I commented on the Fiberskyn video about wishing to hear it with Ambassadors, and here it is. I like it! I'm tempted to get this kit, but use Yamaha Crosstown snare baskets for the toms. Your stands etc must be heavier than this drum kit! Thanks for this video series. Tama should reward you!
I did the same on my Tama Pancake :: switched all the heads to Amassadors except for the bassdrum reso head that have a Fiberskin Powerstoke 3 (no ported) - that gives a fantastic sound!! . Anyway I also like the stock reso bassdrum head so just because i didnt want to mess with it I decided to keep it safe :) I just bought a second one (stock Tama smooth white reso head) to port with a '4 hole :: just trying to fix more options in order to get different sounds from the the bassdrum. I definitely love this kit that now sits in my room while I temporarily stowed away my Gretsch RN2 bop Kit.
Which Remo Ambasador plastics do you recommend for volume 10" & floor volume 13", to make it sound less, i.e. to have a more muted tone, should the plastics be thin ? Because the 13" floor tom bass rings too much for me.
Thanks for posting! There isn't much discussion out there on forums for this kit yet. Is it quiet enough to play in a condo with an attached neighbor next door, or is it roughly as loud as a standard kick just smaller?
If you use regular heads, there’s no big difference between these drums and standard drums. If so I suggest to buy Remo silent stroke and put them on the drums. That will make a big impact when it comes to play with neighbors next door.
Sorry for not answer. It is ok as long as you use a drum rug and play not to hard. Of course, this is a kit for cafes or places where you have to reduce both volume and space.
@@westerlu77 for Jazz trio in small venues the kit surely doesnt need to be miced , the overall sound is already perfectly balanced and also have enough headroom For louder cross sticks and rim shots I placed a gruv-x click on the snare with eccellent results
@@westerlu77 the video is great!! I appreceated a lot the video :: thank you for posting the pancake jazz version; and it is interesting how the stock reso head interacts with the ambassador batter👍
Tell me how you managed to get such a deep tone on the bass drum, did you adjust it to medium or high, ie did you change the plastic on the bass drum ?? What bass drum microphone is this, name ?
How did you manage to get such a deep bass drum tone, to make it sound so good? Is there a part in the fact that you put the new injected remo plastic 18" ?
Hi! I should recommend you to try out Remo Powerstroke clear or coated on the bass drum. Tension the batter head to finger tight and the maybe 1/2 more turn with the drum key. I recommend to not port a hole when the drum itself is quite hallowed. You will lose more low end if you cut a hole. Good luck!
@@x-town7007 What do you mean about that? Is either coated (white heads) or transparent. In the jazz video I use coated, on my first video I use transparent heads.
@@westerlu77 I'm curious if your plastics only say Ambasador Coated or Ambasador with some other name (wheatherking, clear,..?) Maybe I expressed myself badly in the last message 😊
@@snezanaradic8592 You can get Remo heads Ambassador in coated or clear. Ambassador in a 1ply head. I my other video I use Emperor clear which is a double ply heads.
Lovely playing there… can imagine that would be perfect in a jazz trio

Also Coated ambassadors ?
And res snare head also changed ????
@@MrBluoct nope, I didn't change the snare reso
@@MrBluoct yes all coated Ambassador except the snare reso (that I left stock) and on bassdrum reso that I switched to Fiberskin Powerstock 3
How did you tune the fiberskyn on the bass? I added one also and tuned to 75 on my drum dial and it sounds flat. Redo is tuned higher.
Jesus, now what! Pancake or flayer?
I keep seeing videos for these kits yet they are no where in the USA. Most recent update from sweetwater is saying earliest Oct/Nov!
same goes on Thomann's website. the earliest order is around 3-4 weeks. i should've bought it when it's released lol
Oh no … so what heads now seems …ideal ?
Thx

You can try moongel or some damp rings on it.
I bought only the bass drums 🙂

@@westerlu77 Thank you so much for the quick reply and the tips!
What ride cymbal is that? Sounds amazing
Thanks! 🙏 It is a Meinl Byzance Foundry Reserve 22”. I like it a lot too.
how's the stability of the bass drum? It seems it moves a lot with relatively small power?

Are you satisfied with the drum, sound, bags and dimensions of the drum?
For that price of money, absolutely! It’s also super easy to carry around these drums.

In this video you have Ambassador head also on reso side of the bassdrum?
Unfortunately not. I used the Tama original head.

Has anyone else tried to switch to an EMAD head on bass batter but the hoop did not fit ?
Very late to this question, but I’m thinking of doing a video with EMAD, which model of EMAD is most interesting??

The bass drum is tuned relatively high I think and read me specs. There you see my mics and heads.
@@westerlu77 The drum sounds really deep, which is good, it doesn't have that shallow sound. It is well arranged.
