@@enyaliosares4301New people are joining all the time? Tthe whole point of expanding the free trial is to entice more people to play the game. So yeah I'm gonna expect my fellow party members to wait for the newbie in the cutscene. Because for them it's not 3-4 years old. It's new. Just like when we were new. And it's not like most dungeon cutscenes are long. Many of them are like 5-10 seconds at most. You can wait the short amount of time for a cutscene to play. I promise waiting won't hurt you.
@@enyaliosares4301this game whole philosophy is about supporting sprouts on their journey through old content so they can enjoy the story. Almost all roulettes are there for them. You get rewarded for helping them out, that’s the main reason for roulette rewards to exist, to entice veterans into helping new players no matter how old the content is, even if it’s ARR.
If you’re too impatient to wait for half a minute then sign up with full party of veterans or don’t do roulette at all. ❤

The tank and healer here are really slacking in their duties here. Common etiquette is that if someone is viewing a cutscene, everyone else should be starting a dance party around them.
the /showleft or /showright emote is also a must to make them feel welcome.
I'm partial to striking a most gentlemanly pose in front of them.
Viewing cutscene is my favorite mechanic

I once entered a Eden Shiva trial and one of the player's name was "Watching cutscene" we were sweating bullets and confused because the fight had started and the purple ring was gone and yet the name didn't change so we all thought he was lagging like crazy. That was a fun battle lol.
Yeah, had someone named "Viewing Cutscene" yesterday. Thankfully we had all noticed at the beginning.
As a tank, I am always hyper aware of cutscenes. Well, unless I am playing warrior, the temptation to be my own healer and DPS is real.

DRG: Every day I wake up and choose to be the greatest floor tank the world has ever seen, half the time the boss goes with me. Other times it's a hamster-grade death.

My thoughts exactly. Most specifically in Prae where those who set their language to JP somehow will finish each cutscenes around 10secs+ faster.
If yoship didn't want early pulls he'd have put the wall there.
@@meghanmeridia6513 Or it's because they'd have to go through every dungeon to adjust the cutscene trigger positions so the wall will actually stop people. They still haven't adjusted the wall for that one part in Labyrinth of the Ancients so everyone locked out doesn't end up in A's lane.
And it's probably not much of an issue on the Japan data centers.

I am usually not a YPYT kind of person, but...if you pull while someone's still in a cutscene, you're on your own XD
My very first dungeon with people, I was healer and they started the boss in the cutscene. But it was like a 12s cutscene, so by the time I got my bearings the barrier came up already and I, in my panic, hit "no" on the tp offer without reading it. I had to watch them slowly wipe from outside. It was super stressful.
It took me until Snowcloak and making some friends to give players another try. I just don't ever want want to put anyone else through that.
Even if you press no you get teleported in later. SE forces you to enter.
It does now. It used to be if you stopped to watch a cutscene and players went in before you were done, then you were locked out. I'm glad they fixed this.

I can't remember which boss/dungeon but someone pulled and everyone stood out of the arena. That puller got immediate TB and dusted. Then proceeds to say "gg, tank didn't provoke" then he left. Was a good time. 🤣
By now i have actually started playing ffiv
nd the bonus tombstones for playing with first timers really makes me feel not as bad for watching the cutscenes
because the other players get something out of it as well.
1 000 000 gil would suffice, keep the stones to yourself
We also get free points for a side bingo game everyone plays if we're in a dungeon/trial with a new player so it's win-win for everyone

I know they're short, but it's funny they still do this 5 expansions in when 99% of dungeon final boss cutscenes nowadays are just the boss spawns and does some kind of roar or angry noise or something.
I think its just really nice cause some people want to watch those since they are kinda hype and since they are so short NOT waiting for anyone who wants to watch them is just really weird

If I'm doing anything for the first time I'm watching that roar cutscene. I'm going through the story and it helps with immersion.
The real obnoxiousness is when you get a story cutscene before a trial boss. Like, what prevented them from doing the cutscene BEFORE letting you queue for the trial?
First Ifrit is probably the most egregious, the cutscene was longer than the fight

Reminds me of world of warcraft where a dps runs on ahead of everyone and hits the boss before the rest of the team can get in; locking them outside.
Had it happen loads of times (although mostly during MoP-Legion era) and it's funny because either:
a. They apologise after running back and they learn their mistake. Making the rest of the battles smooth.
or b. they disconnect or yell at everyone for their stupidity "which someone points out what they did" and THEN they leave. Giving us a new and better dps which goes smoothly.
FF14 Cutscenes remind me of that, but a less toxic version. A version everyone respects each other and understands their faults.
Well when I played it, haven't played since after endwalker released, so I don't know if it's got better or worse. I know it was far nicer before endwalker but that's probably all the wow players moving over at the time :D
I once had someone who managed to skip cutscenes in the Praetorium somehow, and he learned very quicky Gaius will absolutely juice you if you are a ninja with a tankbuster
dc skip. Iiirc if you log out during the cutscene(or dc) the cutscene doesn't start back up again when you log back in.
@SailorMusicCat i've had that happen to me once since my old vpn was shoddy. I waited of course, thats just good etiquette on JP servers. They should allow people to skip the cutscenes, but lock people out of the fight untill everyone is out of cutscene. That way people who have run praetorium 1000 times can dilly dally while the sprout gets his lore

I had so many people not wait for cutscenes on me, but unlike this, usually the party just goes in and does it anyway.
I always wait for watchers. But most fights can be done duo, so not much I can do.

