Luke Skywalker: "Master Yoda... is the Dark Side stronger?"
Yoda: "From a gameplay perspective, fucking OP it is yes, mmm!"
I wonder if it's like a drug; the first time you take it, it makes you ballistic (Anakin literally wipes a temple of Jedi), but later you need greater and greater anger to achieve the same results. It'd be thematically fitting.
@@bajes328 I mean it’s harder to sustain that amount of hatred for a long period of time. At that point, Cal’s hatred is at its peak.
That "mmm" lol spot on. Yoda
Sith lawd Darth Scrapper
@@bajes328 What's stronger than the dark side is Yoda's addiction to that Ketamine
You can go back to the ISB base after this quest and there'll be Force Echoes with imps being absolutely terrified and screaming while you can hear Cal just slaughtering them all in the background 😂
is there a video showing this? sounds cool
I think it's specifially after the credits roll, as there are many unmarked Force Echoes (meaning BD-1 can't put them on the map) that spawn after the credits, including the ones from Cal's Dark Side rampage
That’s so good 😂
In Denvik's office there's also an echo in which you hear Darth Vader came to the base and personally killed Denvik
@@deinonychus1948Does not have to be after the credits. Before heading to tanalorr go back and you can get them.
Respawn need to control all future star wars games from now on. Their writing room is GOD TIER
I agree the story is pretty good. I'd just appreciate if their games were less about absurdly labyrinthian levels, random out of place puzzles, and killing ten billion animals, and more about that story.

Kinda need all those things for an engaging game😊

Merrin: “I will not lose you too!!!”
Theory: “Hehehehe, use your aggressive feelings boy”
That shit had me dying
Not much dark side, he just slowed them all down. Should’ve been some force unleashed repulse and other Starkiller insane force powers, biggest L in this game.
What I loved about this section for me was, I had a purple saber and when you embraced the darkness the effect made the Saber look red.
Same!
Same thing happened with me and my white lightsaber
With blue (not cyan) lightsaber it looks white somehow
my headcannon is Cal can go full Sith Lord in bursts and snap out on command and his lightsaber goes full red and back to normal when conscious again
Same. I had a purple lightsaber and it looked red. For my ng+ I'm going to use the red saber after this scene
God knows that was my favorite part. There's no way a person goes through what he has and doesn't rage out.
Especially when his one friend went and killed his love ones and Vader coming in to kill cereal and to fing out this was sorta a trap to kill some of the empire ya man I too would say fuck the light let's go rage mode
@@flamefoxtrot6982 Ah yes. RIP Cereal.
RIP cereal the legend
What about Obiwan
@@CrazyRampageObi Wan is the "perfect" jedi, but he did rage out when Satine died no?
This was definitely a highlight in the game in my opinion really loved using this ability so much.
i loved the game mainly because there basicly turning Cal into The Canon Equivalant Of Starkiller
Would love it if the 3rd game could implement some choices that could take you down a darker path. Doesn't have to a be a full blown RPG style, but some story options that would lead to you bleeding your crystal, unlocking a new set of skills, appearance etc. Just have a "light/dark" ending.
Of couse, since they plan to implement Cal into live-action, one of the endings would have to be canon of course, but still....would love to see Cal fully embrace and go down the dark side.
from a player choice, and gameplay perspective, and everyone getting an angle of what they want, i fully support this.
I really wish they could have multiple endings and just say which one is canon. The obsession with continuity has taken so much of the fun out of games like this. So many older SW games hit a lot harder for me, even if the "choice" was often binary it was nice to have.
Perhaps it could lean on the visions from the first game. Cal trying to restore the order while Vader tries to make him use the dark side, and choices you make defines the ending on if Cal teaches the jedi or becomes an Inquisitor.
Like infamous?
@@yoitscleavlandjr5109 just what I was about to say
I bet the third one will be about trying to balance the light side and more dark powers will be introduced
Lightning
@@girthatbirth as much as I want Lightning, I feel like it will be too much cheese
@Ben Kim Maybe there could be two versions, one for short range and one long range?
The short range lightning stuns and damages close enemies in a cone, while the longer range lightning is for sniping maybe two enemies max?
And both can be used to completely disable droids.
BUT there should be a sort of indicator of how far into the Dark Side you're going, so you really have to watch how often you use certain abilities. And if you go too far, Cal has a chance of just... not responding. The game takes control from the player, and he goes into a rage for a few seconds - it's super strong, but he takes way more damage attacks from behind
@@Emerald501st i mean, there is light side lightning. electric judgement was an ability where if you used feelings of justice instead of hate jedi could also use lightning.
@@Emerald501st To make the lightning work, there would need to be some sort of cooldown and skill to using it.
If you force pull a droid during the darkside super, you force crush them and drop them like an old tin can. It's pretty great
When you use Confusion on an enemy, they have a brain aneurysm
@@FirestoneAnimationare you joking or does it actually give them brain bleeds
I love the idea of a jedi surviving order 66 turning to the darkside and killing all empire.
Like not really in it to restore anything, just in it to end it
If cal kestis keeps training with the darkside and getting stronger he may even become stronger than certain jedi council members
Not so sure about that one. He'll become strong, but his training is not on their level.
Not even close. The enemies cal deals with in these games are cool and all, but they are fodder compared to Jedi council members. An Average Jedi council member can solo the whole Inquisitorius. (not including grand inquisitor)
He'll just become a grey jedi
I felt so guilty and sad after this, respawn did a great job in getting me invested with Cal. It hurts to see him struggle with the darkside.
@@Nobleman23 Kanan, who only got to Padawan level before Order 66, killed The Grand Inquisitor too. The Malachor episode showed how much of a joke the Inquisitors are when compared to honed fighters like Ahsoka and Maul. They just can't compete.

