Great setup. Things have come a long way since my first big screen / surround sound setup in the 1980's. For the people that think it's too expensive, they haven't been involved in home theater very long. My first HDTV in 2001 was a 65" Mitsubishi that weighed 375 pounds and cost $4600... These projectors are great!
OK, this is a gamechanger. I've always been put off projectors due to the poor contrast in lit conditions, unless using EXTREMELY expensive screens. Finally, the combination of 4K, short-throw, and excellent contrast has arrived. I think I know what my next upgrade is going to be...

Thanks for suggestion my friend I agree :) Anyway I brought my Mackie SRM 450 many years ago and I love them, they are amazing speakers with crystal clear and well balanced true sound. Considering how cheap very large LCD 4K sets are, I don't see the value. You can get a decent 75" screen, pretty mainstream and large enough for most spaces, for $1500, and will still outperform even this in bright conditions.
@@BoopSnoot Sure if you're happy with 75" then this is not for you. For those of us wanting 100-120", this combo is by far the cheapest way to get absolutely top-quality results.
Two words come in my mind: perfect presentation. Interesting, well detailed and down to earth. You're a really nice guy. Thank you for this fantastic explanations.
Once you see something like that it’s impossible to unsee 😂. It’s like finding a dead pixel on your phone or TV, you went months or years without noticing, but after knowing it’s there anytime a uniform colour screen comes up you will find it lol
@I’m stupid, but- did you try downloading some single color images to take up the whole display with blue, green, red? I’ve had quite a few over the years from them, without actually testing for it you’ll never see it in actual content due to how small the retina pixels are on these small screens. You need to put up a single color image and inspect the screen very closely I used to check my iPhone screens right when the warranty period was coming to an end and often found dead pixels. Sometimes I might’ve given a little encouragement to induce a few dead pixels if the screens were perfect.
@I’m stupid, but, just tested my iPhone since it’s the first OLED product I have from them. Pixels all working. Lol I’ve never tried it with an OLED looks/feels so weird when the screen is displaying a uniform color across the whole screen. It’s like looking into a depthless void, felt like my eyes didn’t know where to focus (at least in my dimly lit room). With the LCD screens I’ve tried before could still kinda see the pixles giving the eyes something to focus onto.
Nice video. 👍🏻 Amazing how cheap it has gotten 🙄 I spent around 60,000+ SEK on my 1080p Sony projector + 135" screen some 5 years ago. Laser ultra short seems to be the way to go in the future 😊👍🏻
This is one of the best reviews I've ever watched. Thanks for taking the time you did to put all this together. I'm leaning towards just getting this exact projector and screen because of your review. Thanks again
cool! Actually to me it is better in daylight, as all tvs on the market are reflective. Thought maybe you would be able to find non reflective one as you found that screen. You can even see it on 7:44 and on - tv screen is more black in some places, but when it reflects table it is light gray and brutal contrast to the black, while projection screen just gradually gets darker gray - this for me is much more pleasant for viewing. Or even later when tv reflect white wall - it is same gray as the screen.
You should take the $50. Then, you have a few things to try: Heat the black resin spot and attempt to remove with a needle or pick. Paint the resin spot with a matte gray paint so that it matches the rest of the screen. Ignore it.

Doesn't really matter, PA speakers are created to create a TRUE sound. As played as heard, Hi-Fi speakers are most of the times made to enrich the sound to make anything sound good on them. As long as you have a good source on PA-speakers they can be really good alternatives.
Have you heard those Mackie SRM 450 speakers in person? Crystal clear, balanced true sound and they are Insane loud. Amazing speakers. When I was a teenager there was one night club with these speakers and I was blow away how good these speakers sounded and how loud they were. I told myself that one day I will buy them I eventually I did and I love them! For the record I have almost brand new Logitech Z5500 in the box(very hard to found these days) with nice stands, but I do like the sound on my Mackie's. Sound that comes from these speakers are so much more true without any artificial enhancement and effect which I do like. BTW I could install my z5500 these days next to my Mackie's so that I could switch sound from one to another. For example for music I can listen Mackie and for movies i could listen my 5.1 Z5500.

The normal "not 4k" Xiaomi laser projector was (is still) pretty awesome. Way cheaper than what, let's say, Sony does. 1000$ is 4 times the price of the projector... (in 2017).
great video on showing how to actually use the projector in proper way... when xiaomi introduce this 4k projector, i also think the biggest downside was the brightness compare to traditional tv, this nice fabric with the frame really make it much cooler and beautiful. nice!

Thanks for the video. Have you done any input lag tests with the 4k projector? Would be nice to know if PS4 oder Xbox games are playable now (as the 1080p model hat bad input lag)

I have this exact setup but, I opted for the more expensive screen. Still, you must compare 3300 dollars you spent and about 3900 dollars I spent minus 400 dollars as a discount on the projector with professional calibration. (You can get a top Sony 75 inch TV for 3300 minus discount or a 77 inch LG OLED for 3600 dollars or so with much better picture qualities and daytime viewing) You need a screen and frame with the projector. You can buy an LG 86" 4K Smart TV for 1700-2000 dollars) So, it's the uniqueness of it at that price. If it was half the price, it would be worth it. I have 3 UST TVs but, they are just for 100 to 150 inch screens and the coolness of how they look. Just mount and 86" TV and save about 1600 dollars minimum. Sorry to say it. Good video though. Once it's mounted, the weight means nothing. (In English and not from a non reputable company.
In my apartment I can't do a 86" TV. would look way too small. Currently rocking 130" screen to be able to see. Also the ability to have the speaker behind the screen instead of below / over the TV is a huge plus for me.

