I think one thing you didn't really mention is Amethyst being one of the cheapest - if not the cheapest - ink color to make a deck with. The most expensive staple is probably Mim Fox, and even she isn't that expensive compared to other colors. (in addition to being able to recycle the merlin/mims for multiple decks)
