    I'm considering getting 60337 as well, since it appears to be available here in New Zealand. My only reservations/criticisms with this set are as follows:
    - The doors shouldn't be in the middle of the coaches, if this is supposed to depict a high-speed train like the TGV Atlantique or ICE-3.
    - Colour choice is really strange. I've always thought black, green and white don't go well together.
    - That streamlined front is very strange, especially when you look at it from the front. But I do like that Lego didn't use one huge moulded piece for the cab front this time.
    - Real high-speed trains (like the Lumo Class 803) have a cab at both ends, and I don't like how this Lego train only has one cab. It just makes the consist look weird and incomplete.
    However, I still think it's cool to finally have trains in the Lego City series again. I have both the 2018 sets, and it'll be fun to add 60337 to the line-up.
    Incidentally I only discovered this channel today, and I'm impressed to see the mention of München (I'd love to go there some day), as well as Kexy's accent. Incidentally all I've seen of München are parts of the S-Bahn lines S3 and S6, and that was only in Train Simulator.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your detailed comment. I agree with you on many things.
      The doors in the middle are familiar from trams but not from high-speed trains. However, I am glad that there are doors again. It's LEGO so we can rebuild it too. I'll make a video about it soon.
      I actually got used to the color during the digital construction. I can live with that and it actually looks better than you think.
      The long nose.. yes.. you have to get used to it. But if you look at different models of the Shinkansen, you'll see that the nose isn't really that unusual. But it remains a matter of taste.
      And well.. the driver's cab on both sides is of course mandatory. That's why I bought two of them. ;-)
      Have you seen my first video about the train? I have already criticized many points.
      I'm glad you came across my channel. I would say Munich is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Not only because of the Oktoberfest, but also because of the proximity to many cultural and historical places. And you are immediately in the Alps, but also in Austria, Italy or Switzerland.
      And you're impressed by my accent? How may I understand that?
      Unfortunately I don't play Train Simulator, but of course I know both S-Bahn lines ;-)

      I think the 2014 trains were superior. I never liked the double cabbed freight trains, and the high vibrancy of these new trains just turn me away. The 2014 ones just seemed more pleasing to look at.
      I want more American based trains, as the majority of the ones we get seem to be European based, and quickly get repetitive and boring.

    LOL I was thinking in my head "there's no way he didn't find a workaround for the buying limit, another store, a friend, etc." Honestly the fact that they limited you is pretty surprising since it's quite obvious Lego created the set with the intention of customers buying 2 of them, as they did the former set. I didn't run into any such issues here in Greece. I have my Son's running with both motors in the front and rear locos, bound to a single controller on a single throttle. I haven't opened the rear motor yet to reverse the wiring, so I've simply turned it around and run the cable in a way to minimize it affecting the motor pivot. Just a temporary solution till I find the time.
    We really like the length of the passenger coaches compared with 60197, among other things. However I'm already planning my mods. I don't like the transition between the front of the loco roof line and the top of the canopy on the cab. This just doesn't look right to me aesthetically, but I haven't figured out yet how I will solve this. I also think the hinged passenger doors have got to go, pneumatic recessed doors all the way. All in all I think this train can look pretty sharp with a few tasteful mods. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with yours. B E Z

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I was already in the store the day before and I was told that the passenger train is limited to one per person. However, I was able to convince the manager the day after with a lot of talk that he had given me both trains.
      I think I'll stick with an engine because it's actually powerful enough to pull the whole train. But I will use the old train wheels, they just roll much better. Unscrewing the motor and changing the wiring is too time-consuming for me, and unfortunately I am not an electronic genius. ;-)
      The length of the wagons is actually very good, although almost too long for Radius R40. Nevertheless, I will extend my wagons by 8 to 12 studs. The doors can be changed and you can also do a lot on the locomotive. Unfortunately, I am afraid that there is no really good replacement for the windscreen. I've tried a lot. But so far I haven't found the right part yet.
      Pneumatic doors sounds like a good idea. Let me know if you've rebuilt that. I would be interested. And you're right, the train can look really good with a few modifications. My modifications will be able to be followed here.

      I don't think I've been able to show the full potential yet, but the standard that LEGO delivers to us. If you exchange the new LEGO train wheels for the previous ones, you can certainly make a lot more speed. Also, I hadn't connected the second motor, with a second train motor the thing takes off like a rocket.

    The European landscape and the importance of the railroads remind me of the Northeastern United States. We always have lots of drama (I’m sure you’ve heard of Penn Central and in the 1990s the split of Conrail between NS and CSX) in the Northeastern railroading scene!

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically, I think the entire US railroad infrastructure is a disaster. Compared to the European rail network, the US rail network is still in its infancy. No offense. Still very few electric locomotives and far too many diesel locomotives. Unfortunately, that's not particularly economical. Also, I'm not aware of any high-speed trains or bullet trains in the US. This is a great pity, as it could relieve the heavily congested air traffic in the US.

      Hey Corey, thank you very much for your kind comment. Praise comments are my favorite, they always lift my mood abruptly. I can tell you, the new trains are really cool, too bad you have to wait so long. I have already ordered the 3rd passenger train online for my modifications. ;-) Unfortunately, I do not own the 60052. The train is way too expensive on eBay, but maybe I'll get it sometime anyway.
      One question: Do you really think the 60052 will keep you busy until August? When I buy something from LEGO, I build it immediately. This takes less than 2 hours and everything is finished.. ;-)
      On the weekend, probably Sunday, there will be a video about the freight train and the station. But no modifications yet. I'll save that for later videos ;-)

      The new train 60052 will not keep me busy enough until August for sure I will have that thing together in a couple hours. What I meant was I'm excited to get it and the newness will keep me happy until the new trains come out. I also have two sets of 60197 that I'm interested in doing your modifications to that train. Your mod video on 60197 is so incredible I really want to take that on maybe that's July's fun. I hear you on 60053 being expensive I feel like I got an ok deal, I got it off Mercari for $320 I feel it's money well spent I really like that locomotive. Will you ever post a video of your collection? What are your other lego intrest other than trains?

