UPDATE! The Honda City e:HEV has been launched for Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). What do you think of the price?

My Prediction Was Above 22 Lakhs But 19.49 Is Worth It !

Way too pricey! I would rather pick any car with a diesel engine and save half the money for a Thailand visit ;)

At current petrol price of 120rs per litre, Hybrid City would take 1.1lakh kilometers to be on par with the expenses incurred when bought and driven a regular petrol honda city zx cvt variant for the same kilometers. All this not including the maintenenace costs. I'd say it's not very economical. Maybe useful if you travel a lot(a lot). might as well buy a diesel vehicle.

Bought the ZX petrol CVT for 17 lakh on road in Sept 2021. If the estimated price ex showroom is 22 lac. It will be a hard sell. Cos on road it will be close to 25 lac. People will not pay that extra 7-8 lac for fuel cost. They might just go for a diesel city ZX

Exactly what I was thinking! I am subscribed to all the other automotive channels but only Autocar & Evo India do clear straight to the point reviews. Everyone else has their focus on cinematography & just complicated gags that is borderline hard to focus on what is being said.

Hi Kshitij, we will be doing a proper efficiency test once we get the car for a longer duration. This was a first drive so we had to shoot for the magazine and the video and since the results wouldn’t be consistent, we avoided it. But even after hard driving we could manage around 16kpl. So city driving might return around 17-18kpl. Cheers!

They should have made some significant changes on the outside... to differentiate it from the regular City... it doesn't look new or striking.. don't get me wrong.. the City's design is really great.. but there are so many on the road today... this doesn't look like a brand new one... i love sedans.. great to see new ones coming in the market like Virtus Slavia and now this... but I'm really liking the Virtus 1.5 GT

    Honda City or Creta?
    Preferences:
    1. Petrol Automatic
    2. Driving pleasure (highway, city, hilly areas (during long trips which happen once in a while)
    3. Comfortable ride (both front and rear seats)
    4. Durability + peace of mind + less maintenance cost
Should I even consider City Hybrid?

For 22 lakhs, that too a petrol car, I feel this is priced at a crazy range. It will take an age to come level with the investment when there are already other cars even among Honda’s brigade itself to have closer mileage claims.
And by then, there will be better hybrid tech as well. Those who have money to throw will get this, but I personally don’t see an immediate benefit.

Honda should get a new infotainment system, maybe ventilated seats, wireless charging, wireless car play, foldable back seats, adjustible back headrests, back row USB charging, increased ground clearance, more height and width would also do good for indian market since the fun and dynamics of a vtec manual is gone in this anyways..and why dont hybrid cars get a manual transmission option? and why cant honda make a DSG as well? What is the safety rating of the HONDA CITY since nobody talks about Honda build much? Good to see honda do well in india with adas and good hybrid considering EV charging infra aint good yet and petrol is exp asf. Honda couldve made this hybrid with a cheaper model as well to attract more customers. and how long do u think the hybrid will take to get back the money paid for it and what about servicing costs of it and will it have as good resale as a normal car?

According to me, considering it's proper hybrid unlike ciaz wannabe hybrid, it delivers almost similar fuel efficiency when we compare with ciaz. I was expecting around 30kmpl from proper hybrids when cars like ciaz can give 20kmpl and then we are paying premium.

Bit costly from a mileage /cost recovery perspective. But Actually they are trying to reduce emissions while still delivering ample power as tighter and stricter regulations will result in lesser powered and more emission controlled engines. So to compensate power loss they need electric motors. And we should also take some responsibility by spending some more amount if it helps in reducing emissions.
