  • Elta Music sent me their new Polyvox PF3 stereo filter. It is a great filter to pair with your synths, drum machines & grooveboxes. Its my first experience with the Polyvox filter type and I thought I'd test it with the Drumlogue Impact, Minilogue, HydraSynth & Polyend Play.

    I really love my DrumBrute Impact, but kind of in the way you love a really ugly dog. I thinks its a tacky little thing with fairly odd and "off" drum sounds that don't quite fit the bill for what you need in most cases (this is strictly my opinion, not a generalization). But holy hell does the Polivox filter flip the script on the DB Impact! Instant injection of exactly what that box needed. With the addition, its no longer coy, really shows its "inner-Brute" and sounds wonderfully dark and massive. I can actually see my self using this combo and making something of it worth recording . Great vid!

    Can this be used with the Keystep 32 and the MC-101? Just wondering if this can tweak sounds from the MC-101 without the tedious, menu-diving aspect? Or, would a Keystep 37 be a better option?

    I loved the use case of the Drumbrute and that filter. I felt a bit of GAS there. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my wallet) I already have a Elta Polivoks-m and a Infradeep PVX-800, and though I would like to collect most Polivox stuff (including the Behringer one), I don't feel like I could purchase this filter just now. I am wondering what would happen if I drove a Drumbrute through my to polyvoxes...

    • @ianmorton1799
      @ianmorton1799 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting, I've found that with the roll log(? Maybe dirt box?) filter pack I installed, having a low and a high pass filter really brings out some sweet spots. If I have any complaints about the XD, it's not with the filter(s), but with how buzzy the saw wave is. It's a little tricky to tame sometimes. Though that is a lot of frequencies that can come down to a filter.

    Considering using this as part of a DJ setup, and would wonder if anyone has done same and what the results are. I'm running two turntables through a DJ mixer with an FX Loop, and would put this in the loop among some other effects.
    Anyone ever used this in that way before?

    • @Subtronik

      I know one DJ’s FX solution was using a Korg KP3+. Great flexibility, especially the touch pad.

    • @GizzyDillespee
      @GizzyDillespee ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Artie EffemeThat's not true... some fx don't work very well off of a mixer send, because the fx can't take the heat. Another thing is that some filters are more appropriate to use on full mixes, especially dance music.
      Let's say French House, you might want a LPF that seems to bring each higher instrument in one at a time as you raise the cutoff... you expect a certain type of sound there (maybe like a Mutator or even one of the old rack samplers). Whereas in Dub, you probably want a HPF emphasizes the sizzle, and so on.
