Thanks for the video! My favorite card so far is Maui because of how powerful he is. Even though I started with the Sapphire and Steel starter deck. Excited to build more decks and find awesome combos!
I am not that big fan of Disney myself, but I cant' deny that the flavour of the game is there. Like how "draw" is meant as in drawing a card from the top of your deck, but also drawing a picture and because you just drew/inked the card, it needs a turn for it to dry before it can be used. That is wonderful stuff! Now that Magic has less flavour and is taking a shotgun approach both to franchising and world design muddeling their universe, I could see players more into Disney than myself be sold on the fun flavour alone.
You are reading way too much into it. The designers did not choose a card game format (over a boardgame format) so they could achieve a double meaning for "drawing" a card. Expand your horizons with modern card games and boardgames, and you'll see how ordinary this game is.
So when you're sending cards on a quest. Do they immediately collect lore? To me it makes sense that it would happen on the following turn as soon as I ready them. Basically allowing the other player to counter attack what's questing and I would only collect lore from whoever survived their quest.
If Star Wars Unlimited wasn't coming out I may have looked into this. But SW Unlimited is so much more interesting to me. But I'm glad this is out as it will get new people into the hobby which is always a good thing.

It also takes some design cues from other card games, such as persistant damage from Hearthstone or Pokemon, and "Evolution" from Pokemon. The "harvesting" mechanic is also reminicant of Keyforge. One thing I wish they had taken from MTG is instant speed interaction, as that's one of my favorite things about it.

So what cards do you put in play and why and where do the other cards go on the table? How many cards do you draw, and where do you put them? We were following along great until this point.
So at the start of your turn you draw one card and add it to cards in your hand. The cards you play will either be placed face down at the bottom as ink or played above that and face up as the characters and items you'll have in play. Or if you play a song or action you show it, do what the cards says and then place it in the discard pile next to your deck. Which cards you decide to play is very much up to you and what's happening in the game. If you're unsure just start adding characters to your table and after a few games you'll learn what cards are best to play when! I hope that helps, but let us know if you need any more clarification 😊
Forgive me if I didn't see or understand this. Once a card is in the inkwell it has to stay there, correct? So you would have to think carefully on which cards you put there?
So it's Magic and Pokemon love child. I like it. Now, 2 questions: Are the cards standard sized? Where can I get 200 Elsa sleeves for My Commander decks?
I still don't understand the cost of ink. Example: I have 6 ink in my inkwell. I play a new character card which costs 3. Then next turn, ink is dry, I want to use that character card. Am I correct in my understanding that every time I use that character to quest or challenge it cost 3 ink?
No, from my understanding the ink cost is paid to summon or play the character or actions and then when you challenge or quest you don’t have to pay anything you just distribute damage of challenging or Lore of questing
LBF it's Disney Magic the Gathering. The same issue has happened with these cards that make MtG difficulty for people with visual impairments.....the text is tiny.