If you are a tank you can definitely live, there is a comical amount of normal mode content that can be soloed by 1 tank, including p1n on content. If you are a healer, you can also probably live, unless there is one of the non trivial tank busters in the first minute. If you are a dps, well, better hope it is one of the outscaled ones that hit like tissue paper, or else your deep dungeon kiting skills are really going to be put to the test.
as a WAR main i can confirm there are few dungeons i cant solo LMAO
i was recently informed by a gigachad that if someone starts the boss, the tank can drag it out of the arena (if possible) and when the arena locks, the boss will reset

I remember the other side of this, when i watched a cutscene in WoW and when it finished i was alone in the dungeon and my party already cleared everything and left lol
You can just walk outside of the boss arena in the first 15 seconds, it will just reset.
Some folks just have that one-track mindset and easily forget a first-timers run.

damn, that nin got griefed hard by his teammates. Honest mistakes happen, and when you’re just breezing by your roulettes its entirely possible to forget that one little, tiny, 3-sec long pop up saying “a first timer has joined the duty” way back at the start of the dungeon. I’ve done that myself a few times, as red/blue/green DPS.

99% of the time, by the time the 10 second cutscene at the end saying the dungeon is completed ends, I'm the only one still there
I was watching the cutscene before the Graffia boss in the Thousand Maws dungeon, and by the time it finished, i was the only one in the dungeon lmao.

I've always treated the line before the boss room like a stop sign. Always stop and wait for everyone to be ready and if anyone ignores and aggros the boss, they deserve the L.
Yep, as a Healer thats my face when i cant skip the cutscenes from the dungeon in Main Scenarios... yep that dungeon and that one and yep that Trial
Yesterday i was stuck watching very long cutscene (in the dungeon where you save the Sylph elder) and when i was done the party had already beaten the spider boss.
I was the HEALER.

I wanna say that boss opens with a tank buster too, but its been a hot minute since I've been in there. Either way as long as you can learn to accept your fate I don't think people mind lol
Hullbreaker Isle is still the funniest. In most dungeons, entering the boss room and waiting at the entrance is totally fine. But in this one, I've seen many a DPS go in then get smacked by a tentacle 5 seconds later, thus starting the fight alone.

What I play healer and a tank or DPS doesn't let new players watch the cutscene I let them die and tell them to respect the Sprouts
am a healer and i always try to stay back when entering the boss lol. super far in case of cutscenes. wanna make sure everyone is there
I always try to respect the watchers but i also have the zoomie. When im on dps i only start fighting when the tank has pulled

unless it`s a 24 man raid or roulette becuse 9 out 10 half the alliance will prolly join the dps wanting to get there roulettes done
On the newest alli raids people do a good job of waiting, the older the alli raids are tho the less patience people have and honestly i cant blame em

On the other hand, even if the rest of the group follows and the cutscene watcer pops in at 80% of the boss healthbar, it's not that big of a deal. It's just a dungeon boss, he isn't losing a valuable experience from doing only most of the fight rather than all of it on his first (out of bazillion) run.
That depends on who you ask, but if thats how you see it thats fine too, id just recommend being respectful of how others want to experience the game since it also doesnt take much to wait for a few seconds

What do you think guys? Should cutscenes be skippable in Prae and the like? I remember the time when it was. Then they changed it, now they reworked everything, time to change it back? Pls?
At least make it so if everyone in the party already completed it, they can be skipped, or something.
If the cutscenes are skippable, people aren't going to wait for sprouts, and they'll be forced to either miss the cutscenes or miss most of the dungeon, which really puts a damper on what's supposed to be the big finale of ARR.
And the problem with letting the cutscenes be skipped if everyone's completed it already is that it leads to feelings like "oh great, a sprout is here, now this is gonna take twice as long" and might even cause sprouts to be kicked on sight.
@@magicalgirlnicole You don’t have to explain it to me, I was a sprout when they didn’t wait for to finish the cutscene. I’d have one cutscene be interrupted by another because of how far the mentors ran away. I WAS THERE!

Though for me, I was lucky enough to be there when 2.0 came out and everyone was doing Praetorium for the first time too.
@@magicalgirlnicole 99.99% of the playerbase isn't going to be so petty as to kick someone running the dungeon for the first time, even IF cutscenes are made optional for a no-sprout group. I am basing this on the fact that I am not one of the cringelords who would - if you are and are therefore inclined to believe that of other people, that's a you issue.
