- I get over to the Cheyenne Mountain State Park to do an activation with my new Xiegu X6200. Unlike the first one on Summer Field Day when it was super busy bands I get the chance to move around bands and tune with the internal 10:1 tuner on the Xiegu and see how it performs. I have a good feeling about this radio and think that it is a good backup to my Icom 705. I use my 29' Packtenna random wire and a new RG-316 that I got thats 25' long. Lets see how this Xiegu X6200 does.
New Monument resident and 33 year ham, glad I found your channel.
I appreciate it and welcome to the area. I do testing of things all around the area besides my out of state shenanigans. Ham-Solo K0FYR
Just got a x6200 myself, to go with 2 G90’s and a 7300. New neighborhood is deed restricted, so getting creative with the antennas. So far, Chameleon mag loop works well, especially for FT8.
@ yeah all of my antenna for the QTH are in my attic. Got South Africa on SSB 100 watts with 71’ random wire in attic. I actually sold my x6200 now to make room for the new Yaesu QRP rig coming out beginning of 2025. The FTX-1F I got on preorder. Ham-Solo K0FYR
great job thanks 73 from kb2uew
Well, at least you know you can get plenty of contacts on 17cm lol. That rig seems to have a lot of great features, but just seem that big of an improvement over the 6100 for more money. Thanks for sharing. 73. KC3UEE
@@kidbach yeah not sure on improvements as I never used a 6100 before. I’m still testing out all the features but it’s raining and I can’t go out on support your parks weekend. Ham-Solo K0FYR
Just get a 991A for $300 more and be done with it…
@@skepticalmechanic I played the 100 watt game before and don’t like it. It feels like cheating. I had a 991A in my QTH before and traded it for a 897D. I also have an Icom 7300 but both of those stay in the house. My travel radios are my IC-705 and now this Xiegu X6200 both running QRP and I’ve activated 43 states for POTA and 39 states for SOTA using QRP power and it’s fine for me. Ham-Solo K0FYR
