I am defiantly interested in this grapple rig. We have similar machinery and our choice of John Deere is obvious. One thing you might want to consider for you JD 4044 is the Woodland Mills WC68 PTO driven wood chipper. I have recently purchased one and its great. Been enjoying your TH-cam channel
    Thanks

Thank you for watching! I agree, a chipper would be really nice. I’ve also been considering a mulching head for the excavator. I’m tired of packing and burning brush…

I’m curious as to your thoughts on a canopy model mini excavator? The benefits of an enclosed cab are obvious, but I’m wondering what your thoughts are now that you’ve put on some hours in the woods with your machine. I’m an arborist, so my application is somewhat similar. Thanks for sharing!

Hello, thanks for watching. For me the cab is the best choice. It adds an extra level of protection from limbs and flying debris. In my opinion the full cab really is a worthwhile investment.

I think you've used that excavator before.

What are your thoughts on this type of grapple vs ones like the robo tech or what ever it’s called.. the ones that don’t kind of swing freely. What’s the benefit to having this grapple.

This grapple is more like a traditional log grapple so it allows for swinging and tailing logs. It’s a lot easier to use in tight spaces because the head has play in it. It’s also far less expensive than a robo tech grapples.
