Slight correction: In the visual example of challenging we added some other characters to the enemy boardstate (to visualise that Pascal was exerted) and forgot that would give Pascal Evasive which wouldn't let Aurora challenge him. Imsoni played a sealed event at my LGS this Saturday morning. A player I was playing against misplayed pascal. He said that he only gains evasiveness when another character card with evasiveness is in play. But it doesn't matter if another character card has evasiveness or not I guess since that's what the card says?
@@burningbelow4424Half right. Pascal only gain’s evasive when there’s another character in play. Pascal loses the ability if the other cards have been banished before it or if it’s by itself.
For anyone thinking about getting this I wanted to share. I bought this hoping to get my lady and kid to finally play a TCG with me (they wouldn't touch MTG with a ten foot pole). I'm happy to say it worked! They couldnt resist the art and they learned so fast, and then this morning, my 12 year old girl heard me wake up, and before I could get out of bed, she came and asked if I would play with her! I am one happy guy over here. Almost made me cry. I also wanted to say thank you since we used this video to learn how to play, great explanation!
I finally got ahold of the 3 starter decks and some boosters yesterday. I bought this game to play with my nieces, and your video is a great help at learning the basics. Out of my 9 boosters, my last one had a copy of 'Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy'!
Excellent video for adults to learn the game. Easily digestible yet informative. After watching this once or twice, I should be able to teach the lil ones. Thank you! 🙏✨
This Game is actually pretty fun... I mostly play MTG (Commander) but sometimes it's nice to switch things up. Plus the Art Work is Amazing. Great video too.😅 ✌️
I am not that big fan of Disney myself, but I cant' deny that the flavour of the game is there. Like how "draw" is meant as in drawing a card from the top of your deck, but also drawing a picture and because you just drew/inked the card, it needs a turn for it to dry before it can be used. That is wonderful stuff! Now that Magic has less flavour and is taking a shotgun approach both to franchising and world design muddeling their universe, I could see players more into Disney than myself be sold on the fun flavour alone.
You are reading way too much into it. The designers did not choose a card game format (over a boardgame format) so they could achieve a double meaning for "drawing" a card. Expand your horizons with modern card games and boardgames, and you'll see how ordinary this game is.
It also takes some design cues from other card games, such as persistant damage from Hearthstone or Pokemon, and "Evolution" from Pokemon. The "harvesting" mechanic is also reminicant of Keyforge. One thing I wish they had taken from MTG is instant speed interaction, as that's one of my favorite things about it.
Not that similar if were talking about a much different and more stable mana system as well as "color combination" restrictions. Since this is the first set, things are pretty simply. I can only imagine that future sets will show where this game is heading and how it will differ from other TCGs.
If Star Wars Unlimited wasn't coming out I may have looked into this. But SW Unlimited is so much more interesting to me. But I'm glad this is out as it will get new people into the hobby which is always a good thing.
Just found out about this online and came across your video for beginners. One of the best intro to the game for those who are interested. Since it is Disney, hope they will have Star Wars character cards soon
Thanks for the video! My favorite card so far is Maui because of how powerful he is. Even though I started with the Sapphire and Steel starter deck. Excited to build more decks and find awesome combos!

A couple of my friends just introduced me to this tonight. I never heard of it or anything, I understand it's a new game but it seems very fun. I plan to really master this game.
i just picked up the illumineers quest (first time touching lorcana) But ive played a lot of magic the gathering. Seeing the shift ability made me think to look it up to double check as id assume if you shifted a card onto character that was dry it would be able to challenge or exert that turn. That is indeed the case but it wasnt mentioned in the video from what i heard. Makes some cards like Mulan elite archer really fun when she comes out with a buff and triple shots. havent played a game yet but were going to challenge the quest and fight ursula tonight!
I still don't understand the cost of ink. Example: I have 6 ink in my inkwell. I play a new character card which costs 3. Then next turn, ink is dry, I want to use that character card. Am I correct in my understanding that every time I use that character to quest or challenge it cost 3 ink?
No, from my understanding the ink cost is paid to summon or play the character or actions and then when you challenge or quest you don’t have to pay anything you just distribute damage of challenging or Lore of questing
I'm waiting to get my hands on a starter deck. But I feel like if this had the Disney Infinity angle where you buy cards and scan them in game more people would be playing. No one I know is talking about this.
Game could also improve diversity by being less restrictive to only two ink colors. Even just letting one more so a total of three just changes the dynamic of the game rather well combo wise.