What I love about this is when you play as Cere, she could unlock those super doors too. So you know she had accepted that part of herself but was still a force for good and found peace. I think that’s going to play a part in Jedi 3.
Cal definitely made it into my top 5 sw characters. I love this game 🫡💯
It reminded me a lot of the Ghost stance from Ghost of Tsushima. The writing in this game was nothing short of incredible. Easily my favorite Star Wars game of all time now
That moment in ghost of tsushima was so epic too
Exactly what I was thinking too
Too bad it's set on Disney star wars universe where Dave filoni doesn't care about continuity and consistency and will retcon any lore anytime he likes it to fit his ashoka tano fantasy also all roads lead to Jake Skywalker drinking space cow milk
I love the “Darth…..vayrr”😂😂 perfect imitation 😂
It would be such a waste to not put Cal in some live action project. Cameron is an amazing actor, it would actually surprise me if he didn’t kill it.
Maybe he will end as Grandmaster Cal and be treated as such in cânon after the 3° possible game.
If anyone can do Starkiller justice in the Canon universe it's Respawn. It would be cool to see him interact with Cal in some way or even get another game of his own.
we’ll never see Starkiller become canon unfortunately. he’s too powerful to ever fit into continuity; a toned down Galek wouldnt be the same imo
Nah they will ruin him
I've been saying for years how if they made a sequel, I'd love it if Cal (wanting to learn the secrets of the Sith in order to destroy them) gained Dark Side powers by going to temples on ancient Sith worlds and gaining new abilities like Lightning, Choke, Illusion, Mind Probe, Drain, etc by defeating the spirits of ancients Sith; Nihilus, Revan, Bane, Desolous, Phobos, etc.
Cal kind of learned force illusion in this game, he briefly used it against Dagan
@@sentientmustache8360 True, but it's not really the same. Imagine traveling to a dangerous planet (let's say Vjun, because it's a world covered in acid rain storms, and in Legends, both Dooku and Vader had a castle there.) After traveling the dangerous terrain and avoiding obstacles in the temple, Cal defeats the spirit of Darth Phobos and gains her ability to use Force Illusions; where you can upgrade the ability to make multiple troopers think they're under attack by tendrils made of darkness or that they're surrounded by rebel soldiers (actually their fellow troopers)
Tell me people wouldn't want that as opposed to the "High Republic" crap Disney wedged in here.
I mean the high republic is pretty dope honestly. Jedi at their peak and prime, I think your idea is perfect for a third game, but not this one bc cal at the end of this game against the legends of the syth is still kinda hard to take seriously.
Let him age up and train a bit more before taking them on imo. He was Padawan level of skill in fallen order, Jedi knight level in this game, if there is another(hope so) any insane stuff you suggested will be much more believable for him to achieve. Jesus Christ I actually care about what a star wars character is doing again, I didn't even realize. Thank you respawn.
@@whenallelsfails21 The only thing "dope" about the "High" Republic is how much of it the writers were smoking. I still remember when they were writing it, the first items the emphasized were more diversity, sensitivity, and wanting to put freaking dinosaurs in Star Wars. Or how about when they made a smuggler crew, and the name of the ship was "the Vessel" and the co pilot was a literal rock. How many hours did they spend coming up with that goldmine, I wonder?
@@patrioticjustice9040 I never noticed any social politics personally, or dinosaurs, or rock people now that you mention it, but I guess we read and watched different things on the topic. It's all opinions man, enjoy what you want.
You can force crush droids in darkside mode like what Luke did in Mando. Pull them and press light attack.

