      @cutei pie
      I’m sorry but there is no actual way to completely get rid of them. Same with spilt ends, they are just always gonna come back or happen.
      You can prevent them tho. Make sure to put oil or grease on your ends, it lubricates them so they’re easier to untangle. Try to keep hair in protective styles like twists, braids, cornrows and buns. I don’t recommend puffs, wash and gos or twist/braid outs often cuz it allows you’re hair to knot up and tangle with each other of its self.
      Keep hair stretched as well, whether you braid it, band it or even low heat blow drying, it keeps your strands elongated so their not shrunken and can easily tangle with each other.
      Even though she said what she said above, I still think you should trim your hair. If I see or encounter a single strand knot, I always cut it out and don’t rip it out bcuz that can cause the end of that strand to split.
      Edit: grammatical corrections

    Also, let’s make it a habit to speak love into our hair and bodies in general. Don’t say it’s too hard, or make it seem like a chore to take care of it. Instead say, “I love every little beautiful strand of hair on my head. I’m grateful to be able to nurture and nourish my hair.” It works ❤️

      And so i did
      Some of the front section on the left side of my head is where the heat damage is
      So now i walking around with short patched hair on the left side of my head and long hair to the back

      @@RedFlyingFox007 Damaged hair is hair that has been broken/altered from it's original curl pattern. You can have color without color damage. Ive seen people keep their curl pattern with color. You can't have permed hair without damaged hair. The hair is literally broken that's how it becomes permed. You have to destroy it. It can still be long though if you have hair thick/strong enough to withstand the damage.

    Split ends are not white. The white bulb means it came directly from the scalp. A split end is the ends split literally. Curlier hair hides it better but you can tell by the way the ends feel and misbehave. You can also tell by looking at the ends of your hair😉

      @@SunnySideUp712 Right I was completely lost when she said that because I was like let me find out I got a super power that I'm the only one that can see split ends 😂 Even when she said the other hair styles you can see the white bulb, that's when I knew she was really confused because that's a shed hair and we all have white bulbs. That's how you can tell it came from the root and didn't just break off randomly on a strand💯

    After reading the comments, I feel like it is important to note that while you shouldn't be scissor happy you still shouldn't avoid trims like it is the plague. At a certain point we have to worry about the health of our hair as opposed to length. Your hair may be long, but if the ends of your hair are see-through, thin, jagged, and are making all sorts of W~y-shapes, what's the point? And it isn't that hard to spot single strand knots or split ends either. Just give the hair a blowout and feel the ends of your hair. If they are rough and see through snip,snip. Also, if you have 4c hair, you shouldn't be trimming your hair in it's natural shruken state anyway. If you do that you'll never get an even cut(just speaking from experience). The longer you wait to trim your hair, the more hair you will inevitably need to cut off in the long run.

    • @schoolwork232

    • @Dree03
      @Dree03 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      What u end up having to cut really ends up being equivalent. It’s no point in blowing it out all the time to check for that. It’s counterproductive since you’re damaging your hair by blowing it out and could just trim when you’re comfortable with the length.

    • @karabothechristlovingafrican
      @karabothechristlovingafrican 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I agree with you, I have healthy well growing natural hair and it did not grow as beautifully, until I started trimming my ends...If it's making you look like a kitty cat on the surface and you can see the sun through it despite it being really thick - it's not hair sis - it's ends!

    • @eventplanner461
      @eventplanner461 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Dree03 What u end up cutting off is not the equivalent. How split ends work is that they travel up the hair shaft. One strand of hair can have 1-6 splits up to the root. I have seen naturals with really long hair, but ends that were so see-through they have to cut off half their length. They had to do a whole big chop.

So I bought a bonnet this week, castor oil, and twisted it up wet with Cantu Natural Hair Conditioning creamy hair lotion, Sky Organic Organic Castor oil and shea moisture leave in detangler this week past. Not a knot in sight. Hair is still moisturized. I touch it up with the castor oil around the scalp, ends and edges every couple of days. I need a spray bottle for water though.

