I reminisce the name of people and friends but i don't like to visit any cemetery it just puts me back into a memory which i get all tore up from missing the presence of that person and their life.

Years ago I sat stunned while watching this movie for the first time. I felt I'd made a huge mistake moving back to my rural hometown to work where honestly; my grandfather and dad had been president of a small community bank. I loved the story so well I got Jimmy's address (from one of those public Hollywood address books) and wrote to tell him how much it meant to me. He actually wrote back...a personalized card which he composed a few sentences and signed. I'll keep it til I die.
If you watch it several times you'll see something new each time. Brilliant screenplay.
One more thought few ppl know about. The cab driver and policeman that were in several scenes were named Bert and Ernie, which was where the names for the two Sesame Street show puppets came from.

Frank Capra loved the sound accident so much, he left it in the movie and gave the extra a raise. One of the best movies period of all-time, not just a Christmas classic! I believe that the actresses who portrayed Janie and Zuzu, George and Mary Bailey's daughter's, are the only cast members still with us. BTW, Mr. Gower's son died of influenza, not in WWII. That was later in the movie as George was 4-F due to his deaf ear while his brother Harry became a war hero. Fun fact, the scene where George angrily drops the phone and declares his love for Mary much to her mother's dismay, was shot in one take. Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed actually left out about 2 pages of dialogue from the original script, but Frank Capra liked the result so much that he kept it as is as the final cut! Also, the characters Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street were named after Bert the cop (Ward Bond) and Ernie the cab driver (Frank Faylen) in It's A Wonderful Life:-)

My all time favorite Christmas movies !!! Before my Dad passed away , I was the daughter who did all his decorating and undecorating every holiday ..including the week after he died January 9th , took down all his decorations knowing it was the last time I couod do that for him. I was 5 mths pregnant w a very risk pregnancy too . Anyways , every year it took me weeks to decorate and we always shared the movie together
In fact, the day he died unexpectedly, I was in a store and found an ornament that was a pair of Angel wings and tiny bell on it with the famous line about it. I bought it to bring my dad. He never even got to see it. Hours later, he died and now I hold that cheap little ornament so dear to me. I hang that ornament every year FIRST and say the famous line. Knowing I have a very special angel that watches over me, still decorating with alot of my dads treasures too. Friends and family are always amazed by my decorating skills and how my Dad surely can see my heavily lit tree from Heaven and I know he is proud of me.
Hard for me to watch the movie still cause it still makes m cry remembering our special moments together. Dad has been gone 20 years soon and I miss him more and more every year ❤...

This is a very well done commentary. Jimmy Stewart served in the army air Corp and wound up a brigadier general in the Air Force reserve. He flew the B17 in ww2 He was a great actor. A great patriot. The cast was terrific as all frank Capra movies were A comment about the various grave markers that they are not holding up well they are hard to read. And they seem to be made out of metal. Corroding The best material for these type markers is granite. Marble and metal do not seem to hold up well. Granite lasts for a very long time.

My favorite scenes are when Mary Hatch, as a girl, whispers her evermore affection to young George... in his bad ear! Also the phone scene with George and Mary when they were both absolutely bursting and then ultimately just couldn't contain declaring their love for each other. Of course the whole ending has one impassioned, poignant chestnut after another. James Stewart's nuanced look right after his brother's toast to him is the sign of a brilliant actor. Just the way that George and Mary look at each other in those ending scenes. So beautifully executed. The whole movie is, to me, a cinematic "oil painting."

Charles Lane is in a scene, as a man explaining to Mr Potter how his rental income is down because many of his former tenants are buying homes thanks to the Bailey Building and Loan. He leaves saying he expects to be applying for a job with George Bailey at some time in the future. It my be unrealistic as Hell, but that was a very badass scene.
