I also like the idea of both Silas and Geppetto misinterpreting what is required. Maybe Pinocchio needs to be bound to a living life to remain animated; he became wood as soon as she died. Maybe he would have survived and been strong if he was bound to a healthy adult.
puppetry is truly a scary concept. I've never seen this show but that was one creepy tale of a puppet. The thought of the man losing his mind after losing his son as a very nice touch. I love when people realize that blood and gore is not the scary parts but the actual tale and details in the story. Realizing that the old man just killed an innocent girl thinking he'd get his son back send chills down my spine. It leaves you theorizing about it all night long.
Fabio Di Miceli little red riding hood is in the musical Into the Woods, which Disney made into a movie in 2014. So technically Disney has done little red riding hood.

The girl is supposed to symbolize the Blue Fairy. In the Disney movie, Pinocchio is only turned into a "real boy" after the Blue Fairy performs her magic. In this, the little girl is wearing blue and is the "required step" in order to keep Pinocchio "real". Obviously, the part on Silas drowning is referencing Pinocchio and Ghepetto being swallowed by the Great Whale. The hand puppet (based off of watching this video and not the full one) is probably meant to be a conflation of Jimmeny Cricket and the Wolf and Cat. This was a bit easier to breakdown and theorize compared to the other ones. Very good stuff

Love the drawing in the beginning. First off how can u suffocate wood? Anyway i think Geppetto either killed her to make her into wood or something (like u said.) Or he also made a girl puppet for his replaced son.🤔💁🏾♀️🧏🏾♀️ Either way, he needs to go to a hospital and rushed to a mental facility. 😬
This short reminded me of a chapter from the Godchild manga. A little girl was turning people into dolls because she didn't want them to leave her like her mom. It was just as creepy and twisted as this episode. You should check them out. They're awesome.
I suspect he already encased his sons body in the wood, which would explain the eyes and teeth, as well as some details around the mouth. I think that the girl is the second to be encased given that he is holding the same tool to her face at the end as he was with the puppet at the start.
6:43 that inset pic defines the character very well as he's portrayed in the short (loved it btw). Everything you need to know about him is right there on his face. >:D
I find it interesting that Crypt Tv didn't go the Mad Father route. I'm talking about a puzzle RPG horror game (Mad Father) in which a little girl named Aya must navigate her once familiar manor (now haunted by the risen dead of her father's experiments) to save her father. In the end, she finds out her father's experiments as part of his passion project: making dolls that look real. I kind of hoped that Crypt TV would use the dead girl's excuse and watch him turn her into a doll so that his son would have a friend like him.
I can't tell what Gepetto has in his hand at the end, but I think it was something for carving wood? So maybe he's 'carving' the little girl? I also TOTALLY thought she was supposed to be the blue fairy, since she's in a blue dress and also has a name that starts with 'B'. Which makes even MORE sense when you realize she was supposed to 'give life' to Pinocchio.
I have a series called "Battle Royale" that twists the origins and characteristics of fairy tale characters into not just modern people (like in Fable), but also superheroes & villains. And in the series, I made Geppeto be more like a Professor X figure/caretaker of unique and unusual children & teenagers.

I decided to revist the first video ive ever watched of yours. This is it and it still terrifies me. For some reason im not subscribes yet 🤔. I'll do it now.
Am I the only one who compares the story of Pinocchio to the story of God. Gepetto could be God, Pinocchio could be us. We were given the free will to do whatever we want, but we abused it and thus we fall into sin and temptation and are separated from God. Pinocchio becoming a real boy, can represent us as humans, restoring our bond with God and entering heaven reborn and innocent again like children.
(I got these ideas from other comments, just putting them together) Maybe the girls spirit will become the blue fairy, and "Gepetto" might collect a bunch of puppets (both human ls cased in wood and actual puppets) and start a puppet show
Before watching this I thought they were going to go the creepy Geppeto kidnaps children and turns them into puppets by trapping their soul in wooden children route. 1. Give creepy man a toy store that specializes in puppets 2. Lure unsuspecting children in 3. Secretly trap the child inside 4. Work your weirdo magic in the back room 5. Put the new puppet soul catastrophe in the window as the next new display 6.Wash, rinse, repeat

I think Crypt T.V. should do some shorts based on lesser known stories, like Bluebeard or Old Donkeyskin.
