Thanks so much for this one. I'm limited in space, recently got the 1899 but haven't used it yet. The new taps/lengths you told us about should help a lot, and even if only get close, the built-in tuner on my 6100 should tweak it to perfection! 73 de KA8VLW, Ken in Michigan
N6WIP: Thank you! I was ready to throw my MFJ-1899T as far as I could. I have downloaded the instruction sheet you mentioned and found the area for the 1899T. I can't wait to get out and try it. It's 107° outside. I'll wait for a cooler day. Please add a link in the description to help others find the proper download. Again, thank you. Oh yeah. MFJ has not revised the instruction sheet for the 2899T. Go figure.
That little MFJ-1820T really surprised me, it definitely needs the radial to be tuned and can be a bit of a pain to get swr low but when I get it right I've no problem making contacts when conditions are good. I found sometimes raising the radial a little works good or just throwing over some bushes in a flower bed. The MFJ-9232 is worth experimenting with too, I have good fun with this, no radials and I'd love you to do some videos if you get it, again follow the MFJ manual and you won't go wrong. I use 10mm soft copper pipe. I made up a couple of loops for different bands, MFJ designed it for use with wire but it would be good if they made a version with a tripod mount and can hold larger rigid loops. I got a mobile phone tripod mount and use it with the 10m loop. When 10m is open it's a really tiny setup.
No problem. I have these two videos already with the MFJ-9232 Loop Tuner on a Summit activation in South Dakota and a Park activation in Colorado. th-cam.com/video/2DjTIaGzkkk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9hRWRsd_DBgIwibs MFJ-9232 on a 10pt Summit in South Dakota th-cam.com/video/WpWl9VaNurk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=L7jCKhlZFimX1yrD Testing on MFJ-9232 in a Park in Colorado Thanks for watching.
