What happened in TJ? 20 years ago, there would be 10x as many girls on the streets, compared to what I'm seeing here, even during the day. At night the alley (Coahuila) would really get crazy, like elbow to elbow. Literally hundreds of them. Looks like dozens now. Sad.
Haven’t heard? México is growing in many aspects. Search for tren Maya, inter corridor transatlantic (it’s gonna compete with Panama Canal, their new refineries, hundreds of companies are moving to México for near shoring, back 20 years ago as you mentioned we had 99.9% of corrupt politicians, now we don’t and it shows. These girls here probably they just like the easy money and lifestyle but there’s less people as in bad shape as 20 years ago.
I can understand more low skilled jobs being available in the area now, but Mexico in general has under performed economically for decades, with 20 million more poor people in the country then there was 20 years ago. There has to be something more to this decline we are seeing in Zona Norte. Maybe social stigma. Everyone's got a camera phone and social media account now. Apparently buying sex is passé. Out of date. Fewer guys are interested. And the prices in the clubs have become ridiculous. The Zona used to be as cheap a place to party as you could ever find. But with the advent of the internet, the neighborhood was outed and gringos descended upon it. And once the gringos came, prices predictably skyrocketed. Locals pretty much avoid the club and street scene there. Rumors have it that a "locals only" Zona district will be established on the east side of the city. Away from gringo traffic.
Yep. I belonged to a few message boards about TJ in the early to mid 2000s but the place still managed to stay somewhat hidden from gringos. But when all the social media platforms started to emerge in the late 2000s, early 2010s, TJ could no longer remain a hidden gem. It's still crazy to hear about street girls charging $40 when I used to get them for $20, sometimes $15 on a slow day.@@richardweiler6931
