Someone stole my father's picture and tried the same scam through messenger, I played along for a few minutes and called the scammer out, he blocked me. Thanks to these type of videos I was able to let my father know, and he informed his friends that accepted his new friend request. THANK YOU PLEASANT GREEN!
That’s one of the main reasons why I deleted my Facebook. It got to a point where almost half of the people on my friends list had their accounts hacked, and I was getting those grant messages on a daily basis. Then what started happening was my friends were creating new accounts because they weren’t able to access their original accounts, so one person could have 2-3 different accounts, I didn’t know which one was real or not. I lost touch with a lot of friends from this, because I didn’t know which account was real so I couldn’t message them my number.

I was so upset, my social security number is floating out there in the world in the hands of some jerk. I still feel embarrassed talking about it. I felt really stupid. But in the end, it was the malicious thieves who are at fault. Take this as a cautionary tale y’all, it can happen to you! God bless!

Fortunately, my bank recognized that this was a scam and stopped me from transferring the money. It was the first time I was exposed to scams and why I really like these scambaiting videos 😂

I'm glad all of the scam baiting videos I've been watching led me to this one, because I almost fell for a similar scam a few years ago. In my case it was through an email job offer that looked pretty legit at first. I was lucky enough to start catching on when they mentioned the check. When I started questioning them they started insisting they would be using a trusted vendor. I told them I needed some time to think about it and if I could get in contact with them the next day, and before I could respond they deleted the chat entirely. It's a relief to see others talking about this type of scam,. In my case, they posed as a big studio preying on small artists, and I know I'm not the only one.

Against these scammers I think it might be interesting to say that you don't have any money in your bank account, and that the bank is holding the deposit until it clears.
I “applied “ for an online data entry job once got to the point they sent me a check through my email to mobile deposit. The check wasn’t even from the same company I was dealing with. I contacted the company on the check and let them know what was going on. It’s sad people fall for these scams.

I almost fell for one of these scams of someone asking for a driver. I almost sent them a gift card because they had a family member in the hospital or some story like that, but luckily my wife was smarter than me and stopped me on time. Feel so silly for almost falling for it at a time when I really needed any type of income.

This sounds like what I went through today... ugh can't believe I fell for it. Its was slightly different but very closely the same. I blocked the guy before losing any money. They wanted me to get a bunch of equipment and get a 500 dollar gift card and offered to pay off my credit debt. It was fishy and I ignored the flags... I was running off very little sleep due to having family issues I was dealing with the night before. I hate that people like that prey on the vulnerable like they do.

I almost got scammed like this when I was younger. Very professional job listing, said he needed an assistant to run errands for his business. Good English too. I applied, but somehow got the job without even speaking to him. He then sent me a check that he wanted me to deposit into my bank account, then withdraw cash and send it somewhere. Of course, the check would have bounced and I would have been out of cash. I almost fell for it, because at the time I didn't understand how it could be a scam. Only reason I didn't go through with it is because I thought it was so strange that he didn't meet me before "trusting" me with money.

I remember almost getting scammed by this back in 2016 when I was out and looking for a job. I thought it sounded shady, but that drop of "maybe it's real" pulled me forward. Fortunately, my bank recognized that this was a scam and stopped me from transferring the money. It was the first time I was exposed to scams and why I really like these scambaiting videos 😂
Great stuff as always!

As someone from Kenya, I always laugh when you call them and their nigerian accent gives them away. Their accent is so obvious. If you’re gonna be a scammer pretending to be in US, at least learn their accent 🙄
Doesn't that mean putting in effort? I don't think putting in effort works well with "easy money" 😆
@@MLWJ1993 but they put a lot of effort in their tech. Meaning they are intelligent people
@@hk254lyt8 Hmmh, I don't know. Using a VPN & standard messaging apps/E-mail doesn't really scream "effort" to me. Actually self set up platforms for more elaborate scams is putting in effort to me.
Perhaps we can call spoofing putting in effort, but that's something that has become relatively easy nowadays & therefore more common.
I’ve had Jamaican scammers actually do that but when they realize I am Jamaican and can still hear their accent they curse me out… in our native tongue…. I’m used to hiding my accent too but I don’t think they remember there are other Jamaicans in the states as well.

Hi I am from South Africa and it is scary how many scams you get the last few years. It is almost as if after lockdown everything just got crazy. My husband lost his business due to Covid and it is so hard to survive. It feels like all the scammers like to feed from people like us that has nothing. We do not have food but I will never go and scam someone. How do they sleep at night. Your videos are great.
I wish there were more people like you, Exela Support, who are dedicated to stopping these scammers and protecting the elderly from financial exploitation. They deserve serious consequences for their actions. Keep up the fantastic work you're doing, exposing these lowlifes and bringing them to justice.

One more thing about DMARC though: A DMARC policy is a request, not an obligation!!
A DMARC policy instructs to treat the emails according to the DMARC policy, but the recipient side (a system admin can do this, not a standard mailbox user) of the email is not required to comply with the DMARC policy.

Very good advise: Set up SPF and DMARC
Then immediately after: You know what else you should do? Get a VPN! Because this one silver bullet from the weird shady company will totally help.
If you think a VPN is good for privacy, look up 'browser fingerprinting'
That’s kinda fucked up the fact they can track your fingerprint as well
VPNs do help with privacy, they just are magic.

I was on Fiverr for about two months a few years ago and although I never got any sells I DID get A LOT of scam messages. Luckily I knew they were fake considering I know how to reverse image search AND I knew that if they want to communicate outside of the platform they are automatically trying to do something fishy.
Loved to watch Periogi, but this is now my favorite, you delve into so many types of scams i wasnt even aware of.

You must go back and "voiceover" the wrong word with the right one in every previous instance of this error, lest others hear it and erroneously fail to realize that it is unacceptable, thus further polluting our ways.
What? He said it right. It is "your data is secure" and not "your data are secure". Are you ESL or just special? Maybe wanna look up basic grammar and check out how countable vs uncountable works.
