Carrol O'Connor was a tremendous actor, I grew up watching All In the Family and then years later my kids watched him as Chief Gillespie on In The Heat of the Night. So tragic with his son Hugh, talented young man. May they all Rest in Peace.
Poor Anissa Jones ..broke my heart when she died ..and she had it rough after family affair ,,I hope she is at peace and feeling loved in heaven
She was cremated and her ashes were scattered at sea
She doesnt exist anymore dude...no worries, no fears....she's gone

My dad back in the 60s would take us to the cemetery his first wife is buried at. While we were there he had us tend to the graves of war veterans. The respect that was taught by my dad carried over into me being interested in final resting places of the deceased. Your channel is fascinating but some of us thought maybe it was odd to be interested in this. You and others have made it clear that we are not odd after all.
I think it's odd when people are not interested in cemeteries :-) They're missing out on all of the art, history, stories, memories and beauty. You were lucky to have such a great dad. Thanks for sharing your personal story with us, and for tending to those graves, Hugh!
I'm 67 years old. I remember, as a very young girl, visiting cemeteries to tidy up the graves and place flowers for my family's deceased relatives. Mom packed a lunch, and it was quite a day. I loved learning about my family in this way, and it brought on a lifelong love of genealogy and learning about where I came from. We are all a little piece of those who have passed before us. ---All of this came from eating a peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich while listening to Mom talk about what an amazing woman Grandma Alice was! Thanks for taking me places where I can't go on my own. Bless you!

When I grew up my family in east Texas & western Louisanna had what was called " Graveyard Working". Every Sept On the 3rd weekend of the month we gathered in our family church cemetary's and had a work day on Saturday when we cleaned the cemetary and the grave stones & on Sunday we had a church service and what amounted to " Dinner on the grounds". Or in other words a large family & community reunion. It was a wonderful time of remembrance and fellowship. I wish we still had that it was a wonderful yearly getogather..
Our family use to do the same! Usually the weekend before Memorial Day we all piled in the car and "decorated" the graves.
I always felt weird that I was so interested in graves, but you made me realise I'm perfectly 'normal' 👍🏻

I have always found cemeteries fascinating places to visit! My late wife and I visited Westwood Village Cemetery back in '92.
The Graveyard Guy It’s always have been interesting to me. I never thought of it that way.

There have been times I had a couple hours to kill. I just happen to be in the vicinity of a cemetery. I've gotten out and taken a stroll just reading the markers. Sometimes I'll wonder to myself what happened. Its a very peaceful place to think that's for sure.
My Mom passed last week at the esteemed age of 94. She is resting in a beautiful chapel mausoleum.

I am strangely interested in headstones myself. I thought I was weird too. I live near Woodlawn Cemetery in New York. Famous people are buried there too.

"Edward Habib, 83, of Los Angeles, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his two nieces Cynthia and Rebecca and also his great-nephew Joseph. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was one of 14 siblings and served two years in the army. He moved to Los Angeles County in 1963 and was the VP of publishing and recording at Stanyon Records for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his partner, Rod McKuen. He is survived by his three cats, Buddy, Clint and Boots; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to ASPCA. He will be laid to rest at 2:00pm on Friday, May 18, 2018."

Cool; thanks for this video tour. I will actually be buried in this very cemetery with my sister. Our parents are buried there, and my sister wanted to be buried in the same place as them, but now they only sell double sites for the in-ground burials, so my sister bought two and gifted me the other.
What a large and great group you showed us today! I loved them all, and I love Jean Stapelton in "You've Got Mail". I cannot tell you how many times I have seen it, because I love the whole cast!! TY for showing us your pics!! There is a Vets cemetery in our city, so my Husband and I will be cremated, and placed there.
Being in the UK, I only know Sebastian Cabot from his voice over work - being the narrator in both Winnie the Pooh and Sword in the Stone, and as the voice of Bagheera in the Jungle Book

@@TheGraveyardChannel I saw an article in the San Diego Tribune that Sebastian Cabot lived in Victoria Canada which was published in 1969.
When was a young kid my step father had a fine established British pub that also served delicious food especially tan & dark beer batter fish and chips in Santa Monica California. You could smell the wonderful aroma miles away easily. Sebastian Cabot ate there quite often. He did not like eating by himself and my Pop asked him if I could eat my food with him and it became a friendship I will always remember. A jolly good soul and a gentleman...Rest in Peace, my old friend...
@@drydesert8036 Sebastian Cabot spent his time living in Saanich, a town located near Victoria, British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 when not filming Family Affair or other projects. He did voice-over work for Disney Studios The Jungle Book and The narrator of Winnie the Pooh and documentaries.
Carroll O'Connor was also on the show in the "In The Heat of the Night" as the chief police officer as well

Poor Brian Keith. Terminal cancer, financial troubles and the death of his daughter Daisy was just to much for him. He wanted to be with his Daisy again and wrote a note saying so before he took his life. Bittersweet is my reaction to that.

