- This credit card scammer tried my fake number about six times after a long questioning session. Hahahaha. Scumbags are preying on people who are suffering financially due to the pandemic, telling them their interest rate can be lowered to help them.

@@terrabaker2232 - Nah, tag it as a scammer if you can, then mess with them the next time they call. I kept a list by my parents' landline phone for a long time so if a similar looking number came in, we knew to be ready before answering.
I just got a call two weeks ago on my own cell that I recognized as an area code within my state that I had seen on their voicemail two years ago, then answered and messed with back then because they kept calling back and I saw it and caught it once. Sure enough, the one on my own cell number was this exact scam, though the old one was the "Social Security Administration" scam - they've "upgraded" now.

These scammers are something else - you can always hear that violent desperation in their voice, even when they're speaking 'calmly'. You are a complete natural for exposing these guys sine they clearly feel very comfortable with you (I used to be in LE and would conduct interviews/interrogations with suspects - and you just walk through the front door of the castles of these guys - you would be AMAZING in law enforcement)!!! Keep up the AWESOME work!

Some speak more slowly because they try harder to make you understand them to finish their scam more quickly. Others do it because they're trying very hard to not sound foreign to you.
If they talk too quickly, just talk slowly or even ask them repeatedly to slow down and/or repeat what they said.

Forget retirement - I've been doing this as a "second job" all along. I'll never retire from this "job" they've so graciously provided. I love the variety too - you get called for "IT helpdesk jobs," "government jobs," "financial jobs," and "shopping for gift/money cards" jobs and some random other ones too. The best part is it's 100% "work from home" and they'll even call you at the beach and be OK with it if you're "lucky enough" to get "signed up" on your mobile number.
I haven't taken advantage of the other available side job of posting them online yet. I'm not sure I'm qualified for the on-screen acting part.
Ah, the old "1% trust"! would you let a doctor operate on you if you only trusted him 1%? BTW, the last time I got one of these calls, I offered to call my credit card company on a conference call to see what they thought about it. Got hung up on.

Using their mistakes back at them is fun. I wonder how often they realize what you're doing. I've listened to one or more of the other TH-cam scam-the-scammers do it and the scammer(s) commented back like they understood what they were doing, so maybe some of them do?

Works every time. They hate fake numbers. The guy who called me asked me if I was playing games with him after he tried my card number and called me a naughty name. Some of them love their English and Hindi swear words.
I don't know if they really pay to check/use them however they're using them, but someone once mentioned it costs them to even run a bad card number, but I don't know if that's true or not. I wouldn't think it would, unless maybe they ran more than two bad one every hour or something. I'm sure the processors/issuers don't want them just trying every card number that's valid per the algorithm, or running a single card with every possible ZIP code, but an invalid one periodically shouldn't be an issue.
I don't know how you do it. I've been getting these calls lately, and I play along. But every time I even start to sound skeptical, they hang up.

I had the same type call. After his initial spiel I said, “Please put me on the do not call list, I don’t have a credit card.” The guy screeched at me, “THEN WHY DID YOU PRESS ONE, BITCH?!” I laughed so hard I nearly peed.

How fun! I answered a Facebook ad and had a blast texting them for about 45 minutes. She claimed to be a clothing designer who needed a personal assistant to take care of her clients and take payments for fabric. Then she said she wasn’t a designer. She wanted my bank information to set this up. Mind you, she asked zero about my qualifications. I played dumb and said “You’re giving me access to your business account? But you don’t know me,” She was like, no, we use your account! MY account? Why would you trust a stranger with your money? I’ll open up a joint account! What is your name and the name of your company. ( Yes, she was ready to “hire” me, yet I didn’t even have her name!). I kept her going back and forth for a while, pretending to be confused, then finally said my bank was Welles Fargo. She was like Good! And I was like, “Remember that song? Trivia question, which Broadway musical is that song from?” She said I was being weird! Lol I said, “ It’s Oklahoma! Oh, you should watch it, a classic! “I think at this point she FINALLY got the hint that I was onto her, and said she was done messaging me, since I OBVIOUSLY wasn’t being serious. I wasn’t done, though. When she ended the conversation, I clicked on her profile picture from the FB ad and private messaged her! “Hey, where did you go. I thought we had a connection! I thought I was special! Also, I’m reporting you bs to Facebook.” And I did, then I blocked her! Nice time killer as I heal from an injury, and 45 minutes that she won’t get back! Lololol. Keep up the good work!

Anytime you get a weird email just go to your card, bank or credit card, and call the number on the back of the card in your physical possession. You’re not stupid, they get people all day, every day. I worked for a financial institution and I talked retired teachers and med professionals etc out of sending money daily.

Just say "I am sorry I will call my credit card credit control department for balance increases, and credit charges on my account" Card Services send out the cards, they do not mess with the rates. Also he's calling from Noida. So I would hang up and block the number.

I had somebody call me up and say they were from medicare,wanted my medicare card number. I said, I don't feel right giving you that and they said why not,we are medicare Mam. We aren't asking you for your password,or anything else,I hung up. If they have a foreign accent,I don't like talking to them if I can help it.

That is exactly right, hang up! I work in a healthcare billing office and I can tell you that Medicare will never ever, in a million years, call any patient ever! If Medicare wants to get in touch with you, they will send a letter. Not sure how these scammers sleep at night knowing they are ripping off innocent people!

One of my tricks to waste their time is to ask for their website so I can check them out before I give my number. Some refuse unless I give them my 16-digit card number first. Some are foolish enough to give the name of a site that has warnings about being steered there by unsolicited callers. Even if they tell me to go to a site that doesn't have a disclaimer, I tell inform them I don't see anywhere on the site where they offer a service of lowering my rate on an existing card. My personal record keeping a lower your rate scammer on the phone is 32 minutes, but most are under 10.
Excellent job!! I also like to play on the phone with them. One of my favorite is to say real fast... "Lake City Morturary...do you have a body? Is it on the ground floor or working elivators?" American telemarketers immediately hang up but the foreigners don't get it. Another is to go along and act stupid but in need of the services then ask if your from Microsoft why are you calling about my Apple computer....this is after 20 minutes or so.
Brilliant! My card's were scammed and used in the USA, and that's odd as I live in the UK, and the card's were in my possession. They were used in a Motel, in Cape Canavrel. Sorry about the spelling. It took ages to prove it wasn't me using the card's.

I had a scammer that sounded very American and spoofed my banks 1800 number. Be careful out there. He knew my debit card number but not my pin. He asked for that.

We're always get these offers to lower our credit card interest rate. Neither my husband or I even have a credit card. We stopped having credit cards years ago. The offer keeps saying, "congratulations, because you pay on time, we're offering lower rate, etc." Pay what on time? haha

Major red flag 🚩 a call is a scam is when they don’t have a call back number and/or they tell you that you have to make a decision right then. Normally when I mess with a scammer and tell them I have to discuss it with someone else, they just hang up, though. I have tried scambaiting and I guess the scammers I have dealt with don’t wanna try very hard since they hang up the second I ask for a call back number or the name of their company.
