So many of my clients come to me after having been previously put into the wrong season. The best part about a professional color analysis is that you should be able to see and understand what’s happening as you go through the process. The education is as valuable as the outcome. This is awesome! Thank you for sharing this interview with us. My biggest struggle now is finding my colors in stores because rich winter colors are not very common in the price range I can afford. But the silver lining is that I am saving money and practicing patience to buy only pieces that I love.

I've loved color analysis for over 30 years! If you are changing colors, on a budget, do a clothes swap with friends & take your swatches trifting or shop end of season sales! 🌈

I loved when she said how women limit themselves to black, grey, white, cream, brown and this is eye opening and giving permission to wear a beautiful spectrum of color!

Anything to boost confidence and assist in feeling more comfortable in your own skin is so worthwhile. I feel your channel has been elevated to a new level. You are glowing in your recent videos and seem so energised. Love it 😊 💗
The right colors are so powerful! I did my own colors in the 1980s using a book. It had excellent season color charts, and my own coloring is pretty definite which helped a lot! I favored Winter, but must be close to the line with Summer because guess when I buy most of my clothes? Yep, during those two seasons! Thanks to your videos I’m re-examining my clothing choices and eliminating what doesn’t work. Thanks again, and I look forward to upcoming videos!

I truly loved this!!! Thank you so much for doing this video. I can't wait to see what my palette is! ❤
Thank you darling for this very informative video. Isn’t Melany a beautiful soul, she is beautiful, what a smile too!!! There is an underlying passion that shines in the way she speaks about colour analysis.
I agree that a good color analysis must be done in person. My skin and eye color can look totally different in pictures. Plus you won't have your skin react to a color in a photo. I am a very frugal person. However, I have wasted alot of money on clothing not knowing my best colors. I am nearly 60 years old and have had so much frustration because of making assumptions about my color season. I am a brunette with golden olive skin and blue green eyes with golden flecks around the pupils. For decades I assumed I was a winter. But, I always felt like something was off. Then I watched a TH-cam video and thought I must be a softsummer/winter because I have a soft croma. Finally, I found a video by Miriam style and realized (with out a doubt ) I am actually a deep/soft autumn. I always assumed I couldn't be warm because I looked horrible in bright very warm colors and I also thought all olive skin was cool toned. I was wrong! I love the softer deep warm shades on me. It makes my eyes and skin glow and I dont look so dreadfully sallow anymore. Too bad it took me until I was 60 to finally figure this out ! I really wish I would have done my colors professionally done decades ago !!!
I can be pretty frugal too, but on some things I do believe it's worth it to invest the money. This is one of them! I wonder if you would consider getting a professional color analysis now? I'm still of the idea that olive skin is cool at it's nature (green undertones - green being a color in the cool side) but I do believe there can be warmer olives, though only in comparison to other olives if that makes sense.
@@vazq_Fernanda Hi Fernanda, thank you for your reply. I have compared soft chroma peachs vs. cool pinks, burnt oranges vs. cool burgundies/mauves and cream vs. soft white. I really prefer the warmer tones as long as their not too light and bright. I also agree that olive skin does have an element of coolness. But in my case, having such a golden hue, I turn too grayish in very blue based colors. The deep autumn palette seems just right because it still has alot of cool tones and the soft richer deeper colors bring the warm tones to a more of a neutral . I guess this is my long way of saying, not now I'm happy 🙂
@@vazq_Fernanda Ladies (and gents who wear lipstick): If you go back to the original video discussing the results of the color analysis, I posted a HUGE list of lipstick brands and shades that flatter Winters with light-medium skin tones, from very bold to very subtle, and at all price ranges. The first line says "LIPSTICKS" in all caps, I hope you can find it.. (I have a capsule wardrobe, but lipsticks...am a bit of a hoarder in the lip color department. 😬)
I have always loved color and while I’m sure I could benefit from an analysis I feel like I have a good handle on what is complimentary on me. Being Plus sized and having a budget, I find so many things only come in black, white, gray and navy. I’ve gone into plus size departments in well known stores like Macy’s and the choices are just plain dismal. So frustrating!