Dude I love theory’s community. The last bastion of true Jedi knights watching the order fall around them but holding out hope with bravery and the force as our ally we shall see true Star Wars return once again. And even if it does not it shall forever live on in our hearts.
This moment edited with "anakin's dark deeds" could be great.
Cant wait to see reaction mashups to some of the moments in this game
This is literally just like when you unlock The Ghost Stance in Ghost of Tsushima. It plays exactly the same as that sequence.
Theory's reaction was my exact reaction too. Just gigglin like a little kid lmao
Merrin: “Cal, this isn’t you!!”
Theory: “hehehe yeesssss dark side muy fun-o”
The next game will hopefully continue cal fighting with his inner darkside and explore that more. We see cal nearly lose himself a few times in the game and it was really cool. Defo think the darkside will be a big theme in the next game as towards the end of survior cal dicusess his inner darkness alot and that scene after he defeated bode and ignites his red lightsaber was so cool and foreshadowing I think. I reckon Merrin will be the counter balance to him completely lossing himself. Maybe they could add chioces were we the player can chose to take cal down the light or dark path or something inbetween, would be really cool to see some light RPG elements. regardless I can't wait for the next game in 3 - 4 years.
All that would be really cool, but I can imagine they would do something so stupid like turning the third game into a live service, that no one wants to happen
Third game needs Cal to fall to the dark side after Kata is kidnapped or something. Would be incredible
I doubt Kata being kidnapped would make him fall. If she was killed perhaps but Merrin can bring him back. The 3rd game will probably introduce dark side powers for Cal to use though.
@@unionblue21 If he adopted her as his own then as a father you’d tear the world apart to find your child, I’d love to see that as he’d breeze past inquisitors

That is definitely the dark-side power Rage/Fury mixed in with his regular Slow. I think I remember the same effect in KOTOR II.

When I took down one of the Dark Troopers it did a special kill animation where Cal force crushed the Dark Trooper just like Luke did but of course being in rage mode

7:27 the light from Cals saber is still blue
Bruh not gonna lie. when I played this for the first time it felt like I was playing force unleashed all over again
In my playthrough I was wearing all white and gold and my saber too, but when this happened I started slowly changing it to black and gold every time I used it.
This part was completely badass I wish we could always use the dark side in this game
After this the force slow move is permanently replaced with the dark side variant. You can always use it once whenever the meter charges