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@coreyschaeffer6959 Haha.. I had already wondered how you can have fun with a train set for 2 months. $320 for the set is of course already an announcement but I also think that the price for this set is still okay. I've already seen it for significantly more money on eBay. By the way, I also think that it is a nice freight train, especially since it is more typically American. You don't get that from LEGO too often. Apart from the Santa Fe and the BNSF Loco, I can't remember a typical American locomotive.
      I have already thought about making a video about all my trains soon. I will probably build a large layout outdoors and then let all trains run.
      Apart from trains, I like to build modulars. I own all the LEGO Modulars and also many others from alternative manufacturers... and then I like to buy city sets that I like. Most of the time, however, I use it as a basis to modify it afterwards.

    Sehr cool! Insbesondere auf den großen Radien sieht der Schnellzug Hammer aus!
    Meine Vorbestellung verzögert sich leider um mehrere Wochen, weil LEGO Lieferschwierigkeiten hat. Wollte dann über die Webseite bestellen, da war auch schon alles weg, Mensch. Zum Glück habe ich einen LEGO-Store zehn Minuten Fußweg von mir, da konnte ich einen ergattern; die zweite Hälfte kommt dann in ein paar Wochen mit Verspätung... fast wie bei der DB ;)

      Ja, ich finde auch, dass die großen Radien deutlich besser sind. Leider sind diese für ein Layout in Häusern und Wohnungen nur bedingt geeignet. Deswegen baue ich das auch immer im Freien auf. Da hat man dann einfach mehr Platz. Ich bin superglücklich, dass das gestern geklappt hat. Ich war erst schockiert, da ich im Regal gar keinen Passagierzug erkennen konnte, bevor der Store geöffnet hat. Ich bin dann gleich zu einem der Verkäufer und hab danach gefragt und der meinte, die wurden bereits reserviert. Glücklicherweise hat sich herausgestellt, dass ich derjenige war und ich konnte die einzigen beiden Modelle mitnehmen.. Manchmal muss man Glück haben ;-)
      Für die Türen habe ich mittlerweile mehrere Ideen. Ich weiß aber noch nicht was ich machen werde. Die Fenster seitlich legen, wie beim Horizon Express war grundsätzlich auch mein Plan, aber ich muss mir das erstmal digital ansehen, bevor ich da Teile kaufe.

    The only thing I don’t like about this train is that it’s doors are all focused on the middle bit of the carriages. Kexy, would the new passenger carriages be able to modified for the doors to be on the each side of the carriage instead of in the middle? As newer high speed trains (including some intercity ones) have been able to do this with doors in each end of the carriage and was still able to let passengers that are on wheel chairs to board with ease. So I think with Lego could do the same as well?

    • @kexysbrickbuilts

      Thank you for your comment. I have already designed some versions with different doors. In any case, it is possible to move the doors to the ends of the wagons. The problem, however, is the split level of the wagons. If you remove the doors in the middle, a very large white area remains, which does not look really nice. I have an idea for this too, but not everyone will like it. But I will present my modifications in one of my next videos.

      The new train wheels, which were previously only used in the Disney train and the Ghost train (hidden side theme), no longer have a metal axle. The friction seems higher and the wheels no longer run evenly.

      interesting, i thought they redesigned it because it had less friction? or maybe that is true on a lighter carriage build but when it's heavier, the old wheels perform better? No LEDs are supplied with the freight train. However, the train is prepared for it. Unfortunately, you have to buy the LED set from LEGO beforehand. There is a lot I don't like about this train and your video has only increased these things.
    I'm not keen on the over hang of the nose on the corners. The way the front windscreen meets the roof and the slope bricks around it is really average. Also the height of the floors in the carriages is terrible and wastes a lot of space. Why step the floor down that far to then have a cheese wedge up to the door height and then not have stairs up to the seating area. It just seems half way done and if the floor height was a few plates higher the bottom of the carriages could be sloped to match the locomotive. Then there are those horrible new wheel sets.
    But aside from all the negativity I'll probably still buy 2 and then MOC it to the point that I will be happy with it.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right about many of the things you state. But one must also not forget that it is not a set for AFOLs but a children's set. They don't bother about the things that bother an adult. The issue of the transition between the wind screen and the roof is actually not solved perfectly. Sometimes it would just be nicer if LEGO developed a new part. A suitable wind screen can be used anywhere. And the matter of the height difference in the wagons has actually not been solved either. But like you, I will also completely modify my train. I just see it as a good base, just like the previous passenger train (60197). That's why it's LEGO.. I can rebuild it.

  • @ronik24
    @ronik24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The train is fine, however, these sharp lower edges of the cars are simply ugly. Even if the low-floor design does not allow a round bottom like the power cars, some curved slopes should do the trick to achieve a smoother look.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean. That's probably a matter of taste. LEGO could have done without the split level. Maybe LEGO should have simply used the inverted slope curved, which was also used on the locomotive, also on the wagons. After I plan to modify the train, I will try different things and see what looks best.