It is such a different look for a "professional you" then wearing it with a side parting for a more casual look. It looks great too with one side behind one ear. You are such a lovely person! 🤗
Thank you so much for this informative interview. I have my color analysis appointment in about two weeks and I found it valuable to learn about the practical aspects after learning what my colors are.
I'm so glad you found it helpful! You have to comment back after your appointment and let me know what season you are and how it went! Is it with a House of Colour consultant?
I completed my analysis with my local House of Colour consultant in San Antonio, TX today. I am a winter and look best in bright saturated colors. I am already enjoying applying what I learned to plan my first capsule wardrobe. I am also embracing a bright pink lipstick that I never would have tried before.
I think I'm a Soft Summer, I purchased SS swatches online and went to Goodwill to experiment. I didn't want to spend loads just in case I didn't like the colors on me.
Thank you for sharing your experience and this video! I am looking into building a capsule wardrobe for myself and want to make sure I’m buying colors that look good on me. Can you give me an idea of how much this analysis ran?
I am fascinated to watch this journey. I think HoC also does style typing, did you get that service too? If you make another video can you address the middle ground of hue/value/chroma. For example, on a 1-10 hue scale with 1-5= warm, 6-10= cool, what if you are a 6? Wouldn’t you look better in level 4 warms than level 10 cools? You’d technically be a cool season, say winter, but 40% of your better colors would be autumn and 40% of your season’s colors would be too cool on you. Same for dark/light and soft/bright. Can’t someone functionally be medium on these spectrums? Sorry for the long comment this is just something I’ve been wondering a while.
I think I can answer this as a 6! So I’m a neutral-cool hue, medium value, soft/muted chroma (aka Soft Summer) meaning I can wear most colours with the help of makeup and I won’t look terrible. As a ‘medium’ neutral, yes, I tend to avoid the extremes - brilliant white, black, yellow and blue, and my dominant colours in summer are warm and in winter, cool. Being more neutral than cool I feel I can get away with mixing warm and cool in an outfit eg. Apricot brown skirt and white shirt with peacock green stole, or chartreuse top and olive trousers with teal jumper. The cardinal rule is to have a flattering colour by your face/chin especially coats and accessories - so in my case nothing bright or overly warm. To be honest I wasn’t impressed with my recommended muted colour scheme so I’m mindful of it but still drawn to what I like so my wardrobe is a bit of an eclectic mix of items I love and for now that’s all that matters! I aim for a curated but not a capsule wardrobe :)
I had my colors done by House of Colours a few weeks ago! I gave my consultant a run for her money. haha. It took her a bit to figure out if I was warm or cool toned. I gave her .ore trouble than the other 2 girls with me. She got there undertones very quickly. I wonder if it's because my undertone is neutral. I asked her and she said she isn't trained in neutral. She said I am a Winter with subseason Burnished Winter. I love my consultant. It was so much fun! I've been told by others than I have golden undertones but then cool tones from other people. Soooooo, I'm not sure. 🤣
FWIW the SciArt color system has 12 seasons and 8 of their seasons are neutrals that kind of sit in the middle but lean a little bit cooler or warmer. So if you're a winter you may be neutral-cool.
I signed up for Dressing your Truth -they give each ‘season’ a number profile. my type was #1 which to me is winter.. I have trouble picking the right colors on that system because instead of purchasing items that are a pure color I pick items with too much black… I will be very interested to go through a house of colour analysis, because I think burgundy is one of my best colors, but in dressing your truth, they stated that was not one of my colors…I will look to see if there is a consultant in my area
I just want to tell you that ever since you had your color analysis, your face looks brighter and happier. Also, I wonder if those colors Melany mentioned, (cream, white, black, gray) does that go with every season? I mean, does that look good if you’re a winter, autumn, summer, or spring?
