I think you hit the jackpot. Such topics are very important nowadays. People are feeling so isolated in urban cities. China just experienced 2 cases of public killings. One by a driver using his car and another was a ex-student using a knife to stab people in his school. All these came from emotional imbalance ands stress.
Suicide cases and self harm are on the rise. Such topics will gain lots of interest. I liked what she was saying in this video. There is so much we need to learn about our inner state. We focus so much on the outside that we forgotten about our internal terrain.
I listen to motivational clips by Dr Joe Dispneza when i cycle. I try to clear up emotional debris within myself. I also meditate daily. Many a times, people would look at me when they hear these motivational talks because I use a speaker so they can hear too. So it got me thinking, were they thinking what’s wrong with this guy that he needs to listen to motivational videos? But maybe deep inside, they also needed to hear something motivational in their lives.

Qi is just amazing, my favorite guest in your interviews. She’s the kind of person who impresses you without even trying. Incredibly smart and logical, she has a way of breaking down complex ideas so they make perfect sense. At the same time, she’s deeply in tune with emotions and can connect with people on a meaningful level. She’s the kind of person you can’t help but admire. Singapore is so lucky to have her. It’s sad that she left New York. I wish I had the chance to meet her if she were still in NYC.

I was married to my Malaysian Chinese Narcissist for 22 years. After year 4 it was staying together for the child. Over the years she got worse and she formed the daughter into another narcissist just like her. When I realized that I filed for divorce. After we divorced she lied to everyone, telling them I'd gone back to the USA to start a business there. When I went back to her home town of Kualah Pilah (there is a chicken martibak there that is my favorite) I talked to the guy who was my tailor and when he found out I'd divorced her he was amazed. She lied to EVERYONE.

I always feel that I am a student of life. I am here to learn many things about myself and the world around me.
Emotional well being is not just about emotions. It’s about us and our core values. It’s about knowing why we are here, what is this meaning called life. We are here to learn, to grow and to become the best version of ourselves, or if not, the worst version. Most of the time, the worst comes out first. But there have been those whose best version came out early in life. Those were the blessed ones.
Trading is, in my humble opinion, the most dramatic moments where the worst and best version of a person come to the surface. You come face to face with fear, greed, doubts within you. You are forced to transcend yourself if you wish to succeed. It’s like trying to tame a fire. Either the fire consume you or you manage to subdue and control it and make it your servant for life. You come face to face with your worst enemies from within. It’s one hell of a roller coaster ride.
What is the purpose of life? Why am I born? What should I be doing? Most people choose the path of education, career, family, old age and death. This is what we see everyday around us. But is there something more than this usual grind? Maybe there is. But most people don't want to know it. Not interested in it. So they go through a series of trails and errors. And they find themselves asking, why am I doing all this for? This is why this lady’s interview got so many likes. People are questioning, what the hell am I doing?

Thank you, Qi, for the kind words.
Unlike my parents' generation, I have a liberal mindset due to my passion in science and technology.
I also developed somewhat of a confrontational personality as a form of defense mechanism towards the PTSD I accumulated.
Whenever I confronted my parents about the past, I often allowed my emotional outbursts, to mix with as much logical thinking as I could master, in order to be as fair as possible to both parents.
The emotional, yet mostly logical, verbalizing of anguish in countless quarrels with my parents over the years had allowed me to look at the dysfunction in my family from multiple perspectives and thus helped me to make peace with a lot of the frustrations and anguish.
I think my way of "making peace with the past", if I may say, should not be conventional for most people.
It can also be frowned upon as being extremely disrespectful to elderlies in the traditional Chinese family culture.

    • @SeeingQi
      @SeeingQi 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@hcbevin3234 Confrontation is one way of reconciling with the incongruence you felt internally. As children, we work really hard to try to figure out when something isn't quite right and we carry that confusion into adulthood. You're right that your method of reconciliation is "disrespectful" to elders in one culture, but your parents' way of nurturing you is also seen as "disrespectful" to a child's right to a loving environment (for example, in the humanistic philosophy framework). There are other ways of reconciling with the past. Many people who experienced adverse conditions growing up have tried EMDR therapy, which works neurobiologically to reprocess past memories. There are also books and documentaries about childhood trauma, which may help you in your continued healing - "The Body Keeps the Score" (Bessel van der Kolk) and "The Wisdom of Trauma" (Gabor Mate) - both are written/produced by medical doctors who focused later in their careers on psychological issues for which there no obvious physical symptoms but which do affect physical health.

Where I live most women are not able to think that way because we are not educated that well. Our options are limited to our ability to culture and education that shape our thinking, ability to find solutions, and how curios we are.

advise is good , but both have to be in the same frequency and timing , and that's the most difficult part. Imagine you open up yourself to your spouse for that 2 mins and he/she say " come on i don't time for this now , You didn't mop the floor today !" Haha

You're right, this is not an exercise to do unilaterally. Emotional connection requires safety and if you're sharing but your partner isn't receiving - that's unsafe and doesn't feel good.

I listened to this lady - and as she was talking, i realised ( as I have many times... but do nothing about it) that so MUCH of the "situations" she's referring are linked to "modern life"
So, without criticising her methods (they're probably quite a healthy assist to surviving) ...I don't think the "Deal" between Personal Life, Society Life, Employment Life, Government Life is good, healthy or satisfying anymore. The Life "deal" that's been made in the 21C looks like a shit deal - especially for our children.

I'm interested to hear more of your thoughts on this. I agree with your take on modern "life" - and for those who choose to live in this modern social / economic contract, the therapy that I offer are partly coping skills for making the insanity of modern life more bearable and sane.

@@SeeingQi Well Qi... I would need to really think about all the internecine links between State/Society/Corporations and the Individual, for many hours.
Let's say, that the first 'victim' in a 21C society is the freedom to have a 'vision' (big or small) and to make it a reality.
Similar to realities that were historically available. Such as the freedom and access to the tools that makes it possible: Time, Open Systems set for the benefit of the people; fair and equitable taxation, Law and opportunity.
In many modern societies, the People do not come first in the Society that their Forefathers/Mothers built.
      Small examples:
How did we get to a position where Apple etc off-shore their tax liabilities, even though they were "birthed" within the free, pre-educated, stable, financed Society, they took advantage of? (but the People cannot do the same). This makes them "un National" - a rule unto themselves.
How is it that "modern life" has much less 'Time' available to families, than the previous generation?
How is it that having full domain over your Data, Identity is impossible.
How is it, that Political Structures are not fully controlled and monitored by Law- set, over time, by the people - for the people?
Ultimately: how is it that a regular citizen feels to be controlled by the State (and many powerful external players) and not by a Constitution that is immutable - until changed by the Will of the People - not the compromised State?
And - why do so many, very different/divers people, ALL feel the same dissatisfaction? To have so MANY people, all feeling the same means that external factors have set the tone...not themselves?

Not even bothered to do or even say anything nice or show affection? Even if you remind her whats going on.... she refuse to improve on it?
