In this video, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of Mewtwo. Mewtwo drives from another Pokemon, Mew, but also inspired the creation of the non-canonical Pokemon MechaMew2, which appeared in the Pokemon Live! Mewtwo has also appeared in games outside of Pokemon, such as the Super Smash Bros franchise. Through our analysis of Mewtwo, we hope to show some of the more interesting facts from the making of the game and have its history explained.

Ill9o There's two parts: "What's worth is what you do with life" which is basically what you said. The part missing would be "You aren't defined by your environment when born or forced to follow what you were told to do."

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT I'll interpret the simplicity of this quote differently (to make those who hate me feel better, to please mewtwo fanboys/girls, and to make a bit more sense.)
What I REALLY meant was, mewtwos quote is REALLY simple, because if you think about it. All it really means is "Life is generalized by action, not generalization." (And NO just because there's TWO parts to the simplicity of it doesn't make it any more complex.
My original thing I said was "do something with your life", but I made a mistake. Either way I still think the quote is overhyped and too simplistic to be something really too influential.
Ill9o That's fair. I mean, I'm not really sure anyone actually thought The Pokémon Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back was an influential philosophical essay or anything. It just makes enough sense and sounds cool.

It is basically confirmed that DR Fuji is the one that made mewtwo by impregnating mew in Heartgold and Soulsilver and the anime that was based off the games.

aw man no mention of Mewtwo's rather depressing origin story in the anime? or the fact that in the Japanese version of the movie Mewtwo is angry at the fact that he is not created by God there fore he is not supposed to exist? or how about the short movie based Manga where Mewtwo developed a father-son relationship with the scientist Fuji who begged Mewtwo to kill him and the lab so that Giovanne's plan of making a Mewtwo army cannot succeed. The killing of his own father and brothers sending him unto despair? the fact that this is the only anime Pokemon character to receive his own tv movie? This character has so much history man! edit: or the fact that Mewtwo was inspired by Earthbound's end boss?
his moviemanga origin story is hardly mentioned in most videos at all, and I dont see many people talk about the difference between the 4Kids movie Mewtwo and the Japanese version (who made a lot more sense )

Not EarthBound, Mother. Although it's technically the same character at the end of EarthBound, Giegue as he is known in Mother has a significantly different and more Mewtwo-like design than his later form of Giygas in EarthBound.

I would like to think I'm one of the most obsessed Mewtwo fans in the world. I knew about the multiple origins, the data hidden in Brawl, him being one of the most requested additions to Smash (goddamn right!), and even the MechaMew2 (still hoping that thing's somewhere in storage, I'd like to own it someday.)
But even I didn't know he was hidden in the Game Boy Camera before his official release. I learned something I didn't know about Mewtwo - well done, DYK.

Mewtwo and Lucario: The Thunder Thigh Twins
It would've been so dope if MewTwo's Final Smash would give you a 50/50 split between both X and Y. That way, if someone wanted to main MewTwo, they'd have to learn how to play both versions of it's Final Smash. That, or let you decide which form you'd want when you select him (like when you select a color)
The thing I find weird about Mew, Mewtwo even in the first games was supposed to be a clone, wasn't it? But Mew was added in secret by a programmer without the rest knowing?
Did he design Mew himself or just slip it in or did the Mansion diaries actually just vaguely call Mewtwo a creation rather than a clone?
I had this hypothesis that Mewtwo and Mew's dynamic could be partially modeled on the relation of Tetsuo and Akira, from the manga Akira. Mew/Akira are child-like but incredibly powerful psychic entities that draw the attention of groups that want to replicate its power. Their results, Tetsuo/Mewtwo, are more mature-looking and aggressive beings that seek their predecessor to fight.

Anyone else agree that Mew should be readded in future titles as a possible legendary to capture?
The fact it might genuinely become hard to obtain aside from events might be discouraging.
Sir Nile Readded? Not counting glitches, Mew has NEVER been able to be caught normally. As an event in-game, it's only appeared ONCE.
Yeah, I only count Red and Blue as the real legitimate (Y'know, without needing to either hack or being at the exclusive events) as the only time where Mew could be obtained without outside sources.
Honestly impressed though that Nintendo will STILL model some of these literally rare pokemon just for the few legitimate players that were able to transfer the little guys over with Pokebank.

I got chills when he mentioned that "Mew" was the first pokemon trademarked, it being the ancestor of all pokemon.
Once while playing a game of Brawl, Mew appeared just before Kirby used his final smash. Needless to say, that became the rarest stew ever cooked.
That Blaine + Mewtwo half human Canon is the coolest one for sure.

According to the first movie Mewtwo was born in *New Island* , somewhere in South America.
New Island means _Isla Nueva_ in spanish.
Isla Nueva is an actuall island in Chile.
That means that Mewtwo is basically Chilean alongside with Nosepass, Probopass and Mincinno

Did you know? The concept of Sivally being true appearance of Type:Null after breaking free from its helmet may be a reference to Mewtwo's Counterattack, specifically when Mewtwo breaks out of his power-suppression armor, serving the same purpose for the wearers of each?