Hi! Who would you recommend for a house of color analyst in Austin, TX? Thank you! I saw there are a few folks in my area but who would you recommend for a
I would love a House of Colour consultation. My issue is there is no one in my area. I don’t mind driving several hours one way. The few I have found are not responding to any of my inquiries. Although on the list, perhaps no longer doing this. I’ve been told I’m a summer, yet I get compliments wearing autumn colors. I honestly have no clue. I’ve heard online is not the best. I’m in New England, USA.
This is so fascinating. I wish you'd organize for Melany to come to NYC to work with all of us. Melany would come if there were at least 5 people interested in having their analysis done. Possible?
I think a professional color analysis is a great investment. Not only will you look better in your perfect palette, it helps so much to have a starting point for building a good wardrobe that works well. Having all different colors just makes it so difficult to put good outfits together, working with only one-quarter of the color possibilities really helps. I’m eliminating a few of the stronger colors from my Summer palette now that haven’t worked as well as others. After the analysis, I would start by purging all tops that are in one’s worst colors, they can be replaced with simple shirts or t-shirts in better colors for a small expense.
Oh my, the money I saved since I had it and it was only last year! I don't buy clothes that are just sitting in the wardrobe after anymore. It is a bit pricy but so worth it :)
I was always interested in getting my color done but I have rosecea and I feel like I look so irritated and red. Is it possible that certain colors can counteract the redness .?
100%!!! If you want, send me a DM @vazq_fernanda or an email, and I'll send you a video on this exact issue, but presented with freckles. You will be amazed at the results!
Years, no decades ago, a hosiery company had a piece of equipment in a Nordstroms store I was in, it flashed a light on your inner arm, and measured the reflection some how, all to recommend the color of nude pantyhose best suited to your SkinTone. I believe the Munsell color system may be a good color system to implement with online shopping, and any remote color communications, as it consists of a precise numeric measurement of hue, chroma, and shade of any color. It may have been what was being used back then, when women pain $10 every few days for pantyhose 😉
I have to chime in that true red does not work for everyone! It may be 'neutral' in hue (although that's debatable...), but it's far too rich in saturation for summers and many springs and autumns. 13:00
I would write to them! If you get a large enough group together, they may consider sending a consultant to visit you and do a bunch of people’s colors. Remember there’s power in numbers- if you say there’s enough interest, who knows what could happen? It may help them too!
I looked up pricing in my area and it’s over $300 for me to get a color analysis. So, are there any tips for finding better colors on yourself while I save up the money? It’s gonna take me a couple of months.
Honestly, I would wait. That's what I did! For the last 6 months, I only purchased 1 thing out of necessity because I didn't want to risk buying something that could be wrong anymore. It saved me a lot of money and it was well worth it. Start by looking at your makeup, if you wear it. The wrong color mascara, blush can havve a huge impact, and leave a ton of clues!
I am still going to wear my favorite colors sometimes! Just bought an olive moissanite ring I know I “should” return, but I’ll wear it in the Fall, sometimes. That said, trying my best colors out is like magic, so I wear favorite worst colors a lot less than I used to! I save them for handbags, shoes with opaque tights or slacks, but drapes and other home decor, much more so. I’m a Light Spring…just got Autumn gold drapes, with brassy orange accents. I love Autumn colors and used to wear them all the time. Luckily, there are lighter, clearer versions of the same colors in Spring that are Best Colors on me. It makes a huge difference! I will be wearing my medium-dark red orange at least once in October, but put a light dreamsicle orange with my Halloween leggings and am not going back to Pumpkin!

@@leahlw2853 That makes a lot of sense!
Loving these videos on color analysis! I was going to try online analysis but I can see why I should find someone to see in person.
I really do believe in person is better, you get to SEE the change for yourself!
I just want to tell you that ever since you had your color analysis, your face looks brighter and happier. Also, I wonder if those colors Melany mentioned, (cream, white, black, gray) does that go with every season? I mean, does that look good if you’re a winter, autumn, summer, or spring?
