At current petrol price of 120rs per litre, Hybrid City would take 1.1lakh kilometers to be on par with the expenses incurred when bought and driven a regular petrol honda city zx cvt variant for the same kilometers. All this not including the maintenenace costs. I'd say it's not very economical. Maybe useful if you travel a lot(a lot). might as well buy a diesel vehicle.
Masterpiece from Honda As a True Honda Fanboy I feel the Happiness that this Car Doesn't have any Direct Compitition as of now in this Segment 😊😊❤️❤️ i-VTEC Kicks in Yo with that 250 NM of Torque 😊😊❤️❤️
Exactly what I was thinking! I am subscribed to all the other automotive channels but only Autocar & Evo India do clear straight to the point reviews. Everyone else has their focus on cinematography & just complicated gags that is borderline hard to focus on what is being said.
Bought the ZX petrol CVT for 17 lakh on road in Sept 2021. If the estimated price ex showroom is 22 lac. It will be a hard sell. Cos on road it will be close to 25 lac. People will not pay that extra 7-8 lac for fuel cost. They might just go for a diesel city ZX
22 lakhs ex showroom is a deal breaker. More tech means more chances of errors. At this price range, least radar detection should have been added, along with ventilated seats
The sporty e-hev ever to have been in India under 20 lakh, sporty exterior, sporty performance and a sporty interior., overall a sporty e-hev of real drive to enthusiasts.,👍👏👌🥂
If it was diesel, I'm sure it'd do 30 kmpl lol. Impressive tech. I have always been for PHEVs. ICE to EV is too much of a transition. ICE to PHEV to EV sounds rational imo
this is one of my favourite cars and this car has become the best-selling sedan in our market it's still continuing until today and beats all the competition
I am all for such cars...No headache of waiting for recharge but still functions like ev and optimises fuel usage. Worth buying than those crap 100% EVs.
They should have made some significant changes on the outside... to differentiate it from the regular City... it doesn't look new or striking.. don't get me wrong.. the City's design is really great.. but there are so many on the road today... this doesn't look like a brand new one... i love sedans.. great to see new ones coming in the market like Virtus Slavia and now this... but I'm really liking the Virtus 1.5 GT
Would be great to do a follow up video with real world economy. As that's what buyers will look for, sepcially in this model as compared to the internal combustion engine variants.
Hi Kshitij, we will be doing a proper efficiency test once we get the car for a longer duration. This was a first drive so we had to shoot for the magazine and the video and since the results wouldn’t be consistent, we avoided it. But even after hard driving we could manage around 16kpl. So city driving might return around 17-18kpl. Cheers!
Honda City or Creta? Preferences: 1. Petrol Automatic 2. Driving pleasure (highway, city, hilly areas (during long trips which happen once in a while) 3. Comfortable ride (both front and rear seats) 4. Durability + peace of mind + less maintenance cost Should I even consider City Hybrid?
I watch a lot of videos regarding new car & biks launches ... But none of them explains the way Autocar does about the vehicles. Apart from the price everything else is awesome in this Honda.
Honda Created a new segment, at a right time. Certainly, it’s an Eco upgrade for those who want a spacious, eco friendly, efficient, fun to drive(also, to backseat lovers). It ticks ✅ all boxes. Now that roads are getting better, it should pickup the sales 👍
Long time had been reviewed by... Jai.... 😅😅 Complex System in Honda City... Need extensive experience from customers..... Actually speaking today Jai's review was new style... timing and explanation.... ❤️ From Bengaluru
Everything is good, but my doubt is will Honda continue in India? They have shut down one of their plant and currently they are using their plant near Gujarat, also they don't have any other models other than City. What is Honda's plan in India for their vehicles?
For 22 lakhs, that too a petrol car, I feel this is priced at a crazy range. It will take an age to come level with the investment when there are already other cars even among Honda’s brigade itself to have closer mileage claims. And by then, there will be better hybrid tech as well. Those who have money to throw will get this, but I personally don’t see an immediate benefit.
Honda may be waiting for the feedback from Media Review drives to price it to be a hit. So, idea should be that you should be evaluating it lesser, may be 16.99 Lakhs, so that, all of us can buy it :-D
I have a 2018 V-MT iVTEC and it gives me 18-20km on highway rides with a light footed drive. So the breakeven to go for the new hybrid will still be a big IF
How is city ehev different from Toyota Prius? how is the technology so different for the hype? is it just the size of the battery pack which is the differentiator.
For all those wondering the steep price..45% taxes on hybrid engines as on date compared to 5% on EV..its inevitable that prices will have to come down and realise we are not yet ready for EV..for now both are expensive parlour trick.