    Point blank, if you don’t have any split ends, there’s no need for a cut or trim unless you just want it. If you have split ends, cut/trim them off.
    2ndly, Keep your hair moisturized. Water FIRST, then some type of leave-in conditioner, then a moisturizer, and maybe a little avocado oil if you use oil. Everyone doesn’t want nor need oil in their hair.
    Make healthy/better food and drink choices. Vegetables are GREAT!

      Danielle Palmer you haven’t tried hard enough then. Hair always grows unless you have an underlying medical condition. You’re just not retaining length. Your ends are the oldest part of your hair, If u don’t moisturize it properly or anything else, then your hair will stay the same length. Don’t give up so easily on your hair. Learn your hair

      JS Willworth nah hair should grow past your ears unless you have a medical condition, deficiency or poor hair care routine. That’s not genetics. Hair stops growing when you die.

    My mom's grans was Khoisan and she took the thin hair gene from the khoi gran. They don't really grow long hair. I took that gene too. I have been eating right, cutting split ends, I know my hair porosity and everything but it just doesn't grow past shoulder length. Anyway this is to say yes genetics can play a huge part. Accept your hair as is and just make sure it's healthy. Ever since accepting I'm happy and I'm even considering sisterlocks.

  • @lunamoth4350

    Exactly. I have various hair type on my head and I can tell that the hair which suffer the most when I was not cutting the splits ends and knots was the 4c. I was struggling with my 4c because of that and I wasn't understanding why. Then, when I start applicated the dust method I start to see length retention and my hair was healthy. The key is to cut when you see the spilt end/knot and only the hair which need a cut. I do that on each wash day ( monthly ).

    I took a strand of hair from my head and the end was spit pretty bad, I pulled another one and the same thing. I'm a professional license hairstylist. I become really ill so I couldn't do my hair for one whole year. I had to go to a salon to someone I trusted and had her to trim my hair ends, then research and saw your Moringa and Fenugreek deep conditioner and I haven't had any split ends since. But I had my ends trimmed first. I used your products only like 3 months now. 8oz is pretty small this is my third purchase. I use it once a week. I love this. My hair has grew .

    Girl, you are so right. Hair dressers always say you need a "trim" so that they can make money off you, (and also when they are jealous of your hair length). Its a scam and so long as you are properly keeping you hair stretched, conditioned and protected you will be fine.

    Thank you for pointing out iron instead of biotin btw! Women need to realize that
    1. biotin is in basically everything so you really can't be deficient in it and
    2. Iron deficiency anemia is THE MOST common deficiency in women of child bearing age due to menstruation and it is very important for blood supply in your body, thus growth!
    Girls be asking why it seems like guy's hair grows faster. It's not because of testosterone (quite the opposite actually); it's probably because they dont manipulate their hair much, tend to play lots of sports(exercise), and they dont have to worry about iron deficiency anemia.

    Omg girl. I love you! Keep it real. I never understood the whole cutting thing either and I dont let anyone cut my hair except 1 person I've known for years and she knows how much I cherish my length and shes managed to keep it healthy and long even when I did get relaxers. You make great points and your hair is long and beautiful! Subscribed!

    Hey Love,
    Thank you for your well thoughout content. Would it be too much to ask for you to do a miniseries on helpful protective styles where you measure the length before and after? Also, share your insight on why you think the style produced so much length retention.
    That would be so helpful☺️ I haven’t seen anyone document the amount of growth from a particular style.

    My teenage nephew has been trying to grow his hair for a year. It's ridiculously THICK, but refuses to grow much in length at all, and he never cuts it. When I was his age about 20 years ago, I did the same thing. My hair was down to my shoulders in the same amount of time, and I used to cut, relax, dye it non-stop.

    My hair grew extremely fast and got super thick simply by doing wash n gos. But Id do a cowash wash n go every 3 days. Doing that kept my ends from drying and splitting. Kept my hair extra moisturized and that means a lot for me because I live in the Arizona desert. Because it stayed so moisturized it was never tangled or knotted up because I never gave ny hair a chance to settle. I would shampoo every 2 weeks and cowash in between. Protective styling is NOT the only way to grow hair and retain it.

    My aunt is nigerian and used to have really long hair but she also told me that when coming to Europe the water actually caused her hair to fall out. I actually don't think that's the only reason because she used relaxer.