Cal Kestis had learned well from Kratos the God Of War
Ghost of Sparda: "Let the rage of the Jedi drive your saber Kestis."
The coolest thing about cals rage is that you have a darth vader / luke skywalker moment with it, you can pull in any enemy (other than sith/jedi) and stab them, crush them, etc.
7:58 i nearly choked on my food when he whipped out the emperor voice
One of the most coolest things I've seen in a star wars game since the battlefront games, SWTOR and force unleashed.
You can explore how sick all the dark side abilities are, I was honestly shocked to find out that when you force pull a security droid and wait a few seconds Cal will literally use Force Crush
just like Luke did in Mandalorian S2
You can also force crush most droids including security droids. Just do pull on them and hold them there. Then attack. Crumple like a tin can
I like the idea that they are pushing him to be a grey Jedi, balancing both sides of the force
I don't think they are.
8:00
This is probably the funniest but best impression I’ve seen of the emperor
8:14 Ah yes, Darth Voya, the greatest sith who ever lived
I love how Merrin is trying to stop cal and theory is just cackling like palpatine
I fully believe Cal is going down the road to become a gray Jedi. He struggles with the darkness throughout the whole game. I could easily see the third game focusing on Cal struggling to stay towards the light. It’d be so interesting to see him use both the light and dark. It makes sense too because light and dark are required for balance in the force. Who’s to say a Jedi couldn’t use both and continue to stay in that morally gray area?
I disagree, the part of Cal's development in the game follows from what Cere told him in the first game, that "every Jedi will struggle with the dark side". Cere conquered her darkness, and that made her a force to be reckoned with against Vader. Part of Merrin's and Cal's dialogue also talks about how Merrin acknowledges this darkness Cal has, and she states that "Cere won her battle with the dark side, you will too". The ending of the game is essentially him choosing to follow the path that Cere laid down for him, in her honor. That entire last scene with the funeral pyres shows Cal coming to terms with reality and discovering his new mission and code to live by, thus as Cere did, winning his battle with the dark side. The Inner Darkness mechanic only remains afterwards in the game for gameplay reasons. Grey Jedi is a stupid concept concocted by people with egregious power fantasies and should not exist within Star Wars, even George Lucas himself states thus. Anyone who thinks Cal will continue to utilize the Dark Side completely missed the point of the story and his character development.
@@brotherbunghole9562let’s js wait till the next game comes out 😂 idk they still might do it
I don't think so and I hope they don't.
Good question you need both so has anyone in Star Wars lore actually tried wielding both and to what effect?
I was using an orange saber and when i got to this the screen effect turned my saber red and i was downright losing my mind 😂
I love when Cal uses his dark side mode the musc gets all creepy.
ISB Officer: [all smug because he knows the Jedi Code prevents Cal from being a genuine personal threat to him]
Cal: [sends his fist through the Jedi Code like cheap stage glass to throat punch the smarmy bastard]
ISB Officer: I've made a terrible mistake...
My favorite part of this is that they don't walk it back. I was so worried when Merrin calmed him down that this whole sequence was just a one off, but no. You have it for the rest of the game. The darkness is a part of him now. And given all the shit that Cal has been through, why shouldn't it be? Frankly I'm surprised it took this long.
beating the game yesterday, what an amazing game !
I love Cal & Merrin so much, really the best thing star wars disney ever done.
One thought tho, the only one thing that can prevent the falling for Cal to the dark side is Merrin. If he lose her... i don't think he will recover from that.
Can't wait for the third game
Now imagine prime Mace Windu who had controls over it
Bro unlocked ghost stance
A cool bit of lore is that Cere's moves and abilities in gameplay are very similar to Cal's darkside rampage moves and abilities. After embracing his darkness cal is able to open the locks. Cere did that during her gameplay segment. The combatoves are also similar to Cal's when he is in the darkside rampage. It shows that Cere has conquered her fears of the darkside
No doubt the 3rd game will have a light/dark system. Much like how they wanted more stances in the first game, but didn't have time, so they teased us with the dual saber attack, this section is definitely a taste of what's to come. Speaking of stances, how cool was the blaster stance?! I felt like a swashbuckling Jedi Soundrel the whole time. I always imagined Kyle Katarn fighting like that.
I shat my pants when “embrace the darkness” came across my tv screen
Respawn needs to be in charge of a Force Unleashed remake. That game would make so much money lol
I love how right before this we see how strong Cere is with the light side of the force. So much so that Cal sacrifices his sole to the dark side and all he gets is just Cere's moveset
“Give the inquisitors my regards” just shows how much stronger cal is compared to them
When playing through the game there was a part of me that hoped the game would end with Cal starting to slowly emrace the dark side, and then make a third game where he fully embraces it and becomes a full on sith lord. I think that could have made for a great trilogy. So when this moment happened i lost my shit thinking that it might actually be happening.
cal kestis isn’t a desperate individual, he isn’t just gonna give up the way of the jedi just to become a sith.