Honda should get a new infotainment system, maybe ventilated seats, wireless charging, wireless car play, foldable back seats, adjustible back headrests, back row USB charging, increased ground clearance, more height and width would also do good for indian market since the fun and dynamics of a vtec manual is gone in this anyways..and why dont hybrid cars get a manual transmission option? and why cant honda make a DSG as well? What is the safety rating of the HONDA CITY since nobody talks about Honda build much? Good to see honda do well in india with adas and good hybrid considering EV charging infra aint good yet and petrol is exp asf. Honda couldve made this hybrid with a cheaper model as well to attract more customers. and how long do u think the hybrid will take to get back the money paid for it and what about servicing costs of it and will it have as good resale as a normal car?
You should wait for the face-lift planned some point this or next year. This car.needs an upgrade. VW Vertos and Skoda Slavia are packed with those new features and excellent engines. Comon Honda
Thank you for the video. I hope you would have stated numbers of the actual economy the car gives. The question is, is fuel economy really worth of increase in cost.
Would like to see the how cost efficiency is to buy this vs ev cars. I’m guessing the hybrid cars are expensive in terms of maintenance. I may be wrong, but correct me.
This will turn out to be a huge blunder for Honda here in India. Non Hybrid gives a mileage of 15kmpl in city and this one is said to return 18-19kmpl. What a joke. Also I have Honda city diesel and I think that’s the best bet in terms of “efficiency”. I get 20-21kmpl and it cost same as CVT zx.
As always your reviews are the best....hybrid is the best option as there is no range anxiety.....Honda Sensing not practical for Indian roads....ZX only for people looking for high tech in a car.....Honda should also get a VX varient....would sell like hot cakes
Honda does not show the intent to please premium customer base of India. In today’s world where temperature in India is almost 41-42 Celsius, it’s a crime to not give ventilated seat option. Also cars 3-5 lacs less also are giving wireless car play etc. wish Honda would have included these at least as an optional pack.
According to me, considering it's proper hybrid unlike ciaz wannabe hybrid, it delivers almost similar fuel efficiency when we compare with ciaz. I was expecting around 30kmpl from proper hybrids when cars like ciaz can give 20kmpl and then we are paying premium.
One more trick to save fuel.. Buy used honda city with 10 lakh limit..very good unit will get with that amount.. Remaining 10 lakh put in fd.. With that interest put petrol.. This interest money is ur additional milage..every month u will receive 5k as interest.. If you travel 1000 km in a month.. U need 66LT with 15kmpl..44 LT u got from interest.. Remaining 22 LT from ur pocket.. Which translates to 45 milage.. With 2000 km per month the milage will come to 22 kmpl..
Wtf 22 lacs ex showroom price? No one will buy this😂99% people have budget have 10 to 15 lacs in india..Honda india ceos should survey the market first
UPDATE! The Honda City e:HEV has been launched for Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). What do you think of the price?
My Prediction Was Above 22 Lakhs But 19.49 Is Worth It !
Way too pricey! I would rather pick any car with a diesel engine and save half the money for a Thailand visit ;)
It's costly
Very high
At current petrol price of 120rs per litre, Hybrid City would take 1.1lakh kilometers to be on par with the expenses incurred when bought and driven a regular petrol honda city zx cvt variant for the same kilometers. Always Honda City is known for best in class for engineering towards engine and smoothness towards driving
Honda is all about supreme driving dynamics and new Engineering techniques. I think this is the best car know in this sedan segment
it's still the best in the segment at least in our market become number one
It should have come with at least two variants.. zx and One Without features like adas, side cams etc. and priced around 17lcs..
Perfect timing by Honda to bring this new offering... Certainly has not priced it crazily like the hybrid accord... 😁
On road will be 25 lac ? Is it worth ? They just increased the pricing for fuel efficiency
Masterpiece from Honda
As a True Honda Fanboy I feel the Happiness that this Car Doesn't have any Direct Compitition as of now in this Segment 😊😊❤️❤️ i-VTEC Kicks in Yo with that 250 NM of Torque 😊😊❤️❤️
Very well done review. Autocar India has a standard and you can tell by watching a review. I think this has been shot around the Bengaluru airport.
Exactly what I was thinking! I am subscribed to all the other automotive channels but only Autocar & Evo India do clear straight to the point reviews. Everyone else has their focus on cinematography & just complicated gags that is borderline hard to focus on what is being said.