In your video, I think all of your cards are placed into sturdy sleeves, is that correct? Should I put our cards into sleeves to protect them? I would think they would fling out? What kind is in the video?
Sleeves protect cards from getting bent when playing or getting grubby from eating snacks so are helpful but not a necessity! The sleeves in this video are the official Lorcana ones that you should be able to pick up wherever you buy cards but generic sleeves are sold across all tabletop shops!
Looks interesing. I like that fact that you can use your characters as an energy to cast other cards, no mana cards in your deck needed as in MTG. That brings me to a question tho. The characters you use as an ink, they stay that way for the rest of the game, or can you take them back to your hand or swap them with a different character ?
You discard from your hand to your discard pile. Ransack says you draw two cards and THEN discard two cards so if you have no cards in your hand when you play it you'll have to immediately discard the two cards you drew
Game could also improve diversity by being less restrictive to only two ink colors. Even just letting one more so a total of three just changes the dynamic of the game rather well combo wise.
Hello! Thank you for the detailed video! It helps a lot! Altough I have a question, i don’t know if its stupid: Can we shuffle the deck with another type set of cards like: the deck contains the first chapters cards and into the inklands cards? 🤔
Hi! two questions: are we able to summon more than one character at one time if we have the available ink? and...can we use more than 1 character to challenge an opponent character and/or characters? hope this makes sense. thanks in advance!
Yes! If you have the ink you can summon as many characters as you like. And yes again, you can an challenge opponent's character with multiple characters to bring down extra tough ones. Hope you have fun playing!
you place the shifted card on top of the original and it "turns into" that new card. It also means that the now shifted card takes on all the properties of the previous one. It has the same amount of damage, if it's ink was dry then the shifted card's ink is dry now too etc. If something causes the card to leave play like being banished or put back in your hand, they both go to that new location together! Hope this helps :)
I don’t care for Disney or tcgs but pulled an enchanted when I bought 6 blister packs from Target. Now I continue to buy a few packs here and there just to keep testing my luck… 😂
nobody explains what questing is they just say they can quest if they want. so do they get lore on the next upkeep or is it instant? i need magic terms explination lol
Questing just means turning the card into the exerted position and instantly gaining the amount of lore listed on the card! We go into full details at 12:14 in the video. To put it in magic terms if a character has one lore pip, they have the ability tap: add one lore.
I've watched this like 3 times. How you go from "you can play with this many players the rules will be the same " to "your ready characters and already set characters xyz" like a major skip happened
Great video. Going to play Lorcana this weekend and come from a MTG background. I have a small question. If you have exerted a character to quest for example, and in the same turn you play a card that technically untaps the exerted character, can you then use that same character to exert again but this time to challenge your opponent? Maybe a simple question but wanted to make sure. thanks!
Yes you absolutely can! Most ready up card specify that the character can't quest for the rest of the turn but that doesn't stop them doing anything else! So they can challenge, sing a song card, use their exert abilities like The Queen's draw a card ability or whatever you want really!
The part where pascal is challeneged is wrong ? Pascal can only be challenged by evasive characters and aurora is not evasive so pascal wonf be banished

Revealed then cant be played again. Unless there is a card that states otherwise. No cards in this set have that ability quite yet

Hello! Thank you for the detailed video! It helps a lot! Altough I have a question, i don’t know if its stupid: Can we shuffle the deck with another type set of cards like: the deck contains the first chapters cards and into the inklands cards? 🤔
Yes, you can absolutely use cards from any of the sets when building a deck!
@@dicebreaker Thank you!
Hi! two questions: are we able to summon more than one character at one time if we have the available ink? and...can we use more than 1 character to challenge an opponent character and/or characters? hope this makes sense. thanks in advance!
Yes! If you have the ink you can summon as many characters as you like. And yes again, you can an challenge opponent's character with multiple characters to bring down extra tough ones. Hope you have fun playing!
thanks!!!!@@dicebreaker
QQ: does using the shift ability cause tue card with shift to replace the card without?
you place the shifted card on top of the original and it "turns into" that new card. It also means that the now shifted card takes on all the properties of the previous one. It has the same amount of damage, if it's ink was dry then the shifted card's ink is dry now too etc. If something causes the card to leave play like being banished or put back in your hand, they both go to that new location together!
Hope this helps :)
I am a Disnerd to the tee and a collector but this is a very dangerous combo. I am too invested in another TCG to start collecting another one.
I don’t care for Disney or tcgs but pulled an enchanted when I bought 6 blister packs from Target. Now I continue to buy a few packs here and there just to keep testing my luck… 😂
So it’s basically Villainous but as a TCG?
nobody explains what questing is they just say they can quest if they want. so do they get lore on the next upkeep or is it instant? i need magic terms explination lol
Questing just means turning the card into the exerted position and instantly gaining the amount of lore listed on the card! We go into full details at 12:14 in the video.
To put it in magic terms if a character has one lore pip, they have the ability tap: add one lore.
thanks :)@@dicebreaker
Fantastic dialect !!
My favorite play style in any game is to try to drawer as many codds as possible. Looking for codds with high law value. 😜😁
Does an assist give both his strength and shield or just his strength?
Support only adds strength! Not the willpower (shield)
Good job explaining the game!
Love the video ❤
