I studied finance, but had a illness in the family and couldn't get the ideal finance internship so I ended up going into a non-profit for a while. Evenually I quit and ended up as an accountant at a SaaS company and I've been trying for months to get into finance with no luck.
I'm so sorry, I hope your family member is doing better! And agreed, this industry can be brutal sometimes but don't give up, I'm sure you'll make it!! If you have friends at places that you're interested in working at, they might be able to give you a referral, or maybe cold messaging people at relevant companies on LinkedIn could lead to something too. I'm crossing my fingers for you🤗

This is such a great video. Very comprehensive and easy to understand. The certified FA course I'm taking is an 8 week course and it's through the Corporate Finance Institute. I'm wondering if I can land a job at all with just the certificate?

There’s no way in hell that a finance professional is going to agree to meet up for a coffee with some randomer off linked in. There’s absolutely nothing in it for them, and would be a complete waste of their time. CERTAINLY if it was a man doing the cold message. MAYBE for an attractive female, messaging a man. But no one would agree to meet a male stranger.
