a couple of months. It just started doing the exact thing you are describing.

Just disable it but you must tell next owner and possibly your insurer
This happens all the time on my b9….I was under the impression it just needed a software update
Do a scan to see what fault code is stored, if it’s a match then check the aerial live data as shown in video 👍

BMW have this where the battery runs out and its a real big pain to replace the battery... 99% of people code it out.
Luckily in Die Hard 4.0 that BMW still had it working 😃

They can only get away with shafting their customers to fix faults that should not occur with any brand let alone a prestige German one, for so long