That's the beauty of Japanese engineering.
Kudos to Honda

ICE to PHEV to EV sounds rational imo

The motor kicks in Only at Triple digit speeds is itself the biggest win for me here. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I am all for such cars...No headache of waiting for recharge but still functions like ev and optimises fuel usage. Worth buying than those crap 100% EVs.

You want the cost to increase more? For useless exterior "differentiation"?
Would be great to do a follow up video with real world economy. As that's what buyers will look for, sepcially in this model as compared to the internal combustion engine variants.

Love the Honda city! Best of all time and hope it just becomes better than before!

So the fact that it's fast and tech loaded makes it a reasonable to car buy along with it being a hybrid car ❤️
even if the "estimated 22 lac price" is _ON ROAD PRICE,_ IT is too much for a car like city.
hope this gets the same love as previous models 💗
Every car sold in India should have auto high and low beam feature.
Honda should launch the same car with an SUV body style it will be a huge hit
I watch a lot of videos regarding new car & biks launches ... But none of them explains the way Autocar does about the vehicles.

Excellent review.Hats off Honda. My only gripe is the omission of ventilated seats.
Amazing review! Perfect guide for someone who doesn’t understand cars well. Great work Autocar!

Wonderful review. Followed several review on this car but the reviewer in Autocar India is a class apart. Lucid detailing review.
This is a product of Honda's recent successful engine supplier days in F1. Challenging Mercedes is no joke; R&D at its very best !!
This red colour looks great!
Everything is good, but my doubt is will Honda continue in India? They have shut down one of their plant and currently they are using their plant near Gujarat, also they don't have any other models other than City. What is Honda's plan in India for their vehicles?
Hyundai and MG will take a decade to match Honda's current technical expertise..
Can’t wait to take up Honda India Marketing task!! It’s great product. Time to get 2 SUVs in portfolio.
For 22 lakhs, that too a petrol car, I feel this is priced at a crazy range. It will take an age to come level with the investment when there are already other cars even among Honda’s brigade itself to have closer mileage claims.

Honda has hit bulls eye with this splendid machine 💯

what is the background music playing from 11:40 to 13:54 . please reply.
10:23 Beautiful Shot
That’s why Honda City is KING OF EXECUTIVE SEDANS
I don't think people who spend 20 lakhs on a 5 seater sedan care about fuel efficiency 😂😂
Honda performance is amazing
Pls tell me below 100 speed engine will not comes into play or remains working along with motors and battery
What is the battery only range?
The way u explained is super & Easy to understand..But the car itself is super But price is on higher side.. Can't Afford it..
What is the running cost for the hybrid can we compare it with diesel model running cost?
Honda nailed it and perfect timing to launch the hybrid model. what is the overall kerb weight of the car?
Does that camera fullfills the need of dashcam
I have a 2018 V-MT iVTEC and it gives me 18-20km on highway rides with a light footed drive. So the breakeven to go for the new hybrid will still be a big IF
Excellent detailed review. Thank you.
Honda City is the coolest sedan in affordable price segment
How is city ehev different from Toyota Prius?

When can we expect a review of the new Brezza?

South India has pretty good charging stations around. You have to be specific about which part of india have very few charging stations
You should wait for the face-lift planned some point this or next year. This car.needs an upgrade. VW Vertos and Skoda Slavia are packed with those new features and excellent engines. Comon Honda
Is the battery liquid cooled?
Will we not get the rs trim in india ??????
Thank you for the video. I hope you would have stated numbers of the actual economy the car gives. The question is, is fuel economy really worth of increase in cost.
Very well narrated review.
Honda and Toyota are going in the right direction - hybrid
Would like to see the how cost efficiency is to buy this vs ev cars. I’m guessing the hybrid cars are expensive in terms of maintenance. I may be wrong, but correct me.
How do you convince one to buy this instead of city diesel?
Is this RWD till ~80kmph and FWD afterwards?
In UP its on road 19laca now with discounts. Go buy and drive
Honda is good company. Truly wants to provide value to Indian customers.
What is the Battery capacity 🔋?
Final effort from Honda to survive in India
Does it come in manual transmission
Sir,Hyndai 2022 TUSCON Releace Date india sir.
Will I get hev in Jazz
What about the tank to tank Mileage ?
What is the battery size in kWh?
If Honda could have brought this with 4th gen. City & base variant of 5th gen. It would have made more sense.
Never understood why people keep the headlights on during the daytime
Will this car get Green reg. No. Plate?
With heat rising every year, ventilated seats should be available with every car.
This will turn out to be a huge blunder for Honda here in India. Non Hybrid gives a mileage of 15kmpl in city and this one is said to return 18-19kmpl.
What a joke.
Also I have Honda city diesel and I think that’s the best bet in terms of “efficiency”. I get 20-21kmpl and it cost same as CVT zx.

wish Honda would have included these at least as an optional pack.
I like everything except the boot space in this car. But still it is very good of being a hybrid
Why no one is taking about frameless auto dimming IRVM. It was there in 4th gen city and now in city i hev and its looks awesome.
Wow...you managed to find a Science teacher to review this car! :D
wish it comes in the base and mid trims
Well explained
They should get one in base v variant too.

Wtf 22 lacs ex showroom price? No one will buy this😂99% people have budget have 10 to 15 lacs in india..Honda india ceos should survey the market first
it's a shame that this car didn't come in the RS trim like the international version of it.
What about the km range?
If Honda introduce this car with cng option it will creat turning point for Honda and Indian automobile sector
Hybrid has the right balance between a petrol vehicle and an EV.
Please launch hybrid sedans like accord
Honda should get the city hatchback and add same EHEV in WRV
