  • In this video tour, I visit the grave sites of the cast of The Addams Family TV show from the 1960s, and others.
    I find actress Carolyn Jones' grave site crypt at the Melrose Abbey Memorial Park in Anaheim, California. Jones played Morticia Addams. At this cemetery, I also discover the grave sites of 1932 Olympic athlete Dallas Bixler and character actor Robert Dudley.
    Actor Jackie Coogan, who played Uncle Fester, is buried at Holy Cross Mortuary in Culver City.
    Former child actor Ken Weatherwax was cremated and his ashes are interred in a niche at Valhalla Memorial Park, in North Hollywood. Weatherwax played Pugsly Addams.
    Actress Blossom MacDonald Rock's grave is located at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. Rock played Grandmama.
    Last, but not least, actor Ted Cassidy, who played Lurch, was cremated and his ashes were reportedly scattered. He doesn't have a final resting place to visit, but he hasn't been forgotten.

    I had big crush on Carolyn Jones as a child watching reruns of the Addams Family after school right up threw high school. She looked so good in that black dress! She was very pretty. I find it hard to believe that today, I am older than she was when she passed of cancer. There remains a soft spot in my heart for her.

      Hi Sonny, it is surreal when you realize you are older than some of the people you watched on TV, as a kid, and who are now dead. I've thought about that myself, before. Thanks for sharing.

    Very interesting info on these stars of yesterday, thank you! Carolyn Jones died at the young age of 53 from colon cancer. She fought many years but in the end it took her. I remember she had a role in a soap opera near the end. Her health was declining so the matriarch she played started using a wheelchair so that Carolyn could play her scenes sitting down. She was a beautiful and courageous woman.

    It might be interesting for fans to note that "Thing" was played *mostly* by Ted Cassidy. He often used opposite hands (to see if anyone noticed), and this created what would be referred to today as "continuity issues".
    In scenes where Ted and Thing had to appear together, Thing was played by assistant director Jack Voglin.

    I'm so pleased that you found "Doc Dudley's" grave! I came to watch your video and view the final resting places of the beloved Addams Family cast and received an added bonus that I never expected. I looked for Robert Dudley's grave 20 some years ago on a trip to California but never could locate it's exact coordinates. Robert T. Dudley was born in Ohio in 1869 and later attend school in Illinois (my home State) to become a dentist before transitioning to life as an actor. His first film appearance was in 1917 and over his almost 40 year career as an actor he appeared in at least 115 films. His last movie appearance was only 4 years before his demise and was appropriately entitled "As Young as You Feel."
    Robert died at the age of 86, two days after his birthday leaving behind a large body of work. Not all people will recognize his name but many will certainly recall his face.
    Thanks so much for sharing this video with us.

    • @TheGraveyardChannel
      @TheGraveyardChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Timothy, thanks, so much, for sharing this info about Dudley. I especially enjoy finding the graves of people like Dudley, who sometimes get lost of forgotten over time. Did you have a personal connection with him or his family or are you just a fan?

    • @timothypruitt9028
      @timothypruitt9028 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      My grandfather met him on two occasions and I never heard the end of it. Once in the late 1930s at a theater in Indianapolis, IN and once again on a train to Chicago in the mid 1940s or early 1950s.
      My grandfather passed away 6 years ago at the age of 94 and he would always speak of "Doc Dudley" as if they were old friends. So, 20 odd years ago when we went to California to visit my great uncle in Bel-Air we went looking for "Doc Dudley's" grave at Melrose Abbey but never located it. As I recall there was an unusually large storm that day that prevented us from looking as well as we could have.
      That is my or rather, my grandfather's personal connection to "Doc Dudley." Thank you for finding his grave. I had seen photographs of it but never an actual video of it. Now, if I ever make it back out there I will know exactly where to locate it.

    One of my favorite activities, while I lived in Hollywood, was the cemeteries. I spent hours upon hours walking through all of them during that decade. It has been a long time since then, but it is so nice to see how much some of these parks have changed for the better than when I lived out there.

    Great video! I'm a huge Addams family fan. Talking about Carolyn's marriage with Aaron spelling, they ended that marriage so well, that they both hired the same lawyer for the divorce, and keep a solid friendship through the later years. In fact Aaron invited Carolyn to perform in his shows, she performed in the fantasy island and love boat both shows are spelling productions. In my opinion that is amazing, because we know divorce people most part of the time hate each other but not in this case!

    This, as well as all your videos are fascinating.I began working in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx,NY in 1973 when I was 16 years old so I can relate to what you do.Woodlawn is historical and a iconic landmark to say the least.I,like you say you never know who and what you're gonna find.My mom and dad are interred there now and after all these years I still find out things I never knew.The beautiful, massive and historic mausoleums alone are worth the visit if you're ever in NY.To the North we also have Gate Of Heaven Cemetery which has the likes of Babe Ruth,Billy Martin & James Cagney among others.Not to mention that Lou Gehrig is buried right across the street in Kensico Cemetery which is almost joined with Gate Of Heaven.Neither cemetery is as historical or famous as Woodlawn but both are beautiful nonetheless.I've been frequenting Woodlawn for many years and live less than 3 miles away.No matter how much I think I know about it,I always find out something new each and every time I visit.
    Thanks for all these videos.You do a AMAZING job with all the info and trips down memory lane but most of all for keeping everyone's memory alive and well.God Bless you and yours and Happy Holidays...Mike Maffei,Yonkers,NY.

    At work recently, I mentioned my enjoyment at visiting cemeteries and watching videos from channels like 'The Graveyard Guy' and 'Grave Explorations' to name a couple. Not one person in my office (In the city of Bristol, England) understood and before they looked back to their monitors I noticed they left me with strange looks, the looks were a mixture of astonishment and bewilderment! In my head I was left with the question - 'I know I'm clearly not on my own, but what inside me is attracted to this stuff?'
    So, why do we love it guys?

      Because we are realist. We choose to embrace the inevitable and try to learn as much about it as possible while the majority of people choose to ignore it. They like to pretend that it's never going to happen to them because dying is a horrible thing in their mind. In there opinion anyone who is interested in it must be crazy. But for us, dying is real, natural and nothing to be frightened of. Sure we all want to live as long a life as possible, but we know that death will come eventually and who knows what adventure it could lead us on when it finally does.

      Well I love cematarys & how it's nice to see that folks are still remembered. Also get some really good EVPs at them.
      One EVP was a woman sounding like she was English saying;" I can't find me grave! Where's me grave?" I got this in the day time across the street from the Couthouse from the 1850's. Found out there used to be a church there with a big grave yard.
      Today there are only a few markers left & that they were soposed to move the bodies & headstones somewhere else but I think only the headstones were taken away. Where the road is now & some buildings is where part of the cematary once was. Maybe that's why the woman's sprite couldn't find her headstone.