Actually, when Mom and later Dad died, they were cremated and put in the same niche (and urn). My husband and I purchased the niche beneath theirs and will be placed there when the time comes. The unique thing about the niches is they are covered with clear plexiglass and you can see the urns and whatever else the family wants to include. We put in some keepsakes and a couple of pictures including a wedding picture.
I always enjoy seeing those mimi life stories within the glass covered niches. Thanks for sharing the memory of your mom and dad with us, Smokey!
While you are visiting grave yards think of how many sprites are watching you.👀 They know that you are very kind and respectful and I bet you make them smile when you stop by and say "Hi" at their graves.

@@julienielsen3746 Mildred was her name and was Ida Morganstern on Rhoda. Nancy Walker died of cancer in 1992. She was cremated and her ashes were scattered at sea.
Nancy Walker also played Rhoda’s mother on Mary Tyler Moore, and Harold Gould played Rhoda’s father

I just found your channel and find it interesting. Ever since I was a kid one of my hobbies was walking around cemeteries reading the headstones trying to imangine what kind of life they had. I always thought I was strange for doing this but enjoyed it so. This make me feel normal lol!

Thank you for showing me the final resting place who was the star of " All in the family " tv sitcom. I remember it well seeing the show here in the UK on our BBC. What you may not be aware of Allin the family is actually based on a British tv sitcom named Till death us do part starring a well known character actor Warren Mitchell, his son in this tv sitcom was played by actor Anthony Booth who was the brother of Cherie Blair wife of British ex prime minister Tony Blair.
I'm sure if you were to look it up on Google you will be able to discover a lot more...... Cheers from the UK.

When I watched the first episode of "All in the Family" I was at a friend's house when I was staying overnight. Mom had tried to explain that the man in the show was like my dad. I was 10 at the time. After I talked my friend into watching it, her oldest sister who was studying to be a nurse, came into the room and started watching it. My friend told me she had never seen her sister laugh so hard. - I enjoyed watching with my family even when I didn't understand some of it. I still enjoy watching it.
Rod McKuen was one of my favorite poets. Had a lot of his books. Saw him in concert. Thanks Steve.

I have always felt I was swapped at the hospital, left by aliens, or something else. My home, my life is with my wife and our child. With them I wish to rest for eternity.

What can I say, what a large and great group today! I loved all of them, but Jean Stapelton was great in "You've Got Mail." I cannot tell you how many times I have seen it, because I also love all the other actors!! That is a great group too. Love the pics from your youth!! My mom is buried, my dad was cremated. My mom's parents are not buried together, my mom's brother is buried at another cemetery, My late husband is buried out here in Indiana, his mom is buried in Mexico. I worked with a gentleman who loved Marilyn Monroe and he would bring me along on our lunch hour to “visit “ her here. I am sure things have changed a lot since then and I would love to check it out again some day. I am a third generation San Fernando valley girl so I love the visits you make that are close to home.

Beautiful!!! Your videos really bring back so many memories. When I was growing up "All in the Family" was the one show my family all bonded over. Like you said about you and your grandmother, the characters were relatable to different people for different reasons. In so many ways, I think that show helped smooth out the tensions left over from the late 60's by showing that we're all human beings. Thanks again for the memories! 😊😊

Just discovered your very interesting video and I’m definitely hooked! I think some people are afraid of the finality of death but seeing these famous people’s plots is a great way of connecting with those who have touched us with their art. No matter what decade, these folks left an indelible mark on us and also to the history of entertainment. Great job!