I'm surprised that you didn't mention the fact that, on the initial VHS release of Pokemon: The First Movie, they cut out the entire young Mewtwo scene with the scientist's daughter. I didn't even know the scene existed until a couple years ago.

Also, no mention of Giegue in MOTHER/EarthBound Beginnings being either _the_ or _an_ inspiration for Mewtwo's design? People from the MOTHER series's design team worked on Pokemon as well, and there are design elements that are similar in both games because of it.
Were both inspired by Frieza? Possible since Dragon Ball was popular around the same time, as well

The best pokemon of all time, my friends and I had gb fights all the time to see which mewtwo was stronger, we rised our pokemon to level 100, and I usually used ice beam to freeze my friends mewtwos hahaha, it was awesome!

I never understood the story about Mew being snuck onto the game last minute. Mewtwo's existence and the Pokemon mansion make it clear that they knew about Mew when creating the story.
My guess is that Mew was originally meant for Gen 2, since Lugia is missing from early prototypes.

Zilch. Nintendo dropped all support for the Wii U quite a while ago, and doesn't want anyone else adding anything to it.

I think you completely misinterpreted the question. He's asking about the percentage chance of Mew appearing from a Pokeball item in Smash 4, not what the chances are of Mew being added as a character or something.
The odds of Mew appearing in Smash 4 are 1/718, instead of 721 and taking out the Mythical Pokemon for whatever reason.

Mewtwo has a miserable life not only does he not have meat to beat, but even if he did he had trouble since it only has 3 fingers
Did you know: Mewtwo has been missing from the animated series for over 1,000+ episodes since they were last seen in EP065 of season 1 to when their appeared again in JN046 of season 23.
I don't know about everyone else, but that's just ridiculous. It's asinine. Why would The Pokémon Company not utilize this iconic character more in the anime? I know people want to see more of them. So, why the needlessly huge absence?
Well, a few blurbs from bulbapedia's Mewtwo(M01) & (M016) trivia revealed something that was under the radar for me:
"Originally, Mewtwo was planned to return in Genesect and the Legend Awakened, but the idea was scrapped due to the character being considered the property of Takeshi Shudo's estate. As a result, a different Mewtwo was created to star in the movie in its place."
"In July 2019, Hidenaga Katakami, one of the producers of Mewtwo Strikes Back-Evolution and Detective Pikachu, revealed that this Mewtwo was made a different individual from the original Mewtwo due to legal issues with Takeshi Shudō's estate regarding the licensing of the character."
They also sourced this one, but I'm too lazy to copy paste it.
Wait, Newtwo was created to avoid "legal issues" and substitute the original one-of-a-kind Mewtwo in what should have been their second movie. Talk about rude.
Anyway, legal trouble is the only reason I could find, and it would make the most sense for why Mewtwo hasn't made any appearances since the first season till now.
From here we can all speculate with a bit more accuracy. Like why Mewtwo in the Journeys episode lacked any hints of their past continuity? I'd bet money on it being "legal issues." I'd even say the whole Lugia incident was a good reason for Takeshi not wanting The Pokémon Company to be able to use his work. He doesn't want them to ruin it like they did with his original Lugia.
No wonder we've been waiting and only drops have come out. This whole situation sucks.

It makes sense that Mew would be impregnated with Mewtwo as that's how cloning works in real life. And it would also explain how that mew died and was buried in Heartgold and soulsilver as she would not survive the birthing process.

While Pokemon Adventures are pretty much non-canon entirely, Mewtwo have appeared in many Pokemon spin-off mangas with different descriptions. Although these titles were never released outside of Japan, here are some of them that I've read so far...
PiPiPi Adventure: A shojo-manga type Pokemon manga released in Ciao magazine, taking place in a peaceful village where humans and (talking) Pokemon live. Mewtwo, however, appears as a spiritual entity who controls the cursed forest where all the spirits of the Pokemon wander, having a strong hatred towards humans that tortured and killed the creatures and plans to trap the protagonist in the forest.
Pokemon Getto Da Ze!: Another Pokemon spin-off manga released in the Shogakukan magazine, which ended up to Gen 2. Mewtwo mysteriously becomes a Pokemon owned by the protagonist's father, who's a stubborn scientist chasing after Mew.
There's more other spin-off mangas in Japan, but that's all I know so far.

Here's another fun fact: Most of us know the anime's story about how Team Rocket created Mewtwo as a weapon, but in the games, we're never told that this is tthe case!
All we get are an incomplete set of anonymous journals explaining how Mewtwo was created, then he either escaped or was released after getting out of control. We dont know who created him or why. Game Mewtwo doesn't speak , so he never tells us.
It's also possible for more Mewtwos to be created. In fact, it's happened. In the anime, a second mewtwo was created and appears in the genesect movie. Mewtwo also appears in Kalos, but its unclear if it's a new Pokemon.