Black, white and grey are cool neutrals (Summer & Winter) and Cream, brown, beige are warm neutrals (for Autumns and Springs).
You just made me realize I forgot to include one clip I recorded! I'll uploaded it as a short because it illustrates this perfectly.
@@vazq_Fernanda taupe is so good for summer especially for soft summer :)
Yes! Taupe is grey with a hint of brown.
Loved this vídeo! Very helpfull ❤
This was so great, Fernanda! Thank you so much for your research and sharing your experience!
Your email made me SO HAPPY!!!
@@vazq_Fernanda Aww, thanks!!I’m so glad for our color discussion + these videos!! It’s making a big difference for me 🦋
Is the color consultant a Winter? I see she’s wearing silver jewelry. That blue looks amazing on her.
she is!
Does getting tan changes one’s color palette? I live in a country where I’m tan for 7 months of a year
It was massively interesting and informative 👍
So glad it was!
after having this process, do you get to take home the color drapes that work on you so you can shop with them in the future?
You can't take the actual drapes, but they do send you home with a fan with swatches of them that serves this purpose.
What a great video. I want to have my colors done, I wish house of color was near me
Where are you located?
@@vazq_Fernanda Mississippi
Thanks! This journey has been enlightening!
I don't know what my ideal colours are but I've realised that my salt and pepper hair can look yellow in cream, brown, taupe so I avoid these
This is so interesting. Do you know if there is anything like this in North Carolina.
There is! Check the map linked in the description box ❤️
Love this series
I'm so glad you do! I have this newfound fascination with color, it's all I think about...
This is so fascinating. I wish you'd organize for Melany to come to NYC to work with all of us. Melany would come if there were at least 5 people interested in having their analysis done. Possible?
Ooohh I like this idea!
@@vazq_Fernanda Will you keep me posted? I'm game.
She said maybe early next year. Are you on my email list? If not, send me an email, so I can let you know directly if she does choose to come.
@@vazq_Fernanda I sent you my email. I'd love to be included.
I just checked how much they are charging and it is almost $600.
You look incredible in this coloured top
Your videos are just packed with goodness!
Aww thank you!
Yep. Love it. M a Winter too,
I have to chime in that true red does not work for everyone! It may be 'neutral' in hue (although that's debatable...), but it's far too rich in saturation for summers and many springs and autumns. 13:00
That's what I was told at my appointment based on the research at the Bauhaus school. But it's true that there are better reds for every season!
@@vazq_Fernanda 🤔 good to know!
I am from India how can I take house of colour’s service?🥺
I would write to them! If you get a large enough group together, they may consider sending a consultant to visit you and do a bunch of people’s colors.
Remember there’s power in numbers- if you say there’s enough interest, who knows what could happen? It may help them too!
@@vazq_Fernanda Oh that’s really sweet of you..I will try and talk to people around me to take this service..thank you so much for your efforts 🧡
Let me know how it goes! I know they do that for corporations, so they may do it!
I looked up pricing in my area and it’s over $300 for me to get a color analysis. So, are there any tips for finding better colors on yourself while I save up the money? It’s gonna take me a couple of months.
If I were you, I would just wait till that. I mean what if you buy things that turn out to be the wrong color?
@@Kif_Lee not buy things, just pick out what is best in my own wardrobe.
@@vazq_Fernanda I only rarely wear makeup, except foundation. But now I wonder if my foundation is right.
You're excellent
Fascinating - thank you.
Well done Fernanda..
Thank you Joan! I'm glad you liked it!
How much does the color analysis cost?
It was $215 for me!
@@vazq_Fernanda oh ok, that is not to bad ☺️
Not bad at all! For everything you get, I would have paid way more.
@@vazq_Fernanda exactly
It's $350 near me
I'm in the DC area and emailed Melanie twice to book a session. No response. Not professional and thus do not recommend.
Me: This is brilliant!
Also me: stubbornly wearing unflattering colours cuz I like them & don't care 😆