Back in '92, while on a trip to L.A., my lovely wife and I visited Westwood Village Cemetery. It is small, cozy and sorta hard to find. While we were wondering around looking for the place, a homeless guy waved us down and directed us in. He had seen us looking and like many others, figured that is where we were looking for. I slipped him a $10 for his help. I haven't been back out since then, but we were especially looking for Marilyn Monroe's crypt. I was reading a book about 'Secret Hollywood' back then. And the author of the book, mentioned that Marilyn's crypt, mysteriously had fresh roses delivered 2 times a week. It was thought that Joe DiMaggio was responsible for the flowers. We went first on a Monday and again that Friday and both times, the crypt had fresh roses. Also, as you can see in this film, Marilyn's crypt looks 'shiny'. That is actually oils from the hands of her fans that visit. Seems like they rub their hands all over her crypt and that is the result. Also, there were fresh lipstick kisses on the marble crypt too!. My wife freshened up her bright red lip gloss and left her lip print too! The book stated that Huge Hefner had purchased the crypt above Marilyn, so that he could spend eternity "on top of" Marilyn, but, I see that he is entombed beside of her. Thats better, I think. You didn't mention that the beautiful Natalie Wood, is buried in the ground, just feet away from Marilyn. Very interesting place to visit, if you get the chance. Thanks Graveyard Guy! I know, three suicides and a murder, in one cemetery visit. Very sad. Especially for a video about families. I'm guessing you never had long hair growing up? Especially since you were a military man and too young to have been a hippy :-)
@@TheGraveyardChannel Oh no I had much longer hair than your pictures. Shoulder blade level. I had the longest hair when we got it cut. Then I rubbed my head for days and said maybe I didn't make the right decision.

Some of my favorite people in this cemetery is Dean.Martin who I consider was one of the greatest Singers. Actors and Entertainers of my all time and Don Knots who I thought was one the funniest guys. I still watch The Andy Griffith Show when I get the chance So many great Actors. Singers .and entertainers are gone now RIP Dino and Don

What a sweet and passionate video. Of course you know my favorite poet, song writer, and author is Rod McKuen. I have been to many of his concerts and have met him many times. He always sang my favorite McKuen song to me--April People .My birthday is April 28----his April 29th. He wrote songs for many stars. He was very instrumental for the downfall of the hatred campaign of Anita Bryant. I am certain that Habib McKuen was his companion. I was visiting cemeteries all day yesterday and I'm just now getting to my comments. I did this one for you. And I didn't know about Taylor's parents. I assumed they were with her. I've been in the Sanctuary of Peace niche courtyard many times, but didn't know they were there. Thank you so much for telling me!!! I will visit them the next time I'm there. Despite being a very small cemetery, Westwood Village has so many celebrities there. I visited 2 years ago and I'm so sorry I didn't realize that then. Farrah Fawcett, Natalie Wood, Paul Gleason, Doris Roberts, Peter Falk, James Coburn (who I went to see), Rodney Dangerfield, George C Scott, Don Knots, Louis Jordan, Mel Torme, Christopher George and so many more. I could go on. Thanks for another great video. If I had my way I would join you in your tours. This is my dream job to do. Lucky you!!

I had her and a Flip Wilson doll. One side was Flip Wilson and when you turned it over it was Geraldine.It had a pull string and the doll would have a voice box inside of it. The Flip Wilson doll I believe is worth a little bit these days. I loved watching Family Affair. Great Show !!!
I LOVED my Mrs. Beasley too! I always wanted Bill Davis to be my dad. I thought Buffy was so lucky because he obviously loved her very much.
Sounds silly perhaps but I find a part of me still mourns Brian Keith & Anissa Jones. Anissa was not loved very much by her mom & was basically a paycheck. Anissa did love her brother, who died a few short years after her. I believe drugs were involved in his death as well.
@@ladypearl9134 I read a book about the life of Anissa Jones. It was tragic she had been exploited by Hollywood. My former girlfriend still has her Mrs Beasley doll.

