- Chick-fil-A has long dominated the chicken sandwich category in fast food. After Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen launched its own version of the chicken sandwich, other fast food chains like Wendy's and Shake Shack got into the battle. McDonalds is testing a new chicken sandwich in Houston and Knoxville, and analysts have predicted the fast food chain will launch its chicken sandwich sometime in 2020. Who's winning the chicken sandwich wars and what will 2020 hold?

Y’all, McDonald’s does not belong in this race
True, their patties are a mix of all kinds of chicken parts. I was surprised when I tried Popeyes; it’s actual juicy chicken breast.
It’s like not even fair to compare
Even their most expensive chicken sandwich is hot garbage compared to the most basic one at Chick Fil A.
Perhaps, but I think the McDonalds introduction in the video was necessary to compare hamburgers (beef) to chicken sandwiches and chicken consumption. It's more of an interesting narrative contrast.
Some McDonald's in other countries actually have their burgers that taste just like popeye's own burgers.
it's a sad reflection of KFC's fate that they don't even make it to the list.
Their name doesn't even have fried chicken in it anymore. It's just 3 random letters strung together.

It's fast and convenient especially if you're going there to pick up coffee as well. Why go to two different places if you're pressed for time. Plus their sandwiches, salads, and pastries are reasonably priced. They still taste decent even if they're not fresh. The Starbucks inside by building and the other 3 within a few blocks are always packed with plenty of people buying food as well. Could just be a New York thing, but I've seen it happen in San Francisco and Toronto when I was sent there for projects as well. I can't imagine Starbucks being as popular for fast food in small towns or the suburbs though. They probably focus more on drinks in those areas.

Wendy's Chicken sandwich is pretty bad. Yes, better than McDonalds, but that's not a high bar to beat. Chic-Fil-A is best IMHO. Popeyes is REALLY good but still not quite as good as CFA. Zaxby's sandwiches are good too but they're mostly just in the southeast.

It doesn't surprise me the ingredients list is that simple. It seems in every country outside the USA food vendors use real (often fresher) food for their dishes. We Americans are served salt, sugar, and high fructose corn syrup. It's all the more reason I haven't ate out in forever.

I've been eating the number 6 Spicy Chicken Sandwich Combo from Wendy's since the late 90's. I know that for a fact. It's probably been around a lot longer than 30 plus years.
I have NEVER experienced love at first sight. I never believed in it. But then I tried the Popeyes sandwich..and it was like I stared into the eyes of god.
I've only had chick fil a and thought it was the pinnacle of chicken sandwich but sad to say, I can never go back...
Plus they're open on Sundays which is when I strangely crave a sandwich
At the end of the day, a healthier alternative, a multi grain bun, and customer service will keep me as a customer of Chick Fil A.

Raising Can'e sandwich is a chicken strip sandwich. It's a different style and not something I like (KFC and Zaxby's used to do this style too). It's too annoying to eat because with it being separate pieces of chicken they fall out while you're eating unless you death grip the sandwich and ruin the bread.

Does anybody remember the last time McDonald's tried to copy Chick-Fil-A? I was working at a Chick-Fil-A in 2008 in Virginia and McDonald's introduced a carbon copy of the Chick-Fil-A sandwich that my manager brought in one their sandwiches and showed it to us and said: "This is what you DON'T do!". LOL!.
Granted, personally, I didn't think McDonald's sandwich was all that bad, but I'm not a picky eater, but it wasn't as good as Chick-Fil-A's sandwich, lol!. :)