Kasper Rørvang Thanks for suggestion I try it. Today I received and install the new fabric. :)

my suggestion: never take refunds, always send back and accept nothing than the quality that was promised.
Looks amazing! It's about time for me to replace my 1080P LCD projector and this would work great in my room. Great video and I look forward to seeing more!
Forget about ppl in the world dying if hunger. You worry about that new tv
Ya big dummy ;)
I too need to replace my aging 1080p BenQ. Although it still impresses me for only being 1080p.
Watch all your amp test videos lol

Very cool, now the real challenge: finding some decent content to watch on it!
I can't afford this now but I'm happy to see you have this. Such a lucky guy
i have a xiaomi mija 8k laser projector, the screen in the description works amazing
Thank you!!!
why the heck are you using PA speakers for your audio ??? they are great for loud but quality cant be good..
who cares
For example for music I can listen Mackie and for movies i could listen my 5.1 Z5500.

for this price, without mentioning the projector as well, i'd rather get a 4k tv oled
Well if you care about the price. Then good luck reselling your 100" TV in 3 years. The projector and screen have no logistical barrier.
But you can't get 120 inch screen size. It's different based on preference.
@@Gongolongo I agree but you can have a pretty decent size with tv anyway I don't have such place in my appartment :D
For a Balkanac living in Sweden, great job. ^_^
sad mi je lakse... ja gledam cudan nesto ovaj svedjanin.
this is the kind of review i appreciate. not loaded with promos or cryptic specs just down to business this is what it does in person. liked and subbed.
The normal "not 4k" Xiaomi laser projector was (is still) pretty awesome. Way cheaper than what, let's say, Sony does. 1000$ is 4 times the price of the projector... (in 2017).
Did you compare projector with screen with TV? I mean brightness, quality of picture etc?
tv is much better for the image quality but you cant really have more than 80-85 inches tv with a decent price.
Are you trying to hypnotize us at 6:49?? Illuminati confirmed.
Hahhaha
Kudos to xiaomi for such excellent product. Like your review too.. very comprehensive..
Man, it’s really humorous the way you present it:)
Sergii Papirnyi Thanks man!
great video on showing how to actually use the projector in proper way... when xiaomi introduce this 4k projector, i also think the biggest downside was the brightness compare to traditional tv, this nice fabric with the frame really make it much cooler and beautiful. nice!
looks really nice this screen.. and it's really BIG - looks great..
Wow you really have a nice setup! Very tempted!!
Can you please take a Video on a sunny day without jalousie half closed? That would be very interesting. Thank you.
New fabric my man, you'll always notice that mark. I been down this road.
They send me a new fabric and I installed it already. It looks perfect!

Wow, that looks like a pretty good picture, even considering that you don't even have the windows closed and the room is fully dark and your're filming it
Great review, your living room and patio are beautiful!
so matte screens don't have glare, who would've thought :P
Thank you, great review. You have saved my lots of research time.
Great review! Really considering similar concept in the near future.
Awesome product review buddy, I didn’t realize how advance projectors are becoming nowadays. Now I’m more intrigued about switching over.
I am impressed with your leveling skill with such a big and frigile screen
It's not that fragile and it's 20kg heavy but thanks :)
For the Android box, you should look into the Nvidia shield tv box. It's a very powerful Android box.
Agree, I have both Mi box S and Nvidia shield. Nvidia shield is definitely a lot better.
Why not just buy an intel nuc? seems more powerful and has more uses
@@FerminCoronel yea, why would you want something with a working remote and the ability to seamlessly switch applications without having to rely on mouse and keyboard ;D
Thanks for your review. I currently own a 65" Sony 4K OLED. If only i could compare these screens side by side... Wondering if it's a big picture quality trade-off for nearly twice the size.
Dainius Ivaska I’d imagine so. 4k is 4k but if you double the screen size there is going to be a noticeable quality in picture
@@backward9 i had more of black levels and color fidelity difference in mind
@Factory 23 thanks for taking your time to answer
Thanks for the video. Have you done any input lag tests with the 4k projector? Would be nice to know if PS4 oder Xbox games are playable now (as the 1080p model hat bad input lag)
Me too! 😅👍🏻
Hi guys! Yes I did test it. Input lag according to my test is 100ms, so this ultra short throw laser Projector is definitely not good for high FPS games. Honesty I don't really know is there any gaming UST laser projector available on the market in this price range.
drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1EpiaG9BH34sBkrMR30qILgby2s88XU5K
I have the uhz65. The lag is fine and its rated 120 and way up. Didn't even notice.
Lukas Schmitt i have the 1080p version and can say that gaming is not possible.
I loved this video, incredibly detailed, although I do not have that much budget, the result it obtained is incredibly satisfactory 👍🏼
Thank you so much for your comment my friend! I appreciate it very much! Please check this video as well I think you like it even more :)

Holy shit!.... I'm not easily impressed... but that projector screen blew my socks off!
thanks for your review i really loved it. can you make an other review on 3D performance.
i am a 3D fan .
thanks
Wilhelm Johansson how much is a 130” ambient-light-rejecting screen?
@@zsqduke I paid nothing for it, got it off from work when they were rebuilding the offices.