I appreciate you doing these. Especially involving entertainment from the 50's-60's-70's era. Simply because you, just like me were there in those decades. To put it mildly, I find it boring when a millennial visits grave sites bragging about how they remember growing up watching re-runs of shows like the Monkees and Gilligan's Isle on the Nickelodeon channel. Yeah, as if these shows were their "coming of age" influences. Sheesh, these TV series weren't even talking to that generation.
I know what you mean, but isn't great that some of these shows and people are timeless and will be around entertaining generation after generation? When I visited the Stooges and met dads visiting the Stooges graves with their kids, it was really cool to see them being passed down from one generation to the next. We'll always know we were there first, though. Actually, with the Stooges, we were probably the 2nd generation :-) Thanks for sharing, RNRD!
I understand what you're saying. But, unlike taking Jr to a Bob Dylan or The Rolling Stones concert it's different than a 32 year old saying how the Monkees 2 year run (66-68) on TV influenced him. The Thee Stooges made movies in the 50's-60's all the way into the 1970's so they over lapped our generation.
My family has a large section of a rural cemetery located on land my great great grandfather donated to the early pioneers in the area. I left the area 30 years ago and now live in Nevada which I call home. Home is where the heart is and where my ashes will be scattered off a cliff into Death Valley. On another note I saw where Sandra Lockhart passed away in early November, I think she was buried in Westwood Village, Ca..
Death Valley would be a great place to be scattered! Someone else mentioned Sondra. Her findagrave.com memorial page says she was cremated and ashes given to family. Thanks, Dwight!

When the time comes for me, I'll be buried in a small rural cemetery located on the Ohio/Indiana state line, next to my parents. I'll be the sixth generation in a direct line of descent to be buried there. My parents, grandparents, great grandparents, 2x great grandparents, and 3x great grandparents are all buried there in that small cemetery! The earliest ones came to America from a small village in Alsace, France in 1850. I love history, especially my own!

I have six generations as well. My nephew died unexpectedly a couple of years ago so he's the start of the sixth. My sister and I are buying plots behind ours to start a new family row. No more plots for sale in our row. My parents were into geneology. Only hobby they ever shared. They have both passed.
That's really great that you have so many generations of family buried together Most of all our families came from Europe Mine came from Norway. Germany. and England

When I had a job cleaning RVs, in the headboard I found a box of someone's ashes. When my mother & I were cleaning her back portch my mom took a box from my hand and said not to throw my step sister out. OPPS!
Valery was very nice & kind. I'd never thought of her as a 'step' sister.
If my mother's ashes hadn't been stolen by my other STEP- sister I would have had some of her ashes made into a ring. Maybe one day that might still happen.

@@TheGraveyardChannel There has been mourning jewelry around for a long time. This lady had a small shop & had all kinds of that kind of jewelry & most was creepy with the jewelry made with dead folks hair. Some people wear little containers around their necks.
I had a silver morning necklace from the 1860s & sold it to a lady playing the wife of General Grant while being a reinactor.
Everyone in my immediate family has been cremated including my husband. I currently have my husband's ashes in a beautiful urn in the formal living room of my house. It brings me great comfort knowing that he is close along with our pets. My pets are cremated and in my home office. ❤✝
I enjoy these videos. You treat the subjects with great respect. By the way, Richard Dawson did not host Family Feud as long as you mentioned. There was an interim of about eight or nine years when he was not the host.

All in the family is one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately today, a show like that could never exist because it's not PC and will offend people. Same with another one of my favorite spin offs.. The Jefferson's. People today have lost their sense of humor.

It was a thrill to meet Brian decades ago at the 4 embassadors hotel in miami he actually sat with me in the lobby I was a teenager and he spoke to me about after the show sissy Jodi Buffy he was such a nice man so kind it is one of my good memories
Great vlog! Thanks for sharing and showing me the graves of actors and actresses that I grew up with. Anissa Jones ashes were spread in the Pacific Ocean in Playa Del Rey by her mother and brother. Sadly Anissa had no funeral. No cast mates from Family Affair was invited or allowed to attend.

When I leave this earth, I'll be buried up in Kansas with the family; next to my mother and father and at the head of grandparents on Doyle side and one of my Uncles that had died as a child. In the same cemetery is where my grandparents on my mother's side and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins all buried there. I was born here in Tulsa and had spent many of summers with my grandparents on my mother's side. There are two cemeteries in Iola, Kansas and have family members buried in both cemeteries. Both cemeteries are very well kept up, since they are owned by the city.

I love how the cemeteries over there are cared for and treated with respect. We have a cemetery over here in Australia that is removing headstones from graves and any above ground signs of the grave to squeeze another grave in between graves Husband and wives may no longer be next to each other Some of these graves are only dating back to the 1970s And some are our WW1 and WW2 heroes

It was interesting to see Rod McKuen's memorial. As a graduate student at GWU, I attended one of his concerts at the Constitution Hall in Washington DC. That was my introduction to the contemporary American poetry.
